The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.
Race 2 GO FINN
Race 3 SMYLEE SERENADE
Race 2 SCOTCH MAGIC Injured in running, near hind leg, 21 days
Race 5 CHECK THE WING Injured in running, off hind webbing, 14 days
WILDASH WHISPER was best to begin. Shortly after the start MAGIC WISP was tightened between TEAM TOKALON and SHOTGUN LADY. Entering the back straight SHOTGUN LADY shifted in tightening TEAM TOKALON which shifted wide. TEAM TOKALON raced wide entering the top turn. WILDASH WHISPER and SHOTGUN LADY raced tight over the concluding stages.
GO FINN and GIVE ME TIME were best to begin with WINFIELD ROCKY slow. Approaching the back straight GO FINN shifted in tightening HOT BUBBLES which lost ground. Approaching the top turn GIVE ME TIME shifted in checking SCOTCH MAGIC which became severely unbalanced and lost significant ground.
The greyhound GO FINN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
The
greyhound SCOTCH MAGIC was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near
hind leg and was stood down for a period of 21 days.
Race 3 – 5th
Grade 410m
LISTEN was slow to begin with GOT IT WRONG and ETOPIA best. Entering the back straight MALIAN REIGN and LEE LARNI were tight. Approaching the top turn ON DECK shifted in tightening SMYLEE SERENADE.
Stewards spoke to the trainer of LISTEN Mr. J Schafer in regards to the greyhound’s improved performance. Mr. Schafer made reference to the greyhound’s good performance at Townsville on the 9th June, and also noted to stewards that the greyhound had been trialing in an impressive fashion of recent. Stewards accepted Mr. Schafer’s explanation.
The greyhound SMYLEE SERENADE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 4 – Cairns Grand Prix
Final 544m
SELFIE and COSMIC LAMP were slow to begin with SNAKE PROOF best. Shortly after the start SNAKE PROOF, GUMLOW STAR, DUEL ‘EM UP and POST BOX raced tight and bumped. Approaching the 1st turn GUMLOW STAR and DUEL ‘EM UP came together and as a result DUEL ‘EM UP and TOKALON TORNADO were forced wide into the turn.
Race 5 – 4th
Grade 410m
SUPER STORY was best to begin with MY FIRT NINJA slow. Approaching the 1st turn TITO and TOKALON HOTSHOT came together and TOKALON HOTSHOT was forced onto the running of CHECK THE WING, which was inconvenienced and lost ground. Approaching the top turn CASH QUEEN shifted in hampered STARZAR GOLD.
The
greyhound CHECK THE WING was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the
off hind webbing and was stood down for a period of 14 days.
