GENERAL

 

The greyhound SPRING CHOICE performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 520m in a time of 32.05 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound SERIOUS JOY performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 520m in a time of 32.32 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound COLLIDER GIRL performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.42.

 

The greyhound INSIDE PASS performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.81.

 

The greyhound HUDSONS BREAK performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.56.

 

The greyhound BLACK CASPER performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.74.

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 431m

FARMOPR OFF TAP was best to begin and SPRING ESTELLE was slow.  Shortly after the start EAT LESS CAKE and CARTEL QUEEN came together.  CARTEL QUEEN and KING SIZED raced tight through the 1st turn and KING SIZED was forced to shift out onto the running of TASER SHOCK, which was checked.  Entering the back straight TASER SHOCK shifted in checking EAT LESS CAKE which lost significant ground.  Approaching the top turn TASER SHOCK improved onto the heels of STOLE MY HEART and was hampered.  Shortly after STOLE MY HEART improved onto the heels of CARTEL QUEEN and both greyhounds were checked.  Through the top turn STOLE MY HEART shifted out off the heels of TASER SHOCK.  Entering the home straight JOKE’S ON ME and SPRIGN ESTELLE shifted out off the heels of the TASER SHOCK and collided.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 431m

GALWAY SUPERSTAR was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start STIRLING BLUE, FOXY JOKER and GALI BAARRI DUK and EAT SOME CAKE all came together and became unbalanced.  Through the 1st turn IRISIZE shifted in tightening SWEET MANTRA and EAT SOME CAKE.  Passing the catching pen FOXY JOKER and GALI BAARRI DUK collided and lost ground and GALWAY SUPERSTAR which was following was inconvenienced.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Final 431m

SHAYLOR CRASH was best to begin.  Shortly after the start EBONY’S SECRET and CULPER SPY came together.  Through the 1st turn YOU THERE JOAN, HE SAID YES and EBONY’S SECRET were tightened between SHAYLOR CRASH and SPRING MORNING and all greyhounds became unbalanced.  CULPER SPY and HAPPY GEORGE which were following were inconvenienced.  Passing the catching pen SHAYLOR CRASH shifted in tightening YOU THERE JOAN, causing this greyhound to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  EBONY’S SECRET which was following was severely inconvenienced as YOU THERE JOAN fell.

 

The greyhound YOU THERE JOAN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound EBONY’S SECRET was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

FEARLESS DUK was best to begin.  TEMNICK began awkwardly and collided with SPRING QUAYS.  Through the 1st turn FEARLESS DUK shifted in tightening RAGING THUNDER and SURFING PRINCE and PRINCESS TOUCH which was following was inconvenienced.  At the same time TEMNICK checked off the heels of GALWAY SUNSET.  Passing the catching pen PRINCESS TOUCH and SPRING QUAYS came together and SPRING QUAYS lost ground.  Approaching the top turn PRINCESS TOUCH shifted in hampering TEMNICK and SPRING QUAYS.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 431m

SKIPAWAY and ELLIE’S VOLUNTAS were best to begin.  Through the 1st turn SUPER LUIGI and ULTIMATE STAR came together.  Entering the back straight SPRING BLUESTONE and ELLIE’S VOLUNTAS collided.  ULTIMATE STAR was wide through the back straight.  Through the top turn SPRING BLUESTONE shifted in checking SKIPAWAY, which lost ground.  ULTIMATE STAR was wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound SPRING BLUESTONE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards questioned the trainer Mr. C Byers in regards to the greyhound’s below market expectation performance.  Mr. Byers noted to stewards that despite the greyhound’s win from the eight box in its previous start, he doesn’t believe that the greyhound performs at its best from that box.  He also made mention of the quick 1st section in the race, and the fact that SPRING BLUESTONE did receive some interference throughout the run.  Mr. Byers noted to stewards that the greyhound is drawn from box 1 in its next engagement and he expects an improved performance.

 

The greyhound SKIPAWAY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind leg and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 431m

LOVE LETTERS was best to begin and DASHING CANUTE was slow.  Shortly after the start CANDY CRUSH and MELODY SERENADE bumped as did THUNDER OF SPEED and SPRING MILLIE.  Shortly after, SPRING MILLIE shifted out across the running of THUNDER OF SPEED hampering this greyhound while LOVE LETTERS and PUB STAR collided.  Approaching the catching pen DASHING CANUTE shifted out off the heels of CANDY CRUSH checking THUNDER OF SPEED.  Approaching the top turn DASHING CANUTE was hampered as it improved onto the heels of SPRING MILLIE.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

BURWANA was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start BUTCHULLA BOY shifted in checking SPRING FIRECHIEF which was forced to shift and collide with BURWANA.  Down the home straight on the 1st occasion PEARLS ANGEL was tightened between BUTCHULLA BOY and MACNIVEK.  Entering the 1st turn BUTCHULLA BOY and RAZEN TOAST were tight and MACNIVEK which was following was hampered.  PEARLS ANGEL was wide through the 1st turn.  Racing through the 1st turn RAZEN TOAST shifted out hampering BUTCHULLA BOY.  Shortly after, BUTCHULLA BOY and MACNIVEK came together.  Continuing through the turn SPRING FIRECHIEF shifted out off the heels of PEARLS ANGEL.  Entering the top turn BUTCHULLA BOY improved onto the heels of RAZEN TOAST and was checked.  Through the top turn SAHARA GIRL and BUTCHULLA BOY were racing tight and became unbalanced.

 

The greyhound BUTCHULLA BOY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Heat 2 520m

SHANIA SIND was best to begin and SUNNYSIDE JAY, BEAR FOR BREAKY and TOBIAS RUMBLE were slow.  Approaching the 1st turn WAIKARIE WARRIOR shifted in checking SHANIA SIND.  TOBIAS RUMBLE and SPRING BLITZ which were following were inconvenienced.  As a result WINNING NOVA was forced to shift out and collide with BELLA NARCISSUS, which proceeded to race wide through the 1st turn.

 

The greyhound WINNING NOVA was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off hind leg and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m

BONNO BEACH was best to begin with PREMIER BEAR slow.  Through the 1st turn LOAD ME UP, NEVER THE TRUTH, PREMIER BEAR and ROCKET TRACEY collided and became unbalanced.  Shortly after, BONNO BEACH shifted in checking BOGIE FLYER.  Approaching the top turn BONNO BEACH and EL KHOBAR came together and EL KHOBAR lost ground.

 

The greyhound EL KHOBAR was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side stopper and was stood down for a period of 8 weeks.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

MAGIC KITCHEN was best to begin with ROYAL ALBERT and SECRET OCTANE slow.  Through the 1st turn NO PRISONERS, BONGANI, SPRING CLOVER and LITTLE SIZZLER were all tight and bumping.  SPRING CLOVER was forced to shift out onto the running of ROYAL ALBERT.  Through the top turn SPRING CLOVER and BONGANI were tight.  Entering the home straight SECRET OCTANE improved onto the heels of SPRING CLOVER and was checked.
