VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

 

Race 1             EL SHARKIE

stewards’ trial 395m all tracks prior to nominating

Race 8             CLASSY FLYER                  Injured in running, near side wrist, 14 days

Race 10           TRU BLU DASH                   Injured in running, stomach muscles, 21 days

 

GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 395m

Even start.  Into the 1st turn there was general tightening between BRIGANTINE, BLACKWOOD BURST, CORY’S DIAMOND, EL SHARKIE and BOEHRINGER, resulting in EL SHARKIE and BOEHRINGER losing their position.  Down the back straight BLACKWOOD BURST improved onto the heels of LA CHASE RAPIDO, resulting in both greyhounds losing ground.

 

The greyhound EL SHARKIE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. S Lees that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 395m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 395m

HARA’S BRACELET was slow to begin.  Shortly after FAMOUR REBEL was checked off the heels of LA MYRA RAPIDE which shifted in.  Leaving the 1st turn MASTER CHA CHA was tightened and lost ground.  Rounding the home turn EXCITED HAWK was bumped and became unbalanced.  FAMOUS REBEL and GLEBE KID both raced wide throughout.

 

Race 3 – Novice 395m

Even start.  Shortly after the start LAND LORD’S DIP and CATWALK SHOW LEE were tightened and lost ground.  Into the 1st turn all runners raced tight and as a consequence each runner was checked to various degrees.  Leaving the 1st turn CURIOUS STYLE was checked off heels and lost ground.

 

Race 4 – Novice 395m

SHAYLOE CLEDUS and BATTY LOVES BEER were both slow to begin.  Into the 1st turn SPRITLY LADY was tightened for room and lost ground.  ALPHA MIMOS, ROYAL HOTEL and BATTY LOVES BEER all raced wide throughout.

 

Race 5 –Maiden Final 395m

IZZY ELECTRIC was slow to begin.  Approaching the back turn CHA CHA GEM was tightened for room and lost ground.  IN JOCK’S SHADOW and WHAT A GUN both raced wide for the majority of the event.

 

Race 6 –5th Grade 395m

ORE DE KAHN and FEAR THE RECALL were slowest to begin.  Leaving the 1st turn KING’S GEM was tightened and checked FEAR THE RECALL.  FEAR THE RECALL which was following was also inconvenienced.  Both greyhounds lost ground in this incident.  Shortly after in the back straight TARMAC BLACK improved onto heels and lost ground.  MELODY SERENADE and FEAR THE RECALL both raced wide for the majority.

 

Race 7 –3/4th Grade 395m

Even start.  Into the 1st turn there was tightening between DIAMODN OSPREY, EVIE’S ANGEL, KNOCK FOR ME, BIG DAC and PREMIER PLAYER, resulting in EVIE’S ANGEL and KNOCK FOR ME becoming unbalanced and losing ground.  Also in this incident PREMIER PLAYER and PLUM JAM were severely checked losing considerable ground.  EVIE’S ANGEL and KNOCK FOR ME both raced wide throughout.

 

The greyhound PREMIER PLAYER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – 1/2nd Grade 395m

Even start.  Into the 1st turn MODERN MISS was tightened and lost its position.  Approaching the back turn CLASSY FLYER began to weaken.  FENRIR which was racing to its outside was taken wider on the track.  FENRIR raced wide for the majority.

 

The greyhound CLASSY FLYER was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side wrist and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grad 395m

Even start.  Shortly after REDDY RANGER and LITTLE RAMONA were tightened for racing room.  Leaving the 1st turn HARA’S SIZZLE was checked off the heels of TRAV’S MAGIC and lost ground.  LITTLE RAMONA, SMASHNIAK CLASS and HARA’S SIZZLE all raced wide rounding the home turn.  Approaching the back turn SWITCHIN’ SIDES was momentarily tightened for room and brushed the running rail and lost ground.  Over the concluding stages SMASHNIAK CLASS was checked off the heels of HARA’S SIZZLE and lost ground.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

SMASH TO FEAR was slow to begin.  Shortly after TRU BLU DASH sustained an injury and took no further competitive part in the event.  Rounding the home turn ANGEL MOON was held up for clear running.  Over the final stages SHAYLOR CHARLIE checked off the heels of URBAN STREET.  SHAYLOR CHARLIE and URBAN STREET both raced wide throughout.

 

The greyhound TRU BLU DASH was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the stomach muscle and was stood down for a period of 21 days.
