GENERAL

After the running of Race 1 Stewards and senior riders inspected the area of the track where a fall had occurred. This inspection highlighted a number of large divots that required repair prior to the program continuing. Stewards ordered that the Club undertake some remedial work to the affected area. After the work was undertaken, Stewards in the company of Senior Riders inspected the racing surface from the 200m- 50m point. The surface was repaired to a degree that all parties thought the racing surface was safe, for the program to continue. Due to the incident in Race 1 with an additional QAS vehicle being required and QAS staff required to attend to a Patron, Stewards in consultation with the Club ordered the following alterations to be made to the starting times of the remaining races on the program. Race 2- 3.15pm, Race 3- 3.40pm, Race 4- 4.10pm, and Race 5- 4.35pm.

In determining penalty Stewards noted Ms Periera’s excellent record in relation to this rule. This examination found no abnormalities and was subsequently passed fit to race.

GEE AND TEE was sedated by the attending veterinarian to allow the horse to be moved safely to enable QAS to provide treatment to Appr Jky J Metcalfe. A Veterinary examination was undertaken found wounds on the nose and above the left eye otherwise no significant findings were detected. Stewards advised Trainer Mr G Schrader that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again. QAS undertook a medical assessment of Appr Jky Metcalfe and subsequently conveyed her to Dalby Hospital for further examination. Acting on medical advice Stewards ordered a mandatory 12 day stand down from riding for Ms Metcalfe pending further medical advice being forthcoming. Due to Ms Metcalfe not being able to be interviewed by Stewards, an inquiry will be convened when all parties are available to establish the cause of the fall. Rider replacements for Appr Jky Metcalfe are as per the Stewards Summary.
