VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 331m

Even start with HAZY GAZE and GRIMM’S BOY marginally slow to begin.  TO BIRDIES was tightened for racing room and lost ground shortly after the start.  LA CHASE RAPIDE was tightened for racing room and lost ground approaching the turn out of the back straight.  WITCH HUNTER and ATOMIC ACE bumped on the turn into the front straight resulting in ATOMIC ACE becoming unbalanced and losing ground.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 1 331m

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. B Canty in relation his greyhounds nominated in this race and race 3.  Mr. Canty advised stewards that the greyhounds had trialled at The Gardens and they had also trailed at his own track.  He was quite satisfied with the trials and the performances that the greyhound did.  He also advised stewards that in his opinion the greyhounds raced competitively tonight.

 

The start of this race was delayed 1.5 minutes due to an interstate harness race.

 

Even start.  FLEXI DAY shifted out on the turn out of the back straight bumping BUMPING BULL causing that greyhound to be checked and lose considerable ground.  FLEXI DAY continued to shift out bumping WAYNE OUTWIDE resulting in that greyhound becoming unbalanced and losing ground.  FLEXI DAY and JUST A THURSDAY bumped on several occasions in the back straight.  BUMPING BULL raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Heat 2 331m

Even start.  BAMBI’S BILLIONS and THOMAS ROSE HI bumped on several occasions in the back straight.  BAMBI’S BILLIONS, THOMAS ROSE HI and FAST DANCER all bumped on the turn out of the back straight resulting in THOMAS ROSE HI being checked and losing ground.  BAMBI’S BILLIONS and FAST DANCER bumped on the turn out of the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing ground.  BAMBI’S BILLIONS checked across the heels of FAST DANCER approaching the turn into the front straight.  BIG CHICKEN and THOMAS ROSE HI bumped on the turn into the front straight.

 

Race 4 – Novice 331m

LADY OLIVIA was best to begin.  GARDA BLUE checked off the heels of KELTIC CHIEF and lost ground in the back straight.  GALWAY MAGIC checked off the heels of KELTIC CHIEF and lost ground approaching the turn out of the back straight resulting in interference to KASEY’S TURBO.  GUMTREE KID and GARDA BLUE also suffered some inconvenience as a result of the incident.  GUMTREE KID checked off the heels of GARDA BLUE approaching the turn into the front straight.  GARDA BLUE raced wide in the back straight.  GARDA BLUE and GALWAY MAGIC raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound GALWAY MAGIC was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 5 – Maiden Final 331m

HENDERSON BLACK was best to begin.  DOGMATIC and ROMEO RAGTOP were slow to begin.  SHAYLOR JOE checked off the heels of FREEWAY BURNER and lost ground entering the back straight resulting in interference to DOGMATIC.  MASTER MAGOO checked off the heels of ROMEO RAGTOP in the back straight resulting in interference to BOXING ROO GIRL.  SHAYLOR JOE and MASTER MAGOO bumped on the turn into the front straight resulting in MASTER MAGOO checking across the heels of BOXING ROO GIRL.  SHAYLOR JOE and DOGMATIC bumped heavily on the turnout of the back straight, resulting in DOGMATIC becoming unbalanced and losing considerable ground.  HENDERSON BLACK shifted wide entering the front straight forcing GRAND ROSIE to race wide.  DOGMATIC raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound DOGMATIC was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade 395m

EPSILON and MACARENA MISS were slow to begin.  ROYAL PRIZE and FABULOUS KATIE bumped shortly after the start.  MAGIC IT UP checked off the heels of FABRICATED and lost ground on the turn into the back straight.  Shortly after MISS ELEGANCE checked off the heels of FABRICATED and also lost ground.  MAGIC IT UP checked off the heels of MISS ELEGANCE in the back straight, resulting in interference to MACARENA MISS approaching the turn out of the back straight.  FABRICATED and ROYAL PRIZE bumped on the turn into the front straight.  DEIJA MAGIC and FABULOUS KATIE bumped on the turn into the front straight resulting in DEIJA MAGIC checking across the heels of FABULOUS KATIE causing both greyhounds to become unbalanced and lose ground.  EPSILON raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 7 – 3/4th Grade 395m

ALBARTROSS was best to begin.  STRIKE A DEAL and CUZZY BROMAC bumped shortly after the start.  REGATTA checked off the heels of ALBARTROSS and lost ground on the turn into the back straight.  WALLY WHO CALLS checked off the heels of STRIKE A DEAL and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight.  WAZZ’S FANTASY checked off the heels of REGATTA and lost ground on the turn into the front straight resulting in interference to WALLY WHO CALLS.

 

Race 8 – Best 8 395m

DIAMOND OSPREY was best to begin with SUEN’S CRUISER, WAZZA KING and TARMAC BLACK marginally slow to begin.  MODERN MISS crossed shortly after the start tightening HOWARD HENO in onto THRILLA MOMENT, resulting in interference to BAY OF SPRITE and WAZZA KING.  HOWARD HENO checked across the heels of MODERN MISS prior to entering the back straight.  BAY OF SPRITE checked across the heels of MODERN MISS entering the back straight.

 

The greyhound WAZZA KING was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 395m

Even start with ART OF CONFUSION marginally slow to begin.  On the 1st turn after the start OAKEY SMOKEY checked off the heels of FABULOULS WALL and lost ground back onto ART OF CONFUSION.  Shortly after OAKEY SMOKEY and BING VALE bumped resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing ground.  LEADFOOT MAGIC checked off the heels of IVORY and lost ground on the turn into the back straight resulting in interference to OAKEY SMOKEY and ART OF CONFUSION.  BRIGANTINE and ART OF CONFUSION bumped just prior to the finish line.

 

The greyhound OAKEY SMOKEY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the NEAR HIND and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 331m

Even start with INNER WISDOM slow to begin.  BLUE LEXUS checked off the heels of KIRI BELLE on the turn into the back straight resulting in BLUE LEXUS falling causing interference to JACK MURRAY and CASEY UNDERCOVER.  GOLDEN LENNY checked off the heels of SHAYLOR CHARLIE and lost considerable ground prior to turning out of the back straight.  GOLDEN LENNY, PURE BEAUTY and KIRI BELLE bumped on the turn into the front straight.

 

The greyhound BLUE LEXUS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 11 – Masters 395m

Even start with BARRIE BOJANGLES and HARA’S LUKEY slow to begin.  BARRIE BOJANGLES checked off the heels of BLUE DEN and lost ground on the turn into the back straight.  BAIDEN ROSE HI checked off the heels of ASHLEY BELLE and lost ground on the turn into the back straight, resulting in some inconvenience to HARA’S LUKEY.  HARA’S LUKEY lost ground after entering the back straight for no apparent reason and took no further competitive part in the race.  BLUE DEN and SHRUB’S CRUSADER bumped on the turn into the front straight.  SHRUB’S CRUSADER raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound HARA’S LUKEY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side hock and was stood down for a period of 28 days.
