VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound GALWAY REAL DEAL performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.35 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound JET FAST performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.46 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

NAT MAN and SPRING BEAUTY were slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn TECHNO LEGEND tightened GLEBE KID, ELECTRIC BUNDY, DASHING CHARGER and SISTA TASHA with SISTA TASHA and DASHING CHARGER losing ground.  Shortly after, NAT MAN shifted out off the heels of ELECTRIC BUNDY.  Approaching the top turn ELECTRIC BUNDY and TECHNO LEGEND collided and became unbalanced.

 

The greyhound ELECTRIC BUNDY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 431m

MAYWYN MACEY was best to begin with MURSLEY BOUNCER and THOMAS GOOD slow.  Through the catching pen MAYWYN MACEY and SWEET MANTRA raced tight and became unbalanced and RAPID ROSE which was following was inconvenienced.  Approaching the top turn AVOID DAMAGE was tightened as MURSLEY BOUNCER improved to its outside and lost ground.  Through the top turn MAYWYN MACEY improved onto the heels of THOMAS GOOD and both greyhounds became unbalanced.  Entering the home straight THOMAS GOOD shifted out off the heels of MURSLEY BOUNCER and hampered RAPID ROSE and at the same time MAYWYN MACEY and AVOID DAMAGE came together.  Shortly after MAYWYN MACEY and MURSLEY BOUNCER collided.

 

The greyhound MURSLEY BOUNCER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. When questioned on the below market expectation performance of MURSLEY BOUNCER trainer Mr. B Harris stated to stewards that the greyhound does perform best with an uninhibited run, which it did not receive in this event.  He also made reference to the greyhound’s previous start where it was marred by another greyhound, and he believed this may have resulted in a lack of confidence.  Mr. Harris further advised stewards that he did support the greyhound in this event and going forward he will be looking to run the greyhound over the 331m distance at Albion Park. Stewards noted Mr. Harris’ comments.

 

Race 3 – Novice 431m

PAVER QUEEN was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn GOOD BYE JOAN, RYLI’S DREAMER and SPRING TWIG came together and became unbalanced.  HELLO JOAN which was following was inconvenienced.  PAVER QUEEN was wide through the back straight.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

PROTO PENNY was best to begin.  Shortly after the start BERNIE CHEE and ACHTUNG came together.  Entering the back straight HE CHEWS SHOES and PROTO PENNY collided and PROTO PENNY lost ground.  Approaching the top turn FLASHMAN SAM was tightened between CHARMING GIRL and BERNIE CHEE and became unbalanced and shifted wide.  Over the concluding stages PROTO PENNY shifted out bumping with LIANA.

 

The greyhound FLASHMAN SAM was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound MEMGEBEE was vetted and found to be suffering from post race distress syndrome. Notwithstanding this the greyhound was deemed ok by the Veterinary Surgeon and no stand down period was applied.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade Heat 1 431m

Even start.  Entering the back straight BANDALORE improved onto the hindquarters of SPRING BLUESTONE and both greyhounds became severely unbalanced and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight COSMIC CATCH shifted in checking SPRING BLUESTONE.

 

The greyhound BANDALORE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade Heat 2 431m

SIG SAUER was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn SO SWANKY and AUSPHIL GIRL bumped.  Entering the top turn BONGANI and STRONG STANLEY came together and STRONG STANLEY lost ground.  Through the top turn MIDNIGHT HUNTER checked STRONG STANLEY.

 

The greyhound MIDNIGHT HUNTER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. N Vohland was questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance and advised stewards that the greyhound does prefer an inside box, and tends to the rail throughout the run.  He further stated that while he didn’t believe MIDNIGHT HUNTER had the ability to win this event, he did support the greyhound to place and was disappointed with the run.  Stewards noted Mr. Vohland’s comments.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start NOT THE ONE shifted out checking WHIRLY WAY while COSMIC PAULY and SKINNY MIN came together.  Through the front straight WESTMEAD LASS shifted out hampering STRAYA.  Through the 1st turn COSMIC PAULY shifted off the heels of BIG YELLOW TAXI and hampered WESTMEAD LASS and proceeded to race wide through the 1st turn.  Through the 1st turn WHIRLY WAY and SKINNY MIN collided heavily with WHIRLY WAY becoming severely unbalanced.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Final 431m

OAKEY PARK was best to begin.  Shortly after the start MAGIC ANGEL shifted in colliding with TRU RYDER and tightening AL SENOR.  Through the 1st turn MAGIC ANGEL and RYLEE’S ROOKIER came together and SPRING CLOVER which was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the back straight MAGIC ANGEL shifted in contacting the running rail and lost ground as a result.  Entering the home straight HABANA FLEX shifted out hampering STANDOUT.

 

The greyhound MAGIC ANGEL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade Heat 3 431m

TUKULA and AMY’S ELITE were slow to begin with FEMME JOLIE and REGATTA best.  Through the 1st turn CHEEKY CHARMER, DIAMOND OSPREY, KING’S SON and AMY’S ELITE raced tight and bumped.  Through the 1st turn TUKULA shifted out hampering FEMME JOLIE.  Entering the back straight DIAMOND OSPREY shifted out hampering AMY’S ELITE.  Entering the top turn REGATTA shifted out hampering FEMME JOLIE.  Through the top turn TUKULA was inconvenienced on the heels of REGATTA.

 

Trainer Mr. C Byers was advised by that the greyhound TUKULA would be declared ‘hard to box’.

 

Race 10 – 4/5th Grade Heat 4 431m

ALLSORTS was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn BOGIE TOM, DIANNE’S PEARL, KIRI BELLE and EARNING all raced tight and bumped.  Entering the back straight ALLSORTS shifted out off the heels of SPANKY’S LEGEND checking KIRI BELLE and OUT WEST and lost ground.  Leaving the top turn KIRI BELLE and DIANNE’S PEARL raced tight.

 

The greyhound ALLSORTS was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the back and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
