Race 1: Charters Flowers Maiden Plate 800 metres:
1st – PEEL’ EM FIRST 2nd – YOU STILL OWE ME 3rd – ON THE BID 4th – MOLONGLE DAWN

WIDGEE LAD – Was slow to begin then hampered shortly after.

YOU STILL OWE ME – Shifted out abruptly at the start.

MOLONGLE DAWN – Raced wide throughout.

SHE’S A GOER – When questioned regarding the poor performance Jockey G Watson explained that the filly resented the kick back and failed to stretch out at any stage. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr B Williams said that the filly would now be spelled. Acting on this assurance no action was taken.

Race 2: Repco Benchmark 60 Handicap 800 metres:
1st – DH EXCEEDED/EXPEL 3rd – ROSE IN BLOOM 4th – PERFECT RAINBOW

EXCELLENT STYLE – Was slow to begin.

PERFECT RAINBOW – Was inclined to lay in in the straight.

BAGGER BLUES – Passing the 100m was momentarily hampered.

POWER REPORT – On return to scale Jockey S Galvin reported that his mount never travelled at any stage of the race and was disappointing. Trainer Mr G Wiles explained that in light of the poor performance the gelding would now be spelled.

Race 3: Fushia Belle Boutique Open Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – DEL PALIO 2nd – SURPASSER 3rd – LIKEFATHERLIKESON 4th – SCOT FREE

When questioned regarding the acceptance and withdrawal of top weight HEARTFELT QUEST trainer Mr B Williams explained that it had been his intention to run the gelding however HEARTFELT QUEST had sustained a minor injury to its near fore coronet earlier in the week which had been reported to the Townsville Stewards on acceptance day. He said that as he was not entirely happy with gelding’s recovery he elected to scratch. His explanation was accepted.

The explanation tendered by trainer Ms T Parry for the late declaration of Apprentice K Aho as the rider of SURPASSER was accepted.

DEL PALIO – Began awkwardly.

SCOT FREE – Jockey T Bannon reported that in her opinion the gelding failed to handle the track.

Race 4: Griffiths Chemmart Pharmacy Class B Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DON’T TELL PETE 2nd – AERIAL PNG PONG 3rd – TAPPESTRY 4th – EPIC CAMEL

TAPPESTRY – Was slow to begin.

SHUFFLES – Was slow to begin.

Race 5: Mother’s Day Class 3 Plate 1400 metres:
1st – WATCH THE RED 2nd – ROCKET BILLY REBEL 3rd – LOFTY’S MATE 4th – STRONG TIL DAWN
