VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound NATES FIRST performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 331m in a time of 20.34.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 520m

Even start.  MR. COLLISION was slow into stride as the start was effected.  ROCK THE VILLAGE and AMELIA STAR bumped shortly after the start resulting in ROCK THE VILLAGE becoming unbalanced and losing ground.  MISTER DEBONAIR, AMELIA STAR and TREBLIG LUCIA bumped on the turn out of the front straight resulting in AMELIA STAR and MISTER DEBONAIR losing ground and TREBLIG LUCIA losing some ground and racing wide into the turn.  TREBLIG LUCIA and MISTER DEBONAIR bumped approaching the turn out of the back straight.  ROCK THE VILLAGE raced wide in the back straight.

 

The greyhound TREBLIG LUCIA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards questioned trainer Mr. G Gilbert in relation to the performance of the greyhound.  Mr. Gilbert advised he had not supported the greyhound tonight and it was the greyhound’s 1st start in a field of 8.  Mr. Gilbert also stated he was surprised that the greyhound raced wide in the back straight and he also further stated the he would trial the greyhound on several occasions prior to starting again.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Final 520m

Even start with BLISS BOMB and KIALLA slow to begin.  HARA’S WHOSH shifted shortly after the start bumping UNIQUE KALEESI in onto KIALLA.  UNIQUE KALEESI and HARA’S WHOSH raced tight and bumped on several occasions in the front straight on the 1st occasion.  HEALTH RETREAT shifted out on the turn out of the front straight bumping UNIQUE KALEESI out onto HARA’S WHOSH resulting in UNIQUE KALEESI becoming unbalanced and losing some ground and HARA’S WHOSH raced wide.  HEALTH RETREAT and KIALLA bumped on the turn into the back straight resulting in interference to UNIQUE KALEESI and HARA’S WHOSH.  HEALTH RETREAT checked across the heels of KIALLA and lost some ground approaching the turn out of the back straight.

 

The greyhound UNIQUE KALEESI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound HARA’S WHOSH was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

Even start with MAJOR GENERAL slow to begin.  DARCY’S FANTASY and COUTA GODDESS bumped on several occasions in the front straight on the 1st occasion.  REFUND REQUIRED shifted in approaching the turn out of the front straight on the 1st occasion bumping COUTA GODDESS causing that greyhound to lose considerable ground and further shifting in bumping DARCY’S FANTASY, causing that greyhound to become unbalanced and bump SOOT SPRITE.  SOOT SPRITE shifted out on the turn out of the front straight bumping DARCY’S FANTASY and forcing that greyhound wide.  COUTA GODDESS and GLENALLON ZULU bumped approaching the turn into the back straight resulting in COUTA GODDESS shifting out checking across the heels of SOOT SPRITE, becoming unbalanced and bumping DARCY’S FANTASY, causing that greyhound to fall.  SOOT SPRITE and REFUND REQUIRED raced wide in the back straight.  MAJOR GENERAL checked across the heels of UNIQUE GHOSTY and lost some ground on the turn out of the back straight.

 

The greyhound DARCY’S FANTASY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  SKETCHY AIMY, SPIRITED REVENGE, HER FAULT and COMMANDER CLOUD all bumped heavily in the front straight on the 1st occasion resulting in COMMANDER CLOUD, HER FAULT and SPIRITED REVENGE becoming unbalanced and losing ground and causing some interference to BURNELLE.  SPIRITED REVENGE checked off the heels of BURNELLA and lost ground back onto HER FAULT on the turn out of the front straight.  BRAE HEART checked across the heels of MAGICAL YESSAM and lost ground in the turn into the back straight.  SPIRITED REVENGE checked across the heels of BRAE HEART and lost ground on the turn into the home straight.  SPIRITED REVENGE and BRAE HEART bumped just prior to the finish line.

