VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound BRIDGE CROSSEN failed a stewards’ trial over the distance of 395m

 

The greyhound SANDY ISLAND performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 520m in a time of 30.99 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

Stewards questioned trainer’s representative of Patrick Lavis in regards to his failure to scratch STONEBROOK out of today’s racing.  After hearing his explanation whereas in NSW the greyhound would be automatically scratched their control board stewards instructed the representative to remind P Lavis of his obligations in respect to the matter when racing in Queensland and no penalty was imposed.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 395m

Even start with ELECTRIC BUNDY slow to begin.  Shortly after the start KNOCKA’S MATE shifted out which resulted in NAMOR clipping its heels and falling heavy onto the track.  As a consequence YES GERONOMO was checked.  In the back straight CAPTAIN MORGAN raced wide.  CAPTAIN MORGAN again raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound NAMOR was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the neck and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 395m

SOMETHIN’ FIZZY, MINI’S COLLISION and CATWALK SHOW LEE were all best to begin.  SUNDAY SUNRISE raced wide in the back straight.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight HYDROGEN checked off the heels of OKA’S ANGEL and lost ground and as a result STARBURST JEFF was checked.  Approaching the turn into the front straight PENNY UNDERCOVER shifted out which resulted in OKA’S ANGEL and HYDROGEN to be checked.  Rounding the turn into the front straight STARBURST JEFF clipped the heels of HYDROGEN causing HYDROGEN to be hampered.  PENNY UNDERCOVER raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Heat 3 395m

Shortly after the start NOT TODAY MATE, BOGIE LILLY and RICH ‘N’ WILD came together, resulting in BOGIE LILLY being checked and took no further competitive part in the event.  Entering the back straight BUSH SPIRIT checked off the heels of BLACK BOMBER dragging its down, resulting in BLACK BOMBER taking no further competitive part in the event.

 

Race 4 – Novice 395m

Even start with TEJAY’S AWESOME being very slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight WON MY HEART and WASABI WARRIOR came together which resulted in WASABI WARRIOR shifting out checking TOTTENHAM TERROR.  Entering the turn out of the back straight STASRLINE WHITE and WON MY HEART came together with WON MY HEART being hampered.  WASABI WARRIOR raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound TEJAY’S AWESOME was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 5 – Novice 395m

Even start with IVORY KING being slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight OVIE’S RAGINIG and SHAKIRA BELLA came together with both greyhounds being hampered. Shortly after SHAKIRA BELLA clipped the heels of IVORY KING and lost some ground.  In the back straight ADAM’S ANGEL dropped back and checked OVIE’S RAGING.  Entering the top turn ADAM’S ANGEL and OVIE’S RAGING collided heavily.

 

The greyhound SHAKIRA BELLA was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind toe and was stood down for a period of 28 days.

 

Trainer of OVIE’S RAGING Mr. T Zammit was reminded of his obligations in respect to re-kennelling his greyhound after the event.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 1 395m

Even start.  SUNNYSIDE JAY was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start FLASH GORAN, SHE TALKS, MIGHTY ROCKET and MALLOURY QUEEN all collided.  Entering the back straight SUNNYSIDE JAY clipped the heels of SHE TALKS and lost momentum.  In the back straight FLASH GORAN and SUNNYSIDE JAY both raced wide.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 2 395m

Shortly after the start SHANAE’S MAGIC, BLACKJACK GENT, IVAN’S MATE and SOUTHERN FLOSS all came together and as a result COVERT AGENT was tightened for racing room.  Approaching the turn into the back straight SUPA SMOOTH OSTI shifted in and checked SOUTHERN FLOSS, causing it to lose ground which resulted in CLASSY BARCY being severely checked and fell.  CLASSY BARCY failed to complete the event as a result of this incident.  SOUTHERN FLOSS took no further competitive part in the event.

 

The greyhound CLASSY BARCY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound SOUTHERN FLOSS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Heat 3 395m

FAMOUS FOR FUN was slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight POWER JET raced tight between ALOTA BALONEY and CANE D’ORO and lost some ground.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade Heat 4 395m

Even start with NOT WORTH IT slow to begin.  DAME MELBA OSTI raced tight between CLASSY CHURCHIE and STARLINE RED approaching the turn into the back straight and lost some ground.  SHE’S TOO HOT checked off the heels of AZARIAH in the back straight and lost some ground.  Shortly afterwards AZARIAH checked off the heels of JUST ITCHIN’ and lost some ground. Leaving the back straight JUST ITCHIN’ checked off the heels of AGENT ROMANOFF which in turn checked SHE’S TOO HOT. In the front straight STARLINE RED and AZARIAH collided.

 

Race 10 – 3/4th Grade 395m

Even start.  Shortly after the start CLOUD LAND and EVIE’S ANGEL were tightened when SMASH EM UP crossed. Approaching the turn into the front straight BOGAN MISS clipped the heels of CLOUD LAND and caused it to race wide.
