GENERAL

 

The greyhound DASHING JILLIE performed a satisfactory weight trial over the distant of 520m in a time of 30.39 at a weight of 27.0 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound VEL MAGIC performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.36.

 

The greyhound WOOHOO performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.20.

 

The greyhound RADLEY’S JACKPOT performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.15.

 

The greyhound STEELIE PRINCESS performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 395m in a time of 24.04.

 

This race meeting was broadcast on Sky TV as audio only due to connection problems.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 520m

MASTER CODY and OCTOBER SPRING were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start BY GOLLY MOLLY shifted out checking QUEEN LOCH BRAE which lost ground.  Approaching the 1st turn BY GOLLY MOLLY and QUEEN LOCH BRAE came together with QUEEN LOCH BRAE becoming severely unbalanced and falling.  OCTOBER SPRING and PENNY UNDERCOVER which were following were severely inconvenienced and also fell.  OCTOBER SPRING, PENNY UNDERCOVER and QUEEN LOCH BRAE took no further competitive part in the event.  MASTER HAYMAKER and EARN A QUID which were following were also severely inconvenienced.

 

The greyhound QUEEN LOCH BRAE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound OCTOBER SPRING was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound PENNY UNDERCOVER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – Novice 520m

NOW FEAR THIS was best to begin with KAHUNA WEST slow.  SARAJEVO GIRL began awkwardly.  Approaching the 1st turn BRODIE’S MEMORY was tightened between WICKED PRINCE and BOO BOO CHILD.  Racing through the 1st turn WICKED PRINCE improved onto the heels of BED OF NAILS and both greyhounds were checked with BED OF NAILS losing ground.  Leaving the back straight KAHUNA WEST appeared to ease and lose ground when in clear running and took no further competitive part in the event.  Entering the home straight BRODIE’S MEMORY and TOUCH OF CAJUN raced tight and unbalanced.

 

The greyhound KAHUNA WEST was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

OUR ELITE and SMASHNIAK GOLD were slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn ELL’S ALL CLASS, SKETCHY AIMY and SMASHNIAK GOLD raced tight.  Shortly after, CHEVALEIR NUIT and EL MUFASA collided and ELL’S ALL CLASS which was following was also inconvenienced.  Continuing through the turn EL MUFASA, ELL’S ALL CLASS, CHEVALEIR NUIT and SKETCHY AIMY all came together and became unbalanced.

 

Race 4 – 0 – 3 Wins 600m

TREBLIG BRAD was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn HARPER CLOUD shifted out tightening SHEZ SASSY, TAIPAN’S TIME and WHITE MARLIN.  As a result SHEZ SASSY was forced to shift out taking ZIPPING KENDRA and TREBLIG BRAD extremely wide on the track with all greyhounds losing ground.  HARPER CLOUD was wide entering the bottom turn.  Approaching the turn into the home straight SHEZ SASSY improved onto the heels of KIHAEL PRINCESS and was forced to shift out onto the running of HARPER CLOUD and both greyhounds lose ground.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

CHEEKY CHANCE and TRIGGER were slow to begin.  Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion MIGHTY OAK shifted in tightening SHIVERANCE which lost ground.  Through the 1st turn GUNNER MAGIC and HOUINDEED collided.  Passing the catching pen these 2 greyhounds collided again.  Through the top turn BLUE SCORPION was tightened between CHEEKY CHANCE and MIGHTY OAK.  HOUINDEED which was following was inconvenienced.  Leaving the top turn TRIGGER and MIGHTY OAK came together.

 

The greyhound SHIVERANCE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 2 520m

JEEPSTER was slow to begin.  Down the home straight on the 1st occasion PUMA CLOUD shifted in tightening FAST BEAN and BOCHINO APPEAL.  Approaching the 1st turn JEEPSTER and RAZEN TOAST came together.  Racing through the 1st turn ROCKAWAY BEACH shifted out off the heels of MODERN MISS.  ROCKAWAY BEACH was wide through the back straight.  Through the top turn HIGHLIFE and RAZEN TOAST raced tight.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 3 520m

ANGELIC MISS, VILLAINOUS and VELOCITY SHIRL were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start LOLLI DOLLI shifted out tightening ANGELIC MISS and VELOCITY SHIRL, while MILLIE’S COMET shifted out checking MINNIE IMPACT.  Approaching the 1st turn LOLLI DOLLI was tightened between ANGELIC MISS and MILLIE’S COMET.  Entering the 1st turn VILLAINOUS, MINNIE IMPACT, VELOCITY SHIRL and LOLLI DOLLI raced tight and unbalanced.  Continuing through the turn ANGELIC MISS shifted in checking MILLIE’S COMET.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Heat 4 520m

FEMME JOLIE was best to begin with MORE FOR YOU and GEARS OF WAR slow.  Shortly after the start TWICE AS NICE shifted out checking GEARS OF WAR.  Down the home straight on the 1st occasion STARTIN’ MONDAY shifted out tightening TWICE AS NICE.  Shortly after, TWICE AS NICE was tightened between STARTIN’ MONDAY and GEARS OF WAR, which shifted.  Through the back straight MORE FOR YOU shifted in checking SMOOTH STYLE.  Entering the home straight KIRI BELLE shifted out turning its head and making muzzle contact with POWER JET which was racing to its outside.

 

The greyhound KIRI BELLE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side shoulder and was stood down for a period of 10 days.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. P. Carleton that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 9 – 3/4th Grade 520m

STELLA NIGHTS was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start KING ODESSA shifted in tightening STELLA NIGHTS.  Approaching the 1st turn SPOOKIE’S GIFT was tightened between DARE TO TELL and PRINCE FREDERICK and became severely unbalanced and lost ground.  KING ODESSA which was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the back straight STELLA NIGHTS shifted out off the heels of DARE TO TELL.

 

The greyhound SPOOKIE’S GIFT was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Stewards spoke to the connections of KING ODESSA in regards to the greyhound’s weakening over the concluding stages of this event.  Connections believed that the greyhound may not have performed to its best given that this was its first start over the 520m at this venue, and hoped for an improved performance going forward. Stewards advised that future performances would be closely monitored.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

Even start.  Through the 1st turn OBIN TOMMY, FAITHFUL MUSTANG, NOTORIOUS LADY and ROCKY BE GOOD all bumped and became unbalanced.  BEAU JILLEM which was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the home straight STARLINE RED and ROCKY BE GOOD raced tight.
