NO CALLARATAH, SARAJEVO GIRL, MAGIC MAIDEN, FLASH HOUDINI and FROSTY JAY JAY were best to begin.  IRINKA SHANE, BLUE HOUDINI and MISS HUSSY were slow out.  Approaching the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion SARAJEVO GIRL, MAGIC MAIDEN and FLASH HOUDINI all raced tight.  Leaving the front straight MISS HUSSY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the home turn MISS HUSSY, BLUE HOUDINI and IRINKA SHANE all raced tight.  Rounding the turn into the back straight IRINKA SHANE and FROSTY JAY JAY bumped.

Trainer Mr. B Baker explained that the greyhound races best when leading.  After showing early speed it collided with FROSTY JAY JAY leaving the turn out of the back straight and he was of the view that the greyhound may thereafter been effected by that collision and he was somewhat disappointed with the way it finished the race off. He stated that he FROSTY JAY JAY was stepping up in distance in tonight’s race  which ay have effected its performance and he may reconsider restricting his races to the 520 meters. He further stated that it would be his intention to freshen the greyhound up before return to racing. The greyhound IRINKA SHANE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found, Mr. B Baker’s explanation was noted.

The greyhound FROSTY JAY JAY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side shoulder and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m

ANOTHER HASSLER and MASTER CORSAIR were best to begin.  Shortly after the start EL MAGICO and I’M ALL STRIPES were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the back straight EL MAGICO clipped the heels of ANOTHER HASSLER and shifted out making heavy contact with FAST AS, causing both greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.

Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m

FORWARD PASS and EYES ON ME were best to begin.  BOUNDING AFFAIR and ALPHA THESEUS were both tightened for racing room shortly after the start, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the front straight RADLEY RETURN shifted out and carried CABARET TONIGHT wider on the track and as a consequence ALPHA THESEUS made heavy contact with the hindquarters of CABARET TONIGHT causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  ALPHA THESEUS raced wide in the back straight.  Rounding the home turn CABARET TONIGHT made contact with the heels of BIG RED DEVIL.

Mr. M Zammit the trainer’s representative was questioned in relation to the performance of ALPHA THESEUS in tonight’s event.  Mr. Zammit explained that the greyhound had drawn box 7 and has a tendency to race wide in its races.  He stated that after being tightened for racing room in the early stages of the race and checked on the turn out of the front straight he was satisfied with the greyhound’s performance in that it finished in fifth position beaten 6m.  He further stated that whilst he was of the view that ALPHA THESEUS had a very good chance in tonight’s event he did not support the greyhound as he was of the opinion  that the $1.50 fixed price tote on Ubet was not attractive to him in tonight’s race.  Phone evidence was taken from RQ betting Steward Mr. Mark Heffernan in regards with any activity through betting agencies throughout Australia. ALPHA THESEUS was examined by the Club’s Veterinarian who reported to have found no obvious abnormalities.  After considering all the evidence Mr. M Zammit’s explanation was noted.
