Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice Q Krogh the rider of the 2nd placed VIOLET MIST against PURE REVENGE (N Evans) being declared the winner alleging interference over the concluding stages of the event. During the course of the protest hearing Jockey Evans the rider of PURE REVENGE advised Stewards that should they be of a mind to uphold the protest against PURE REVENGE, he wished to lodge a counter protest against VOILET MIST alleging interference rounding the home turn. Stewards after hearing submissions from all relevant parties and viewing the patrol films of both incidents found that approaching the finishing line PURE REVENGE did shift in making contact with VOILET MIST causing it to become unbalanced. In relation to the incident rounding the home turn Stewards found that when attempting to obtain clear running VOILET MIST has shifted out making contact with PURE REVENGE forcing that running to become unbalanced and to shift wider on the track. As Stewards were satisfied that in the two relevant incidents that the interference suffered to PURE REVENEGE greatly exceeded any interference suffered to VIOLET MIST the protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
