The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound KAPALUA performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.14 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound CELTIC COLLEEN performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 395m in a time of 23.31and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 331m

SON OF PRADA and JACK OSCAR were best to begin.  Shortly after the start SCORCHING CORNER was tightened between KELTIC CHIEF and MONKEY’S UNCLE.  MONKEY’S UNCLE was wide through the top turn.  In the home straight CAPTAIN MORGAN shifted out coming together with MONKEY’S UNCLE.

 

The greyhound SCORCHING CORNER was vetted due to fall after the winning post and no apparent injuries were found.

 

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 1 331m

MIDNIGHY HAYZE was best to begin with OLLIE ARMAGH and PIN POINT RUFF slow.  Through the back straight GAMINE tightened PA TING.  NINA ROSE HI and PIN POINT RUFF were wide through the top turn.

 

The greyhound PA TING was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the back and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

The greyhound OLLIE ARMAGH was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned on the greyhound’s below market expectation performance trainer Mr. M James noted to stewards that the greyhound did miss the start on this occasion however he did believe the greyhound improved throughout the event. Mr. James further advised stewards that in his opinion the odds for this greyhound did not adequately reflect the greyhound’s ability.  Stewards noted Mr. James’s comments.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Heat 2 331m

MONTEIRO was best to begin with TRAV’S HOPE slow.  Shortly after the start INNER WISDOM shifted out checking AZIZA which was forced to collide with BLACK DASH and both greyhounds lost ground.  Entering the top turn BUNJIE BABE and TRAV’S HOPE came together.  Through the top turn SHAYLOR JOE improved onto the heels of BUNJIE BABE with both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and BLACK DASH which was following forced to collide with these 2 greyhounds.  All 3 greyhounds were severely inconvenienced.  Down the running TRAV’S HOPE was hampered on the heels of POTATO PIRATE.

 

When questioned on the below market expectation performance of AZIZA trainer Mr. M James stated to stewards that he believed the greyhound’s favouritism in the betting did not adequately reflect the greyhound’s ability or his expectations of the greyhound in this race.  Mr. James made reference to the greyhound’s ability as displayed in trials which he believed would not have placed this greyhound as a favourite in this race.  Stewards noted Mr. James’s comments.

 

Race 4 – Maiden Final 331m

MULWEE GRAND and ALBARTROSS were best to begin with BLUE JOY slow.  Through the back straight MULWEE GRAND checked ALBARTROSS which lost ground.  Approaching the top turn ALBARTROSS checked off the heels of CHADOR KAHN.  At the same time FAST CODY was hampered on the heels of BLUE JOY.  Entering the top turn BLUE JOY and GUNTER came together.

 

Race 5 – Novice 331m

SUMMER’S RACER was best to begin.  Approaching the top turn SHAYLOR CHARLIE improved onto the heels of SUMMER’S RACER and both greyhounds were checked and lost ground.  MACY DIAMOND which was following was inconvenienced as SUMMER’S RACER lost ground and SMASH TO FEAR was forced to shift wide through the top turn as a result.  CHERYL VALE was wide through the top turn.

 

Race 6 – Novice 331m

KNOCKA’S ASSET was scratched by order of stewards acting under the provisions of rule GAR25(1)(e)(ii) at 6:10PM. At the time stewards could not be comfortably satisfied as to the identity of the greyhound pertaining to the particulars as displayed on the greyhound’s identification card. The matter remains under inquiry.

 

HOT LIKE SUNSET was slow to begin.  Through the back straight SQUIRT ROSE HI was tightened between BOGIE LILLY and BONNIE VALE.  Through the top turn BONNIE VALE was wide.  Through the top turn SHEZA HUGGER checked off the heels of MISS ELEGANCE.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 395m

SPANKY’S LEGEND and MR SNEAKY SNEAKY were best to begin and SUPA SMOOTH OSTI and DAYSEAS FREDDIE were also well away.  Through the 1st turn DAYSEAS FREDDIE checked off the heels of MR SNEAKY SNEAKY and collided with SUPA SMOOTH OSTI and PLUM JAM.  Through the back straight ROCKAWAY BEACH shifted out hampering MR SNEAKY SNEAKY.  Entering the top turn PLUM JAM and KOORINGA PETE collided and became unbalanced.

 

Race 8 – 3/4th Grade 395m

ANTI DENTITE was slow to begin.  Entering the back straight BLACK STEEL improved onto the heels of OAKEY PARK and both greyhounds lost momentum.  Through the back straight ANTI DENTITE and OAKEY PARK came together.  Leaving the back straight ANTI DENTITE improved onto the heels of BLACK STEEL and both greyhounds lost ground.  Through the top turn LAKODA DAWN improved onto the heels of OAKEY PARK and both greyhounds were hampered.  Entering the home straight LAKODA DAWN checked off the heels of OAKEY PARK.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 395m

MARINERS BEACH was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn IBRA CADABRA, STANDOUT and MARINERS BEACH were tight and unbalanced.  MOCHE LATTE which was racing to the inside was checked and lost ground as a result.  Shortly after,  FEAR THE RECALL, TAYTO and IVAN’S MATE all collided and KIDATEE JOSH which was following was also inconvenienced.  Approaching the top turn FEAR THE RECALL checked off the heels of IVAN’S MATE.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

WON MY HEART and SOMETHIN’ FIZZY were best to begin with MATT’S COURAGE slow.  Leaving the 1st turn SAN DIEGO shifted in checking MATT’S COURAGE and COLROB GIRL which lost ground.  Through the top turn SAN DIEGO checked off the heels of SPRINKLE DUST.  Entering the home straight SPRINKLE DUST checked off the heels of SOMETHIN’ FIZZY and hampered MUMMA’S HOPE.
