KHADIJA – Slow to begin.
HAYLEE MAREE – Began awkwardly resulting in App S Wiseman making contact with the dividing partition with her right shoulder.
GREAT PRETENDER – Stewards questioned App J Philpot regarding her ride in the early and middle stages where it appeared she had an opportunity to restrain her mount and obtain cover rather than race 3 wide outside the lead. App J Philpot explained that after beginning well her mount was able to take up a forward position where it travelled comfortably. She added that she was of the opinion that had she attempted to restrain and find a position closer to the rail she would have caused interference to other runners. App J Philpot in the presence of trainer Mr J Manzelmann conceded that she had erred by not restraining GREY PRENTENDER which would have enabled the gelding to obtain cover rather than cover excessive ground. Stewards were also mindful of App J Philpot’s relative inexperience.
Race 5: Bowen Tyre & Mechanical Ben Bolt Cup Open Handicap 1470 metres:
1st – RICHIE ROCKET 2nd – BLOWIN’ YOUR MIND 3rd – OKAY SWIFT 4th – RELEASED
