VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 380m

MANCHU WOK was best to begin.  LONESOME MAX dwelt at the start.  Shortly after the start GAP YEAR shifted in across the running of LONESOME MAX.  Both greyhounds were checked.  COSMIC COSMO and GAP YEAR were both wide at the home turn.  On straightening PEARL OF MINGELA which was racing to the outside of SMILEY FEE FEE turned its head in towards that greyhound and in doing so failed to pursue the lure with due commitment.

 

A post race veterinary examination of the greyhound PEARL OF MINGELA failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Trainer Mr. R Olsen was advised that the greyhound PEARL OF MINGELA would be charged under the provisions of GAR69A Failure to Pursue, 1st offence, stood down for a period of 28 days and required to perform 1 satisfactory trial prior to nominating.

 

Race 2 – Novice 380m

BELIMBA HUSTLER was slowly away.  Approaching the 1st turn MISTIFIDE and BOY DODO came together.  BOY DODO became unbalanced as a result, losing momentum and taking no further competitive part in the event. Approaching the home turn FULL THROTTLE and SCORPIO JAY were racing tight and bumping. Both greyhounds became unbalanced and raced wide through the turn.

 

A post race veterinary examination of the greyhound FULL THROTTLE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

A post race veterinary examination of the greyhound SCORPIO JAY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of the greyhound BOY DODO failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Trainer Mr. J Forster was advised that a warning would be placed on the greyhound BOY DODO for performance bordering on unsatisfactory. Mr. Forster undertook to advise Stewards should BOY DODO display any sign of injury post race.

 

Race 3 – 5th Grade 380m

MOO MOO and WILLIAM MAC both began well. BLOND JUSTICE and MAYWYN’S JOSH both dwelt at the start. Approaching the 1st turn MAYWYN’S JOSH shifted in checking the running of MORAN’S WEIR which lost ground.

 

The greyhound BLONDE JUSTICE was vetted post-race and found to have sustained an injury to the near side hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 4 – 5th Grade 380m

ZIPPING MAX was best to begin. Shortly after the start VAR MONTE CARLO lost ground when tightened for running between SLEEPY MIME and WINFIELD ROCKY which was shifting in. Approaching the 1st turn ZIPPING MAX appeared to become unbalanced and lost momentum, taking no further competitive part in the event.

 

The greyhound ZIPPING MAX was vetted post-race and found to have sustained an injury to the near side groin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 380m

ON DECK and EUNICE LILLIAN both began well. KING CHONAILL and BLACK DENIM both dwelt at the start. Approaching the top turn EMINEM BLUE GIRL shifted out inconveniencing the running of EUNICE LILLIAN. BLACK DENIM and EUNICE LILLIAN came together at the home turn. EUNICE LILLIAN raced wide as a result. ON DECK and ABBI’S PRINCESS came together on straightening.  

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 498m

POWER CELL was best to begin. VELOCITY KYZON dwelt at the start. At the 1st turn BLUE HOUDINI shifted out inconveniencing the running of MINGELA COSMO and ELKINGTON. Entering the back straight MINGELA COSMO shifted in checking the running of LISTEN. MINGELA COSMO and ELKINGTON both raced wide through the back straight. MINGELA COSMO was wide at the home turn.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of the greyhound MINGELA COSMO failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 7 – 4th Grade 380m

WIND TRACKER was best to begin. FLIPPIN’ RIPPER, ALL BUT CENTRE and JUSTA BEAUTY were all slowly into stride. Approaching the top turn WIND TRACKER shifted out inconveniencing the running of COSMIC FREEZE. Approaching the home turn COACH LITTLE was inconvenienced when shifting out across the heels of WIND TRACKER. FLIPPIN’ RIPPER was wide at the home turn.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of the greyhound COSMIC FREEZE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 8 – Best 8 380m

CUT OUT PASS and DIVVY UP both began well. MAYWYNS MARTY was wide at the home turn.
