GENERAL
Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer Tasha Chambers to scratch REDNA from race 2 due to the heavy dirt condition of the track and REDNA only being a two-year old. Miss Chambers was advised that REDNA is now stood down from racing on dirt surfaces.
 
 
Race 1: ALL SPONSORS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap 1000 M
 
 
GETTING’ LIPPY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.  A post-race veterinary examination and revealed no apparent abnormalities. Began awkwardly.
 
COCO ROYALE – Made the first turn awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey C Taylor advised that his saddle slipped back in the run which placed him at a disadvantage over the final 600m.
 
HISAKO LADY – Slow to begin. Jockey T Chambers advised that after a slow start the filly resented the kick back and failed to stretch out in the early stages.
 
SILENT ANGEL – Began awkwardly.
 
SUPER SLICK – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LOVE MY LOUIS – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: CL & WM HICKEY AND VOLUNTEERS QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 M
 
 
I’M NUMBER ONE – Began awkwardly and stumbled soon after the start.
 
HUSTLER’S AMBITION – Slow into stride.
 
WARHOL – Threw its head in the air at the start and lost ground. Improved wide in the middle stages.
 
SEND THE MONEY – Declared a late scratching behind the barriers on veterinary advice when found to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer B Trimble was advised that the mare has been stood down from racing until presentation of a veterinary clearance. Prior to correct weight stewards ordered that all win bets be paid less 37 cents and all place bets paid less 23 cents on the face value of the ticket.
 
TIME TO GET READY – Slow into stride.
 
QUEEN OF THORNS – Become very fractious in the barriers before becoming cast. Declared at late scratching by order of stewards at 1.43pm. Trainer G Green was advised that the filly has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory official barrier trial. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Prior to correct weight stewards ordered that all win bets be paid less 27 cents and all place bets paid less 19 cents on the face value of the ticket. Jockey W Satherley was examined by the on course QAS and stood down from his remaining engagements. W Satherley was advised that he is required to provide a medical clearance before resuming riding.
 
REDNA – Declared a late scratching by stewards at 1.05pm due to track conditions.
 
 
Race 3: PAST MEMBERS MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1300 M
 
 
SIDESHOW FRANKIE – Slow to begin and bumped by ZOULY soon after the start.
 
SPIRITED SMILE – Declared a late scratching at 9.05am due to no rider being available.
 
MEDIA GEM – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
SHY REBEL – Declared a late scratching at 1.50pm when there was no available rider to replace W Satherley after he was stood down by QAS.
 
MISS TEAK – Jockey A Spinks advised that his mount was reluctant to stretch out fully in the early stages and resent the kick back before making good ground over the final 400m.
 
ZOULY – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped with SIDESHOW FRANKIE.
 
MASALI RAFFA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISS RINEHART – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 4: JELLINBAH / RON BEAK MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1300 M
 
 
LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Trainer R Williams advised that LILY ALLEZ (NZ) form in recent starts had been below expectations and he may look to spell the mare.
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Improved wide from the 700m.
 
JOHNNY DASH – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
PAPASITO – Apprentice N Olzard advised that her mount failed to handle the softer racing surface today and proved disappointing.
 
INVICTUS LAD – Jockey D Spinks was the approved late rider replacement for injured W Satherley.
 
TAKE THE LEAD – Race wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 5: COOK COLLIERY BLUFF CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 M
 
SHABOOH SHALAA – Jockey R Silvera Olivera was the approved rider replacement for injured W Satherley. Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HIT ’EM UP – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SADDLES – Slow to begin.
 
DELIUS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
LENNY ROCKET – Jockey C McIver when questioned regarding the tactics adopted advised that LENNY ROCKET is very one paced and he elected to lead and attempt to set a genuine tempo throughout. Mr McIver further added that once headed approaching the home turn and placed under hard riding his mount continued to battle fairly and finished the race of in a more competitive manner than most of its recent starts.
