VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound DRAGON GEORGE performed a Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.76.

 

The greyhound ELL’S ALL CLASS performed a 6 month trial over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.41.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 520m

LET’S GO SNOW and GAGAN LASSOO were best to begin.  ALL IN SHIRAZ was slow out.  AUNTY FEAR was slow to leave the boxes and lost considerable ground when the start was released.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight CYNO STEIN was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after HAZY GAZE and LEGAL FANTASY collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ALL IN SHIRAZ contacted the heels of AUNTY FEAR causing both greyhounds to be checked.  Entering the back straight CYNO STEIN was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound AUNTY FEAR was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. M James that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 520m

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight MIDNIGHT BLISS and BLISS BOMB bumped causing both greyhounds to be hampered.

 

The greyhound MIDNIGHT BLISS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned Mr. M Zammit trainer’s representative reported that the greyhound has only recently entered Ms. S Zammit’s kennel and whilst they were satisfied with its previous run on 21 December 2015 he expressed disappointment with the greyhound’s performance in tonight’s event.  He stated that it had worked well leading up to the race and they were expecting a forward showing.  He further stated that having trained its full sister where that greyhound had raced over the 600m he was of the view that MIDNIGHT BLISS may required the longer racing distance.  He stated that MIDNIGHT BLISS in his view would benefit from future racing amongst experienced greyhounds.  Stewards were of the view that the performance did not warrant any action taken against the greyhound however, will be closely monitoring its future racing.  Mr. Zammit’s explanation was noted.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

CURIOUS STYLE was best to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight EL MUFASA was tightened for racing room, made contact with the running rail, checked and lost ground.  Shortly afterwards BATTY LOVES BEER checked off the heels of CARTEL QUEEN and was hampered as a result.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight EL MUFASA, CYNO KING and DASH OF FAITH collided causing all greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight LOCHILIME made heavy contact with the hindquarters CYNO KING, shifted out and made heavy contact with EL MUFASA causing all 3 greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.

 

The greyhound EL MUFASA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound GOOD YEAR was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 4 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight EL GALO GIRL, KING’S GEM, FABULOUS BILL, JAYDEN LASS, LORIAN ADITI and ALLEZ DE BRAVE all raced tight with all greyhounds being checked to varying degrees.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 520m

Even start.  CYNDIE’S MAGIC was slow to muster speed shortly after the start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight MISTY SANNETTE made contact with the running rail.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight WAIKARIE WARRIOR made heavy contact with the hindquarters of SPRING DREAM causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Shortly after WAIKARIE WARRIOR shifted out and made heavy contact with KIRI BELLE causing that greyhound to be checked and shift out and made contact with PEBBLE BAY, causing all 3 greyhounds to be checked and lose considerable ground.  Leaving the back straight ALPHA ARES was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the front straight CYNDIE’S MAGIC and SPRING DREAM collided.

 

The greyhound MISTY SANNETTE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the back and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

 

Race 6 – 3/4th Grade 520m

Even start.  SANNETTE CHOP was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start SLAYER RETURN shifted out.  Shortly after BREMER shifted in.  Leaving the front straight BULL TITAN and BLUE SCORPION collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose considerable ground.  SANNETTE CHOP was hampered as a result.   Rounding the turn into the front straight GEORGINA and SLAYER RETURN collided.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade 600m

RADLEY RETURN was best to begin.  Approaching the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion DEEP DESPAIR was momentarily tightened for racing room, hampered and lost some ground.  Leaving the front straight STRING QUARTET checked off the heels of MISS HUSSY, shifted out and made contact with DEEP DESPAIR, causing both greyhounds to be checked.

 

The greyhound STRING QUARTET was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Final 520m

TAYTO was best to begin.  IRINKA SHANE was slow out.  Shortly after the start CABARET TONIGHT was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight CABARET TONIGHT, GARRANGAY DUK and TRULY UNIQUE all raced tight causing each greyhound to be hampered and lose ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight TAYTO, I’M ALL STRIPES and IRINKA SHANE raced tight resulting in I’M ALL STRIPES and IRINKA SHANE being checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight GARRANGAY DUK contacted the heels of TRULY UNIQUE causing both greyhounds to be hampered and lose ground.  Entering the front straight IRINKA SHANE contacted the heels of TAYTO causing it to shift out and come into heavy contact with I’M ALL STRIPES, resulting in both greyhounds being checked and lose ground.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m

MISS GLENREAGH was best to begin.  DOUBLE STORM was slow out.  Shortly after the start DOWN THEY CAME clipped the heels of LOCKET IN TEDDY and was momentarily hampered.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight DOWN THEY CAME contacted the heels of FEISTY FIE, shifted out and lost considerable ground.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m

ART OF CONFUSION and RATATAT were best to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight ASHLEY BELLE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after THAT’S INSANE, FEAR THE RECALL and HENRY JUDGE all raced tight, resulting in each greyhound being tightened and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ART OF CONFUSION and TASER SHOCK collided resulting in ART OF CONFUSION being checked and losing ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight ASHLEY BELLE made contact with the hindquarters of THAT’S INSANE causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.
