VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Novice 520m

GLENALLON ZULU was best to begin.  Shortly after the start DASH OF FAITH shifted out which carried FABULOUS LENY out onto LEGACY CHIEF which in turn shifted out and checked the running of FINITO, causing FINITO to lose ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight DASH OF FAITH was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the back straight FABULOUS LENY checked off the heels of DASH OF FAITH and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight GEE MAA checked off the heels of LEGACY CHIEF and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight GEE MAA contacted the heels of FINITO causing both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.

 

The greyhound FINITO was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.   When questioned trainer Ms. M Johnson explained that the greyhound races best when drawn to the inside boxes and likes to lead in its races and after receiving a check early in the event she was of the view this contributed to its overall performance.  She further stated that FINITO was an inexperienced greyhound learning to race as this was its only  sixth race start.  Stewards noted her explanation however, advised they expected it to race in a more consistent manner.

 

The greyhound LEGACY CHIEF was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side hip and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 2 – Novice 520m

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight MY SPRITE shifted in and tightened the racing room of JUST SPIFFING causing that greyhound to be checked.  RUBY BELTAH, GEORGE GALLON, VELOCITY SAXA, SEND A MESSAGE, JUST SPIFFING and BELLA CRUSADER were all checked approaching the turn into the front straight due to tight racing.

 

Race 3 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight HEIDI BENZ shifted in and tightened the racing room of EL CAPO causing that greyhound to be checked, with resulted in FLASH HOUDINI, which was trailing do be severely checked.  Shortly after as a result of this incident YOUR DEAL made heavy contact with the hindquarters of FLASH HOUDINI causing both greyhounds to be severely checked.  CRACKING CAZA which was racing to its outside was checked and raced wide as a consequence.

 

The greyhound FLASH HOUDINI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound YOUR DEAL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start LIL’ BIT SPARKY was tightened for racing room checked and lost ground.  Shortly after MR. SLY, SHANAE’S MAGIC, GO WILD SHAZ and STUART’S CHOICE all raced tight, which resulted in SHANAE’S MAGIC and GO WILD SHAZ being checked and to lose ground.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 520m

LAURYN’S BEST was best to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight BIRKDALE BEAUTY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight UP THE ATTITUDE was tightened for racing room, checked and shifted out making contact with BIRKDALE BEAUTY and SPECIAL GIRL, causing all 3 greyhounds to be severely checked and to lose considerable ground.  BULL TITAN was hampered as a consequence.  Leading into the back straight HOPPING HOUDINI checked off the heels of LAURYN’S BEST and was momentarily hampered.

 

The greyhound UP THE ATTITUDE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 520m

HOPE’S MAGIC was best to begin.  GEORGINA and NORM THE STORM were slow out.  Leaving the front straight SPRING BONANZA made heavy contact with the hindquarters of JOHNATHAN’S HOPE resulting in SPRING BONANZA falling and taking no further competitive part in the race.  As a consequence TITAN ASH, GEORGINA, WITH A GEE and NORM THE STORM were all checked to varying degrees.  Leaving the back straight GEORGINA and WITH A GEE came together resulting in both greyhounds being hampered.

 

The greyhound SPRING BONANZA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 600m

Even start.  Approaching the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion GOLFING AMY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion KNIGHTS TEMPLAR and MAGIC KITCHEN bumped causing MAGIC KITCHEN to be checked and lose ground.  Leaving the back straight FAST AS was tightened for racing room, checked and lost momentum.

 

Race 8 – Beat 8 520m

FULL OF ATTITUDE was best to begin.  Shortly after the start ANNIE BENZ, DON’T GO QUIETLY, FABULOUS STORM, YOUI, MINCIN’ MACHINE and KULU CHA CHING all raced tight resulting in DON’T GO QUIETLY, FABULOUS STORM and YOUI being checked and losing ground.  Leaving the front straight GRAND ROMAN contacted the heels of FULL OF ATTITUDE causing that greyhound to shift out which resulted in ANNIE BENZ, KULU CHA CHING and YOUI to be checked and lose valuable ground.  Shortly after FABULOUS STORM shifted out making contact with ANNIE BENZ causing it to shift out and come into contact with YOUI, resulting in each greyhound being checked to varying degrees.  Leaving the front straight EL CHAD, IMA COWBOY and ASTOUND YA all raced tight, resulting in IMA COWBOY and ASTOUND YA being checked.  Shortly after ASTOUND YA came into contact with GOT THE ATTITUDE causing both greyhounds to be checked and to  lose ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight ASTOUND YA clipped the heels of IMA COWBOY and lost momentum.

 

The greyhound DON’T GO QUIETLY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind foot and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start IMA COWBOY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into out of the front straight ASTOUND YA shifted out and came into contact with GOT THE ATTITUDE causing both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m

BRODIE’S MEMORY and ALLEZ DE BRAVE were best to begin.  NAPALM, ARCTIC TOMMY and STILL COUNTING were slow out.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight SIDBO and EYES ON ME came together causing EYES ON ME to be checked and lose momentum.  Approaching the turn into the back straight NAPALM contacted the heels of DOON GOES BOOM which was momentarily hampered.  Leaving the back straight ARCTIC TOMMY checked off the heels of DOON GOES BOOM.
