GENERAL

 

The greyhound I’M SO SPEEDY failed a Return to Racing Trial over the distance of 431m.

 

The greyhound CORREEN’S LAD performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.88.

 

The greyhound YOUNG DALLAS failed a Return to Racing Trial over the distance of 431m.

 

The greyhound SLIP SLIDING performed a satisfactory 6 month trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.55.

 

The greyhound SIZE WON’T MATTER performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.63.

 

Trainer Mr. K Donaldson was fined $100 under Rule 23 for Failure to Scratch BOGIE ROCK.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 431m

Even start with SPRING ESTELLE slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight FOXY JOKER was tightened for racing room between OLYMPUS and SWEET DELIGHT and lost some ground.  Leaving the back straight SISTA TASHA and DOOLEY’S SPRITE came together resulting in DOOLEY’S SPRITE being severely checked and losing considerable ground.  FOXY JOKER was checked as a result of this incident.  Rounding the home turn DOOLEY’S SPRITE and FOXY JOKER came together with both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing some ground.  In the run to the finish SHELIA DOOLEY and SWEET DELIGHT bumped for some distance causing both greyhounds to be hampered.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 431m

Even start with GALWAY LIGHTNING and GUN LEGACY both slow to begin.  Shortly after the start SOCIAL DANCER and BAGO BAGO bumped causing BAGO BAGO to lose some ground.  GALWAY LIGHTNING contacted the running rail approaching the turn into the back straight which resulted in the greyhound losing considerable ground and taking no further competitive part in the race.

 

The greyhound GALWAY LIGHTNING was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Final 431m

SOMERSET SUPREME and BASHFUL BABE were best to begin.  VIV was slow to begin.  MUGGED ON TOUR shifted out rounding the turn into the back straight and raced wide for some distance.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight BASHFUL BABE contacted the heels of FARMOR OFF TAP causing it to lose ground and then shortly afterwards came into contact with VIV and as a consequence BASHFUL BABE lost further ground.  BASHFUL BABE raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

Even start.  NURSEY WARD, CULPER SPY and BRALYN BAUPLE were all slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight TOUCH OF CAJUN came into contact with the heels of WOODY’S RETURN causing it to lose some ground.  MIS CREDIT faltered in the back straight and took no further competitive part in the race.

 

The greyhound MISS CREDIT was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 431m

DIAMOND OSPREY, ALEEAH JET and NICHOLSON were best to begin.  Shortly after the start GLENOIT and OUT WEST were tightened between HOPPING HOUDINI and DIAMOND OSPREY, causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight DIAMOND OSPREY and ALEEAH JET came together resulting in ALEEAH JET being checked and losing some ground.  SPRING CANDY was checked as a result of this incident and lost some ground.  NICHOLSON raced wide rounding the home turn and in the front straight.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade Heat 1 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start SHOOP SHOOP SONG was tightened between WILL MEND and DON’T DOUBT ME.  Shortly afterwards DON’T DOUBT ME was tightened between MAGIC KITCHEN and WILL MEND.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight ANGRY ALICE was tightened between WILL MEND and WHIRLY WAY and as a consequence became unbalanced and fell.  Approaching the turn into the back straight SHOOP SHOOP SONG shifted out and made contact with MAGIC KITCHEN causing that greyhound to shift out and make contact with WILL MEND.  Both MAGIC KITCHEN and WILL MEND were severely hampered as a result of this incident.

 

Stewards reminded the club’s official starter R Mears to show due diligence when boxing ‘hard to box’ greyhounds as TUKULA was boxed in the front line at the same time as other front line greyhounds.

 

The greyhound ANGRY ALICE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound SHOOP SHOOP SONG was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. R Attard that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade Heat 2 520m

PREMIER BEAR and GATE SLINGER were tightened for racing room shortly after the start between SLEEPY MINE and NOT THE ONE.  HER’S NOT HIS was best to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight NOT THE ONE clipped the heels of HER FAULT causing it to race wide.  Entering the back straight NOT THE ONE clipped the heels of GATE SLINGER, resulting in it losing momentum.  Leaving the back straight PREMIER BEAR clipped the heels of HER FAULT as it was shifting ground.  Rounding the home turn into the front straight PREMIER BEAR shifted out and made contact with NOT THE ONE.

 

Trainer Mr. S Woods was questioned in regards to the performance of HER’S NOT HIS in today’s event in what appeared to be an improved performance on its previous form.  Mr. Woods informed stewards that HER’S NOT HIS is best suited and has raced well when drawn an inside boxes either 1 or 2 and he was confident in today’s event as he has been stepping the training regime of HER’S NO HIS to be able to race over the longer distance of 520m.  He further stated that it was his intentions to race where possible HER’S NOT HIS in the longer distances of 520m or further.  Mr. Woods’s comments were noted.

 

Stewards advised trainer Mr. C Byers that the greyhound PREMIER BEAR would be charged under Rule 69 (B) Failing to Pursue plus an injury, near side wrist, 10 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Final 520m

SPRING MILLIE was best to begin.  FYRE GAL clipped the heels of YALINGA shortly after the start causing it to lose momentum.  SUNNYSIDE JAY was slow to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight SUNNYSIDE JAY clipped the heels of BONNIE BRAE causing it to shift out and make contact with FYRE GAL causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  Entering the back straight SPRING BLITZ contacted the heels of BONNIE BRAE and lost momentum.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m

IPSWICH MELODY, NOTORIOUS LADY and MY DIEGO were best to begin.  CAUSEWAY CHARLE raced wide in the back straight.  Leaving the back straight SPLIT IT clipped the heels of AMY’S ELITE and lost some ground.  Rounding the home turn DOLLY BLOO shifted out and bumped OCTOBER SPRING causing that greyhound to lose ground.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

Even start.  Shortly after the start COST A QUID and AMY’S ELITE came together causing both greyhounds to be checked.  Shortly afterwards BARBARINO’S BOY was tightened between SPLIT IT and PRINCESS TOUCH resulting in that greyhound being checked and losing ground.  OCTOBER SPRING was checked as a result of this incident.
