GENERAL

 

The greyhound FEAR THE SURF failed a stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m.

 

The greyhound COST A QUID performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.29 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks except Brisbane.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 431m

MILDUE and NO GUN were slow to begin.  Entering the 1st turn NURSEY WARD, EAT SOME CAKE and DASHING CHARGER raced tight and unbalanced.  At the same time KAPALUA shifted in checking ON TIGHT LINES continuing through the turn. NURSEY WARD and EAT SOME CAKE came together and as a result EAT SOME CAKE was forced to shift out onto the running of KAPALUA checking this greyhound.  At the same time ON TIGHT LINES and DASHING CHARGER collided.  Entering the back straight EAT SOME CAKE improved onto the heels of MILDUE and both greyhounds were checked.  Entering the home straight NO GUN and STOLE MY HEART came together.  Approaching the winning post NO GUN improved to the outside of DASHING CHARGER and turned its head inwards towards this greyhound.

 

The greyhound NO GUN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. J Pay that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 431m

RUM RAMBLER was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn CLASSY BAMQUIN was tightened between GO FOR HOME and WESTMEAD LASS and lost ground.  CLASSY BAMQUIN was wide through the back straight.  Entering the top turn WESTMEAD LASS, GUNNADOO RAIDER and GO FOR HOME were tight.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Final 431m

LONESOME DUK was best to begin with OUR ELITE and ALMOST DODGY slow.  Through the 1st turn JANE’S JEZABEL shifted in tightening OUR ELITE and ALMOST DODGY.  Passing the catching pen MAYWYNS PING shifted out off the heels of DAVID’S MEMORY.  Shortly after, ALMOST DODGY shifted out checking JANE’S JEZABEL and OUR ELITE.  Entering the top turn OUR ELITE shifted in checking ALMOST DODGY.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

LOAD ME UP was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn HELL’S ENEMY, SPRING CLOVER and KAR BLU raced tight and unbalanced.  Shortly after, HELL’S ENEMY improved onto the heels of FAMECHON and at the same time BUSTED FLAT collided with FAMECHON, forcing this greyhound to lose ground. SPRING CLOVER collided with FAMECHON as it lost ground and both greyhounds were inconvenienced.  Through the back straight OLD CROONER shifted out hampering SPRING CLOVER.  OLD CROONER and KAR BLU were wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound FAMECHON was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 431m

VELODROME was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn CEL’S PRIDE and ETHICAL STANDARD came together and became unbalanced.  Continuing through the turn NEVER THE TRUTH shifted in tightening FARMOR SENORITA which lost ground.  Over the concluding stages NEVER THE TRUTH improved to the outside of VELODROME and turned its head inwards towards this greyhound.

 

The greyhound NEVER THE TRUTH was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards advised trainer’s representative Mr. A Dargusch that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Final 520m

SPRING CANDY was best to begin with TRIGGER slowly away.  Approaching the 1st turn KNIGHTS TEMPLAR shifted out hampering FYRE GAL.  ROSDUE DYNAMO and TIME IS MONEY raced tight through the 1st turn.

 

The greyhound FYRE GAL was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 520m

SPRING BLITZ was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn HOLYWOOD ROSE HI shifted in checking BLACK MODEL.  As a result BLACK MODEL was forced out onto the running of CHEEKY FREYER hampering this greyhound.  SPRING FIRECHIEF was wide through the 1st turn.  STAR SPEED and SPRING FIRECHIEF came together passing the catching pen. Approaching the top turn STAR SPEED shifted in checking JOHN SNOW and SOLO MISS.

 

Race 8 – 3/4th Grade 431m

MAYWYN ZILCH was best to begin with COSMIC EYE slow.  Through the 1st turn OUTA TEMPO, SNOWBALL BOB, SUPA SMOOTH OSTI and SUNNY JIM raced tight and unbalanced.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m

BAT OUTA HELL was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start COSMIC CYCLONE and KING’S GEM came together. Through the 1st turn FENRIR shifted out checking COSMIC CYCLONE, which was forced out onto the running of KING’S GEM and ALEEAH JET.  MY LUXS ALIVE which was following improved onto the running of ALEEAH JET and was severely inconvenienced and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn BAT OUTA HELL shifted in and appeared to become unbalanced.  Through the top turn KING’S GEM shifted in checking COSMIC CYCLONE, which lost ground.  Continuing through the top turn ALEEAH JET shifted out off the heels of KING’S GEM.

 

Stewards advised trainer Mr. C Byers that a warning would be placed on the greyhound BAT OUTA HELL for its racing manners entering the top turn.  Mr. C Byers informed stewards on the subsequent day that the BAT OUTA HELL had sustained a near side pin injury and would require a short period of rehabilitation before returning to racing.

 

The greyhound MY LUXS ALIVE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off fore leg and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

COSMIC CREST was best to begin.  Shortly after the start IPSWICH MELODY, LANCASTER ROSE and SMOOTH STYLE collided.  Passing the catching pen OUT WEST shifted out forcing LANCASTER ROSE onto the running of SMOOTH STYLE.  Leaving the back straight OUT WEST improved onto the running of QUE SERA and was severely checked.  Over the concluding stages LUCY BENZ shifted in tightening COSMIC CREST.
