The greyhound SEIZED ASSET performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.48.
Even start. ALL IN SHIRAZ began awkwardly and lost some ground shortly after the start. Shortly after the start NORDOC MAGIC and STEADY DRYVA collided. Rounding the turn the back straight STEADY DRYVA contacted the heels of NORDOC MAGIC and was hampered. Rounding the turn into the front straight MADDY’S RASCAL and YOU MAYBE RIGHT raced tight, which resulted in both greyhounds being hampered.
Even start. Shortly after the start ROSDUE GOANNA was momentarily tightened for racing room and was hampered. Shortly after SHAYLOR SAM, HEZA SIZE UP and LADY STARGAZER raced tight. Approaching the turn into the back straight ON THE CLOCK, SHAYLOR SAM, HEZA SIZE UP and LADY STARGAZER all raced tight, resulting in ON THE CLOCK, HEZA SIZE UP and LADY STARGAZER all to be checked. Shortly after upon straightening LADY STARGAZER shifted out and made contact with ROSDUE GOANNA causing that greyhound to shift out and make heavy contact with ROCKET’S ANGEL resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground. DODGY DANCER raced wide in the back straight and again in the run to the finish.

3 – Maiden Final 431m
IMA PIXIE, MONKEY’S UNCLE and GO BLACK BIDDY were best to begin. DASHING BOND was slow out. Shortly after the start WALLOON WIZARD, TABBERER and ROSCO BANG BANG raced tight resulting in each greyhound to be checked to varying degrees. Leading into the back straight TABBERER made heavy contact with the hindquarters of WALLOON WIZARD causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose considerable ground. In the back straight MONKEY’S UNCLE and ROSCO BANG BANG collided.
The greyhound TABBERER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
The greyhound WALLOON WIZARD was
vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood
down for a period of 14 days.
Race
4 – Novice 431m
MUGGED ON TOUR was best to begin. Shortly after the start RIVER ROSE HI, BOMBAY
ROLLER, SCAR’S BROTHER, HANNAH’S BELL and SNUBBING UNIT all raced tight with
each greyhound being checked to varying degrees. Shortly after CARLTON CREW, RIVER ROSE HI and
SNUBBING UNIT all collided. Rounding the
turn into the back straight RIVER ROSE HI and SNUBBING UNIT collided resulting
in both greyhounds being checked and losing considerable ground. Leaving the back straight HANNAH’S BELL and
SNUBBING UNIT collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.
When questioned, Mr. P O’Neil trainer’s representative explained that RIVER ROSE HI was having its 1st start since the 5 December 2015 as a result of not being able to obtain a run. In his view the greyhound had been trained well and was expecting a forward showing in today’s event. He stated that the greyhound was checked in the early stages of the race which effected its finishing position. He further stated that RIVER ROSE HI has somewhat of an action of throwing his hind leg wider which is its usual racing gait. The greyhound RIVER ROSE HI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Mr. O’Neill’s explanation was noted.

5 – 4/5th Grade 431m
URBAN STREET was best to begin. FAR FROM FEAR was slow out. Approaching the turn into the back straight GRIM CREEPER and LIL’ BIT SPARKY collided resulting in both greyhounds being checked and lose ground. Shortly after CHARLIE SPRITE was tightened for racing room checked and lost ground. Entering the back straight GRIM CREEPER was tightened for racing room and checked off the heels of CHARLIE SPRITE and lost ground. FAR FROM FEAR was hampered as a result of this incident. Approaching the turn out of the back straight CHARLIE SPRITE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Leaving the back straight RYLI’S RANGA contacted the heels of RODGER ROSE HI, checked and lost ground.

6 – 4/5th Grade 520m
ASTOUND YA, LUKAKU and GARRY JACK were best to begin. Approaching the turn out of the front straight TOKYO SWIFT and NOT LIKE TOMMY collided which resulted in NOT LIKE TOMMY falling and taking no further part in the race. TOYKO SWIFT and GATE SLINGER were severely checked as a result of this incident. ALPHA MIMOS raced wide rounding the turn out of the front straight. Leaving the back straight ASTOUND YA was tightened for racing room, checked across the heels of WHIRLY WAY and lost ground.
The greyhound NOT LIKE TOMMY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

7 – 5th Grade Final 520m
TAIPAN’S TIME was best to begin. CY TOLLIVER was slow out. PACIFIC CHAMP raced wide rounding the turn out of the front straight. Leaving the back straight SNOWBALL BAZZA was tightened for racing room, shifted out and made contact with CY TOLLIVER causing both greyhounds to be checked. CARIBBEAN JET was checked as a result of this incident. SUITE ALEXIS gave ground rounding the turn into the front straight.
The greyhound SUITE ALEXIS was
vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood
down for a period of 14 days.
Race
8 – Best 8 431m
VICKI ROSE HI was best to begin. FLASH HOUDINI was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground shortly after the start. Rounding the turn into the back straight SPRING PLANET collided with HOPPING HOUDINI causing that greyhound to shift out and make heavy contact with HEZ SO FAST, which in turn shifted out and made heavy contact with ALEEAH JET, causing both greyhounds to be severely checked. Shortly after SPRING MILLIE contacted the heels of FLASH HOUDINI resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground. Rounding the turn into the back straight HOPPING HOUDINI collided with ALEEAH JET causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground. Leaving the back straight FLASH HOUDINI ran onto the back of VICKI ROSE HI when that greyhound was giving ground and was hampered as a consequence.
The greyhound VICKI ROSE HI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards advised trainer’s representative Mr. P O’Neill that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks prior to nominating.
The greyhound HEZ SO FAST was vetted
and found to have suffered an injury to the near side hind toe and was stood
down for a period of 28 days.
Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m
JAHIMIA, KLOEIS PRIDE and ANTI AMIGO were best to begin. KNIGHTS TEMPLAR was slow out. Shortly after the start SHOT OF CAIN was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Approaching the turn into the back straight KLOEIS PRIDE and ANTI AMIGO bumped. Entering the back straight KNIGHTS TEMPLAR was tightened for racing room and checked over the heels of SPRING IT ON and lost ground. Leaving the back straight SPRING IT ON made heavy contact with the hindquarters of SHOT OF CAIN causing that greyhound to be checked and lose ground. In the front straight SPRING IT ON and KNIGHTS TEMPLAR bumped.
The greyhound SHOT OF CAIN was
vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind leg and was stood
down for a period of 14 days.

10 – 5th Grade 431m
HECTORMALEE, EMKAY BENZ and CRAZY VIXON were best to begin. Approaching the turn into the back straight MIDNIGHT HUNTER was tightened for racing room, checked across the hindquarters of MURBAH GOLD and lost considerable ground. WALLOON SMARTIE and HOBO JANE were checked as a result of this incident. In the back straight HOBO JANE contacted the hindquarters of WALLOON SMARTIE causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.
The greyhound MIDNIGHT HUNTER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
