The greyhound STORM RAIDER performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.87.
The greyhound DESPERADO BOY performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 20.07.
The greyhound SIMPLY MAGIC performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.46.
The greyhound SMOKE AND MIRROR performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 20.12.
LADY STARGAZER was best to begin. MAGIUC ESCAPE was slow to begin. JANIE GOTTA GUN checked off the heels of SHAYLOR JOE and lost ground entering the back straight. MAGIC ESCAPE and CELS BEAU bumped in the back straight resulting in interference to LA CHASE RAPIDE. BEST STRATEGY checked off the heels of LADY STARGAZER and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight. LADY STARGAZER and BEST STRATEGY bumped in the front straight resulting in some inconvenience to BEST STRATEGY. LADY STARGAZER and SHAYLOR JOE bumped prior to the finish line.
EARLY SHIRLEY was best to begin. LA MYRA RAPIDE was tightened for racing room shortly after the start and checked off the heels of EARLY SHIRLEY. LA MYRA RAPIDE checked off the heels of NAOMI ROSE HI and lost ground in the back straight. LA MYRA RAPIDE and COSMIC LAPTOP bumped in the back straight. WHO DAT GUN checked off the heels of LA MYRA RAPIDE and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight. WHO DAT GUN raced very wide in the home straight.
The greyhound WHO DAT GUN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 3 – Maiden Heat 2 331m
The start of this race was delayed by one and half minutes due to interstate harness racing running late.
Even start. AUNTY FEAR was very slow to begin. LEADFOOT EXPRESS checked off the heels of LAY OLIVIA and lost ground back onto ZARA MAGIC entering the back straight resulting in interference to CRAZY TRAIN and DON’T KNOCK PAT. AUNTY FEAR and LEADFOOT EXPRESS bumped on the turn out of the back straight.
Race 4 – Novice 331m
Even start. KILDONAN KID checked off COSMIC REVENGE and lost some ground shortly after the start. GARDA BLUE raced wide into the home straight. The judge’s placing semaphored and confirmed by the judge following the conclusion of the race were the numbers eight, five, one and three. The judge then reversed his placings after the ‘all clear’ was semaphored giving the numbers as eight, five, three and one. Subsequently stewards acting under GAR 14 (2) (g) removed the judge from his duties for the remainder of the meeting and appointed a substitute judge.
Race 5 – Novice 331m
Even start. YOWIE HUNTER was tightened for racing room and lost ground shortly after the start. ALYSSA’S DREAM improved onto the heels of NIGHT TERROR approaching the turn out of the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing ground. OUR ISLAND HOME was also inconvenienced as a result of the incident. YOWIE HUNTER raced wide on the turn out of the back straight. IMA TALENT checked across the heels of GAMINE on the turn into the front straight. NIGHT TERROR shifted out across the heels of ALYSSA’S DREAM to race wide in the front straight. YOWIE HUNTER raced wide in the home straight.
Race 6 – 5th
Grade 395m
Even start. GET INVOLVED was slow to begin. Shortly after the start THRILLA MOMENT shifted in tightening TAYTO in onto PLUM JAM, in turn onto ORE DE KAHN resulting in TAYTO checking off the heels of THRILLA MOMENT causing interference to TRACKIE CHAN and ABBY’S MAGIC. Further interference occurred MR. MARAUDER checking off the heels of THRILLA MOMENT with MR. MARAUDER becoming unbalance and moving out causing interference to TAYTO and ABBY’S MAGIC. GET INVOLVED, TAYTO and ABBY’S MAGIC raced tight to the finish line.
Race 7 – 3/4th Grade 395m
Even start. CUZZY BROMAC and SUEN’S CRUISER bumped as the start was effected resulting in SUEN’S CRUISER becoming unbalanced. CUZZY BROMAC checked off the heels of SUEN’S CRUISER and lost ground on the turn into the back straight. ELIRA JANE checked off the heels of CUZZY BROMAC and lost ground prior to entering the back straight. TRAV’S MAGIC improved onto the heels of LAURYN’S BEST on the turn out of the back straight, resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing ground. LAURYN’S BEST was tightened for racing room between HOLLYWOOD HEARTS and ELIRA JANE on the turn into the front straight resulting in LAURYN’S BEST losing considerable ground and HOLLYWOOD HEARTS becoming unbalanced and losing ground. ELIRA JANE and HOLLYWOOD HEARTS bumped entering the front straight. MAJESTIC BEACH raced wide in the home straight.
The greyhound LAURYN’S BEST was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 8 – Best 8 395m
Even start. General tightened occurred on the turn into the back straight resulting in WAZZA KING losing considerable ground. ZABALETA also lost ground. LAKODA DAWN suffered inconvenience and FASHION ADVICE.
Race 9 – 5th Grade 395m
MATT’S COURAGE, CALL ME AUSSIE and SMASH TO FEAR were slow to begin. MACARENA MISS and VEE ROCKET bumped on the turn into the back straight. MATT’S COURAGE checked off the heels of CALL ME AUSSIE entering the back straight resulting in MATT’S COURAGE losing considerable ground tailing off to finish a distant last. VEE ROCKET checked off the heels of SMASH TO FEAR and lost some ground on the turn out of the back straight. SOMERSET SUPREME and MACARENA MISS bumped on the turn into the front straight. SOMERSET SUPREME checked across the heels of MACARENA MISS in the front straight.
The greyhound MATT’S COURAGE was vetted and
found to have suffered an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down
for a period of 6 weeks.
Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m
ALBARTROSS was best to begin. MIDNIGHT HAYZE and KOKOMO BEACH were marginally slow to begin. OKA’S ANGEL and SMASHNIAK MARS were slow to begin. MIDNIGHT HAYZE and KOKOMO BEACH bumped on the turn into the back straight resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing ground causing interference to ARTISAN WARRIOR. OKA’S ANGEL checked off the heels of MIDNIGHT HAYZE and lost ground on the turn into the front straight. STANDOUT raced wide in the back straight.
Race 11 – Masters 395m
ALOTA TALK was best to begin. NOT WORTH IT and MALEFICENT were slow to begin. ALOTA TALK lost ground sharply on the turn into the back straight resulting in that greyhound falling back through the field and taking no further part in the race. SPIT IT OUT checked off the heels of SUDOKU REBEL and lost ground entering the back straight.
The greyhound ALOTA TALK was vetted and found
to have suffered an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a
period of 6 weeks.
