Race 1: Stud Frame Sheds Maiden Plate 1000 metres:
1st – RUSSIAN BLACK 2nd – DOWN’S RIDGE 3rd – OLLIE OOB 4th – RAPID DESIRE

T Chambers rode DOWN’S RIDGE.

RED ‘N’ YARRA – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 2: Tim Wilson Carpentry Class B Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – REFORMER 2nd – NICABELLE 3rd – SKAZIA 4th – JOYFUL

K Ballard rode SKAZIA.

T Chambers rode BOWLED OVER.

When no other rider was available stewards permitted A Spradau to ride NICABELLE 1.5kg over its declared weight.

YOUR WAY OR MINE - Was a late scratching at 2.13pm when it was unable to be loaded into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on YOUR WAY OR MINE were to be refunded and that all successful wagers placed prior to 2.13 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of tickets 6c win and 7c place. Trainer Mr D Smith was advised that prior to YOUR WAY OR MINE again starting in a race it must successfully complete a barrier trial.

MENELAION – Shifted out abruptly at the start and made contact with the barrier partition and then further shifted out and made contact with another runner. Apprentice T Tincknell sustained a minor injury to her left foot

BOWLED OVER – Crowded at the start.

VILLAINOUS LASS – Began awkwardly.

Race 3: Leichardt Hotel Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – MOSSALE 2nd – GHOST TRAIN 3rd – OBSERVER 4th – ESKERVINTH

FLYING INDY – Stewards acceded to an application made by apprentice T Tincknell under AR143A to have FLYING INDY declared a non runner on the grounds it was denied a fair start. On the evidence it was established that the gates on the barrier occupied by FLYING INDY were slow to open and as a result lost ground. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on FLYING INDY were to be refunded and that all successful wagers be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of tickets 9c win and 10c place.

Following this incident barrier staff performed remedial work to rectify the problem.

OBSERVER – Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.

Race 4: Cloncurry Tyres & Batteries Benchmark 60 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – EXTRA 2nd – LEICA DUEL 3rd – MASATAKA 4th – PEG LEG

COURT ACTION and MR SAUVAGE were both late scratchings as no suitable riders were available.

When no other rider was available stewards permitted T Chambers to ride EXTRA 1.5kg over its declared weight.

PALEO – Was difficult to load. Trainer Ms T Parry was told that a warning would be placed on the gelding. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

MASATAKA – Was fractious in the barriers.

LEICA DUEL – Was slow into stride and raced wide rounding the home turn.

SEVEN DEGREES – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 5: Niverak Smash Repairs Open Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – BIANCO ROSSA 2nd – SURPASSER 3rd – STRUMMING 4th – ROCKET ON BY

When no other rider was available stewards permitted A Spradau to ride THE GALLOWS 1.5kg over its declared weight.

STRUMMING – Slow into stride.

THE GALLOWS – Shifted out abruptly at the start.

EASTLINE – Hampered at the start. Passing the 800m had to be checked and lost ground when racing tight between runners.
