The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound JUST FOOLING performed a satisfactory weight trial over the distance of 331m in a time of 20.09 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound DOWN THEY CAME performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.41.

 

The greyhound BLACKJACK GENT performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.20.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 331m

SMASH TO FEAR and WOODY’S RETURN were best to begin with SWISH BEACH slowly away.  Shortly after the start SMASH TO FEAR and WOODY’S RETURN came together.  Through the back straight WOODY’S RETURN, SO YOU SAID and FASHION FOR FUN all raced tight.  Approaching the top turn SO YOU SAID and FASHION FOR FUN came together and became unbalanced.  Leaving the top turn SO YOU SAID and FASHION FOR FUN collided, with SO YOU SAID losing ground.

 

The greyhound SO YOU SAID was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind webbing and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 331m

GORILLA EYES and BOB EFFECTS were best to begin with SAMMY DO THAT very slowly away.  Through the back straight PRECIOUS ETHEL shifted out checking NANNY CHAR CHAR. Shortly after, CURL THE WAVE and PRECIOUS ETHEL came together with CURL THE WAVE losing ground. As a result NANNY CHAR CHAR improved onto the running of CURL THE WAVE and was checked. Approaching the top turn GORILLA EYES was tightened between BOB EFFECTS and MALI COVEK and lost ground.  SAMMY DO THAT was wide through the top turn and the home straight.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Heat 3 331m

BOOTYDO was best to begin with SMASHNIAK FIVE slowly away.  Shortly after the start HARA’S SAMUEL shifted in tightening SOCCER’S OFF.  Through the back straight OKA’S ANGEL shifted in hampering HE WILL REIGN.  Shortly after, SMASHNIAK FIVE improved onto the running of HE WILL REIGN and lost ground.  Through the top turn SHAYLOE DAISEY and ALL RIVERS RUN raced tight and unbalanced.  HE WILL REIGN was wide through the top turn.  Entering the home straight SHAYLOR DAISEY shifted out checking OKA’S ANGEL.

 

Race 4 – Novice 331m

SALLY SPARKLES was best to begin with TURNAROUND TOBE slowly away.  Shortly after the start CUZZY BROMAC, HARA’S SIZZLE and COUNTRY ELITE were tight.  As a result CUZZY BROMAC was forced to shift out onto the running of MISS RUCKUS.  Entering the top turn MISS KARA and CUZZY BROMAC raced tight with MISS KARA losing ground.  MISS RUCKUS which was following was inconvenienced.

 

Race 5 – Novice 331m

SUM TING WONG was best to begin.  Shortly after the start TARA MARRIE shifted in tightening BRING BACK JOE and PURNIM.  Shortly after, BOSANOVA was tightened between COUNTRY ROCKET and MACARENA MISS. Approaching the top turn MISS BECKY SAM improved onto the heels of MACARENA MISS with both greyhounds checked. BRING BACK JOE was wide through the top turn.  Racing through the top turn BOSANOVA and MISS BECKY SAM came together.  Shortly after, SUM TING WONG improved onto the heels of COUNTRY ROCKET and both greyhounds were checked.

 

Race 6 – Maiden Final 331m

ACE CHARMER was best to begin.  Shortly after the start WITCHESE RICHERS shifted in tightening SPRING CALIBER while ACE CHARMER also shifted in tightening SAY WHAT.  SPRING CALIBER which was following was inconvenienced.  Approaching the top turn CYCLONE MARLOW improved onto the heels of SAY WHAT, with CYLCONE MARLOW becoming unbalanced and SPRING CALIBER which was following also inconvenienced.  Both SPRING CALIBER and CYCLONE MARLOW lost ground in this incident.  Leaving the top turn ACE CHARMER shifted out off the heels of WON MY HEART.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 395m

SIR BAZZ ATTACK was best away.  Shortly after the start MISS SHADOW and HARA’S HARRY came together. Through the 1st turn WALLY WHO CALLS, USAIN BUZZA and HARA’S HARRY raced tight.  Entering the back straight SIR BAZZ ATTACK shifted out checking BILL’S MAGIC while MISS SHADOW shifted out off the heels of BIG DAC.  Entering the home straight BILL’S MAGIC improved onto the heels of SIR BAZZ ATTACK and was hampered.  SIR BAZZ ATTACK and BILL’S MAGIC were wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound MISS SHADOW was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – Best 8 395m

Even start.  Through the 1st turn TRAV’S FANTASY, COUNTRY CHARM, LATE TROTS ANGEL, WINNING HEARTS and WAZZ’S FANTASY raced tight and unbalanced.  COUNTRY CHARM, LATE TROTS ANGEL and WINNING HEARTS lost ground as a result.  Approaching the top turn WAZZ’S FANTASY, WINNING HEARTS and LATE TROTS ANGEL all came together and became unbalanced.  COUNTRY CHARM which was following was inconvenienced.  WINNING HEARTS and WAZZ’S FANTASY raced tight entering the home straight.

 

The greyhound WINNING HEARTS was vetted due to a fall after the winning post and was found to have suffered an injury to the near side shoulder and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 395m

NEAT ALRIGHT and KATE LANEFIELD were best to begin with ANGELIC MISS slow.  Through the 1st turn NEAT ALRIGHT, ACKA DACKA, HARA’S LUKEY and KATE LANEFIELD raced tight and as a result KATE LANEFIELD lost ground checking ANGELIC MISS and INTILACH.  Entering the back straight INTILACH shifted in checking ZERO INTEREST which lost ground and in doing so inconvenienced ANGELIC MISS.  Entering the home straight ACKA DACKA and ANGELIC MISS came together while ZERO INTEREST and KATE LANEFIELD collided.  Down the running KATE LANEFIELD shifted in colliding with ZERO INTEREST.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

HE’S A HUNTER was very slow to begin.  Through the catching pen NOTORIOUS LADY, JESS NIRO and BARRIE BOJANGLES raced tight.  HARA’S WENDY which was racing to the inside was forced to shift in and checked READY TO RULE.  Entering the top turn BARRIE BOJANGLES shifted in checking HARA’S WENDY, which was forced to shift out and in doing so caused EK’S DREAM to race wide through the turn.

 

Stewards spoke with the trainer of HE’S A HUNTER Mr. C. Gear in regards to the greyhound’s slow start to the event.  Mr. Gear stated that the greyhound is typically uncomfortable in the starting boxes and is generally slow to begin.  Stewards accepted his advice and no further action was taken.
