The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound ITALIAN MAGIC successfully performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.29.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 520m

GOLDEN PHEONIX and BELLA CRUSADER were best to begin with MR. COLLISION and OLD HARRY ROCKS slow.  Shortly after the start MUMBLES shifted in colliding with HOBO JANE.  Down the running on the 1st occasion GOLDEN PHEONIX shifted out checking BELLA CRUSADER.  Through the 1st turn HOBO JANE checked off the heels of BELLA CRUSADER.  Shortly after, MUMBLES and GALWAY THUNDER came together and MUMBLES lost ground causing interference to MR. COLLISION.  Entering the top turn GALWAY THUNDER, HOBO JANE and OLD HARRY ROCKS were tight and became unbalanced with HOBO JANE and GALWAY THUNDER losing ground.  Entering the home straight GALWAY THUNDER turned its head inwards towards HOBO JANE which was racing to its inside.  BELLA CRUSADER and OKA’S ANGEL were tight over the concluding stages.

 

The greyhound GALWAY THUNDER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. K Galloway that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (B) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 520m

DRAGON DUK was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start TO BIRDIES was tightened between LEGACY CHIEF and SIR BLINK and lost ground.  Entering the home straight LEGACY CHIEF and DRAGON DUK came together.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

GREAT KNOCK THAT, SMART SPIRIT and DOOLEY’S SPRITE were best to begin with YES GERONOMO slow.  Shortly after the start ALL FORCE and GOLD ZIVA came together and GOLD ZIVA lost momentum.  Through the home straight on the 1st occasion GOLD ZIVA and YES GERONOMO collided.  Approaching the 1st turn GLENALLON ZULU shifted in checking GOLD ZIVA which lost ground.  Through the 1st turn BED OF NAILS, YES GERONOMO and GOLD ZIVA were tight and unbalanced and BED OF NAILS and GOLD ZIVA lost ground.  Approaching the top turn GLENALLON ZULU improved onto the heels of DOOLEY’S SPRITE which lost ground.  Down the home straight GOLD ZIVA was hampered on the heels of DOOLEY’S SPRITE.

 

The greyhound GOLD ZIVA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – 0 – 3 Wins 600m

DON’T DOUBT ME was slow to begin.  HIGHLY SEDUCTIVE began awkwardly and took no further competitive part in the event.  Through the 1st turn SMASHNIAK GOLD shifted out checking GALWAY GALE.  Shortly after, MISTER MUSIC shifted out tightening AUSSIE ALI and SMASHNIAK GOLD.  DON’T DOUBT ME was wide down the home straight on the 1st occasion.  Through the home straight on the 1st occasion GALWAY GALE and SMAUG’S BOUNTY came together and GALWAY GALE lost ground.  Through the final turn GALWAY GALE checked off the heels of SMAUG’S BOUNTY.

 

The greyhound HIGHLY SEDUCTIVE was vetted and found to have a paralysis tick attached in the neck region. Veterinary advice attributed this to the greyhound’s failure to compete further in the event shortly after the start of the race.The Greyhound was stood down for a period of 14 days on veterinary advice. Stewards stipulated that the greyhound would require a veterinary clearance and the completion of a satisfactory stewards’ trial prior to the greyhound being eligible to nominate further. 

 

Stewards noted that the starting point of the lure was approximately 3 meters forward of the designated starting position. Stewards were satisfied that the lure run up time and speed were in line with the requirements of GAR 54 (1) and that the starting position in this instance had no material impact upon the event and the ‘all clear’ was declared.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 600m

NO CALLARATAH and GOLFING AMY were best to begin with PICTURES PEARCE slow.  Through the 1st turn THIS TIME REBA shifted out tightening SARAJEVO GIRL and PICTURES PEARCE with SARAJEVO GIRL lost ground.  Down the home straight on the 1st occasion MINNIE IMPACT checked off the heels of PICTURES PEARCE.  Through the final turn MINNIE IMPACT improved onto the heels of COSMIC WATERS and both greyhounds were unbalanced.  Entering the home straight MINNIE IMPACT and THIS TIME REBA came together.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

THRILLA MOMENT was best to begin.  Shortly after the start TOBIAS RUMBLE and BOGIE’S A STAR came together.  Entering the 1st turn SIR TIGER OSTI shifted in tightening HIGHLIFE.  Entering the back straight SIR TIGER OSTI and HIGHLIFE came together and SIR TIGER OSTI lost ground.  BOGIE’S A STAR was wide through the back straight.

 

The greyhound SIR TIGER OSTI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

 

 

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 2 520m

Even start.  Approaching the winning post on the 1st occasion CHIEF HASSLER gave ground.  Entering the 1st turn GARRANGAY DUK and COSMIC CYCLONE came together.  COSMIC CYCLONE was forced to shift off the heels of SILKY OAK and collide heavily with CHEEKY CHANCE which fell and took no further competitive part in the event.

 

The greyhound CHEEKY CHANCE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound CHIEF HASSLER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. N Tonks that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (B) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Heat 3 520m

SNAKE GULLY was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn JEEPSTER checked off the heels of DEEP DESPAIR and SNAKE GULLY.  Entering the back straight JEEPSTER checked off the heels of DEEP DESPAIR.  Shortly after, BRODIE’S MEMORY improved onto the heels of CLASSIC TRADER and both greyhounds became unbalanced.  WESTERN HONEY was wide in the back straight.  Leaving the back straight BRODIE’S MEMORY shifted in tightening DEEP DESPAIR which lost ground.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade Heat 4 520m

FAST AS was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn GIFT BOX, PASSIVE PROTEST and DOOLEY’S FIT raced tight and unbalanced.

 

 The ‘all clear’ for this event was delayed whilst stewards examined the photo finish for 3rd place.  After viewing the photo stewards were satisfied with the judge’s placing and declared the ‘all clear’.

 

Race 10 – 4/5th Grade 395m

This event was declared a ‘No Race” by stewards due to a malfunction with the starting boxes.

 

The greyhound DREAM RIVER was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side hock and was stood down for a period of 3 months.