 

Stewards questioned the trainer of SPIRITED REVENGE Mr. M Cuneo in relation to the greyhound’s racing manners in particular in the front straight.  After viewing the film and speaking with Mr. Cuneo stewards offered the benefit of the doubt to the greyhound and Mr. Cuneo was advised of same.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 520m

Even start.  HOOP DREAMS crossed from a wide position shortly after the start tightening MASTER CODY in onto BLUE HOUDINI, causing both these greyhounds to lose ground.  HOOP DREAMS checked off the heels of SEND A MESSAGE and lost ground approaching the turn out of the front straight on the 1st occasion.  BLUE HOUDINI checked off the heels of MASTER CODY became unbalanced shifting out and checked across HOOP DREAMS.  HOOP DREAMS checked across the heels of BLUE HOUDINI and lost some ground approaching the turn into the front straight.  MASTER CODY and HOOP DREAMS bumped on the turn into the home straight.  BLUE HOUDINI raced wide in the back straight.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 520m

Even start.  MR. CODY jumped awkwardly as the boxes opened and lost ground as the start was effected.  LITTLE RAMONA was tightened for racing room and lost ground approaching the turn out of the front straight on the 1st occasion.  DARCY’S CURSE checked off the heels of I’M ALL STRIPES on the turn out of the front straight resulting in DARCY’S CURSE bumping COUTA MODEL, causing some inconvenience to that greyhound and DARCY’S CURSE continued to lose ground causing interference to LITTLE RAMONA, and in turn to MR. CODY.  GEORGE GALLON raced wide in the back straight.  DARCY’S CURSE and LITTLE RAMONA bumped on the turn into the home straight.  GEORGE GALLON raced wide in the home straight.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade 600m

VICTORY PRINCE was best to begin.  SUNNYSIDE JAY checked across the heels of PASSIVE PROTEST and lost ground on the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion.  PASSIVE PROTEST also lost some ground as a result of the incident.  SUNNYSIDE JAY raced wide in the front straight on the 1st occasion.  CHEVALEIR NUIT and ART OF CONFUSION bumped on the turn out of the front straight.  SUNNYSIDE JAY and GUNNA WINK bumped on the turn out of the front straight.  VICTORY PRINCE and SUNNYSIDE JAY raced wide in the back straight.  SUNNYSIDE JAY and SILKY OAK bumped approaching the turn out of the back straight.  VICTORY PRINCE, CHEVALEIR NUIT and SUNNYSIDE JAY raced wide in the home straight.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Final 520m

CHADOR KAHN was best to begin.  PLUM JAM and STILL COUNTING were slow to begin.  BIG EASY RED and CHADOR KAHN bumped approaching the turn out of the front straight on the 1st occasion.  CHADOR KAHN was tightened for racing room between PLUM JAM and TOBIAS RUMBLE and lost ground on the turn into the back straight.  BIG EASY RED and STILL COUNTING bumped entering the back straight.  STILL COUNTING checked across the heels of BIG EASY RED just prior to the finishing line.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m

RIDES ON SCOOTER was best to begin.  SHAYLOR GEORGE checked off the heels of GOOD GIRL JANICE shortly after the start resulting in SHAYLOR GEORGE becoming unbalanced losing ground.  KEWIN UP shifted out in the front straight on the 1st occasion bumping PURELY PENNY out onto FABRICATED onto PURE BEAUTY, resulting in the 4 greyhounds becoming unbalanced racing wide and all losing ground.  KEWIN UP shifted out on the turn out of the front straight causing some interference to SHAYLOR GEORGE.  GOOD GIRL JANICE raced wide into the back straight forcing PURE BEAUTY to race wide.  RIDES ON SCOOTER and GOOD GIRL JANICE bumped on the turn into the home straight.

 

The greyhound SHAYLOR GEORGE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 10 – 4/5th Grade 395m

SUPA SMOOTH OSTI was best to begin.  TOKATEE KAHN was slow to begin. DIAMOND OSPREY and LAST SEINE bumped approaching the turn into the back straight resulting in some inconvenience to FAST CODY.  MACY DIAMONDS checked off the heels of FAST CODY and lost ground on the turn into the back straight.  SUPA SMOOTH OSTI checked off the heels of BLACK STEEL and lost ground approaching the back straight.  GOOD GESTURE checked off the heels of LAST SEINE and lost ground entering the back straight.  MACY DIAMONDS and FAST CODY bumped on the turn into the home straight.
