GENERAL
All runners at today’s meeting which raced at the Birdsville meeting yesterday, underwent a veterinary examination prior to racing and were subsequently cleared to start.
Stewards accepted all explanations from trainers regarding their late rider declarations.
Stewards permitted the following overweight request at todays meeting:
Race 6: P Hamblin +0.5kg = 56.5kg
Following their wins at Birdsville on the 4th of September, the following runners were re-handicapped:
Race 4. 5. FOREVER A DIAMOND +2kg = 61.5kg
Race 6. 5. HELLO WORLD +2kg = 59kg
Race 1: BROOK PASTORAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 800 Metres
WON FOR VICKI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LUNESSA – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
CRIPPS TONITE – Began awkwardly.
MILK MAID – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
Race 2: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey J. Keating, rider of second placegetter IOANE, to view the photo finish.
INVINCIBLE RED – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
DEFERENTIAL – Raced wide throughout. Over raced during the middle stages.
LUCKY FORTUNA – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
IOANE (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
RHESUS – Began awkwardly.
Race 3: BIRDSVILLE RACES ROADIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
MARAVILLAS – Apprentice J. Busuttin could offer no explanation for the below market performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AUSSIE ADAPTOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K. Nestor reported that after being slow to begin, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion, AUSSIE ADAPTOR resented the kickback. Jockey Nestor also added that in his opinion, the gelding failed to finish the race off as expected and proved disappointing.
HARLEQUIN FIELD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ABLE SEAMAN – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Doyle was reminded of her obligation in riding her mounts out fully to the finish.
BONDI PROPHET – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
BOULEVARD BOY – Began awkwardly.
PRIVATE TENDER – Began awkwardly.
FROTHSAY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: LYNDHURST STUD QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
OZZIE INVADER – Slow to begin. When asked to comment, jockey K. Nestor reported that after being slow to begin, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion, was not suited to today’s racing surface.
SOLAR SURFER – Commenced to over race approaching the 800m, and whilst being restrained shifted out marginally placing IMMINENT BOOM in restricted room for a short distance before being corrected by its rider. Jockey P. Hamblin reported that SOLAR SURFER was inclined to lay out throughout the event.
MAGIC ANDERSON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
IMMINENT BOOM – Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 800m when SOLAR SURFER shifted out marginally.
BESTOV – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice J. Busuttin reported that her mount resented the kickback from today’s racing surface before shifting wider passing the 400m to obtain clear running.
ANDERS KISS - Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
Race 5: G & C PASTORAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
DUSAN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying moderate heat stress and was treated by the oncourse veterinarian. Trainer J. Taylor was advised that DUSAN will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialling again.
MIAMI VICE – Slow to begin.
NOBLE INTENT – Raced in restricted room in the home straight to the inside of YUKAN ROSE.
MR EVANS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 6: TAB BIRDSVILLE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 Metres
GREEN SHADOWS - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
LIBERTY STEPS – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
SHISUTA BO – Began awkwardly, was bumped and lost ground. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
HELLO WORLD – Slow to begin.
OUR MISSILE - Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J. Busuttin reported that in her opinion, her mount was not suited by today’s racing surface.
LITTLE COINTREAU (NZ) – Shifted in passing the winning post to avoid the heels of SHISUTA BO which shifted out.
RAETIHI (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
ACEDROD – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
EQUAL BALANCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
BAROCCO BAR – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 7: VISITBIRDSVILLE.COM RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
FORGETABOUTIT – Blundered on jumping.
PENROD – Raced wide throughout.
QUARTER RED – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out rounding the first turn when racing keenly.
SALTCLAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
DANCER FOR MONEY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
KARAKAROO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in and out under pressure at various stages in the home straight.
