Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

General:

Urine and hair samples were taken from Stowaway, Seriously, Autumn Storm, Bourne Model, Simulate, Paw Vortex, Zipping Dalila, Zipping Sweeny, Daysea’s Rory, Tagovailoa, Zipping Vivid, and out-of-competition samples from Valhalla at the kennels of trainer Tom Tzouvelis earlier today prior to leaving for the races tonight.

Race 1 – LADBROKES QUEENSLAND CUP (G1) HEAT 1 OPEN 710m

 

Gully Girl – checked and lost ground through turn out of the back straight on the first occasion and trailed the field for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination right hind back muscle strain. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Winifred Nora – collided with other runners and lost ground when in the back straight and on the turn out of the back straight on the second occasion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed small lacerations to both hind feet. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Race 2 – LADBROKES QUEENSLAND CUP (G1) HEAT 2 OPEN 710m

 

Raider’s Guide – Favourite; bumped and shifted wider on the turn out of the front straight and lost ground. Improved onto the heels of Whiskey Service when approaching the home turn and lost ground. Tightened for racing room when entering the home straight and was hampered. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Whiskey Service – was leading through the back straight on the second occasion and then commenced to give ground when rounding the turn out of the back straight. Was subsequently galloped on the heels by Raider’s Guide when approaching the home turn and lost ground. Tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground when entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 3 – LADBROKES QUEENSLAND CUP (G1) HEAT 3 OPEN 710m

 

Stewards delayed the All Clear to review the race replay in relation to the distance of the lure during the running of this event. Having reviewed all available camera angles, and through their own observations, Stewards were satisfied under the provisions of GAR 109(2) to permit a variance of the lure distance established in GAR 109(1), as in their opinion no greyhound had been advantaged or disadvantaged during the running of the event. Stewards then declared All Clear on the judge’s semaphored numbers of 1 – 3 – 4 – 6.

 

An assessment of the lure drivers control box was conducted which established an electrical fault. The back up system was implemented for the remainder of the races.

 

Race 4 - LADBROKES QUEENSLAND CUP (G1) HEAT 4 OPEN 710m

 

Goldstar Nadia – fell awkwardly in the catching pen after the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the right wrist. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Race 5 – LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 1 OPEN 520m

 

No reportable incidents.

 

Race 6 - LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 2 OPEN 520m

 

No reportable incidents.

 

Race 7 - LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 3 OPEN 520m

 

Cumbria Jack – collided with other runners when approaching the catching pen after the event and fell. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 8 - LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 4 OPEN 520m

 

No reportable incidents.

 

Race 9 - LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 5 OPEN 520m

 

No reportable incidents.

 

Race 10 - LADBROKES BRISBANE CUP (G1) HEAT 6 OPEN 520m

 

Gold Scotch – took several awkward strides when rounding the turn into the back straight and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Daysea’s Rory – a post-race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request revealed an offside wrist injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Stewards inquired into the post-race kennel security protocols for this race and were satisfied the integrity of the kennels had not been breached, however still reminded club officials of their responsibilities.

 

Race 11 - LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI MIXED 4/5 520m

 

No reportable incidents.
