RACE 1: Pop Massingham Memorial QTIS 2YO Handicap - 950 metres
1st - MY GIRL'S A DRAGON 2nd - OURBOYBYRON 3rd - TYPHOON PARADISE 4th - NEED FINANCE
TYPHOON PARADISE - Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start.
OURBOYBYRON - Made contact with another runner shortly after the start. On returning to scale Jockey W. D'Avila reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the race and rounding the home turn shifted out and made contact with another runner.
MY GIRL'S A DRAGON - Contacted by another runner shortly after the start. Rounding the home turn was bumped by another runner and carried wider.
RACE 2: Edmonton Plumbing Class 2 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - MINNIE STREET 2nd - HOUSE OF HINGIS 3rd - MODEL TO EXCEED 4th - RICH 'N' FAMOUS
BLAZING ALLY - Dislodged its rider, Jockey S. Kaya, en route to the barriers and galloped riderless for a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the late scratching of the mare at 1.07 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on BLAZING ALLY be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
3¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, MINNIE STREET
9¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, MINNIE STREET
5¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, HOUSE OF HINGIS
Jockey Kaya was examined by the Ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his further engagements.
RACE 3: Merry Christmas Maiden Handicap - 950 metres
1st - TIERES TOUCH 2nd - BAR BABY 3rd - RUN WINDRED 4th - HUMANAPTRA
When Jockey C. Lennon was indisposed due to a shoulder injury, stewards permitted Jockey S. Wilson to be substitued as the rider of HUMPTY BUMPTY. Jockey Lennon was advised that he must provide a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.
CHANGEINTHEFORTUNE - Became fractious in the barriers and broke through the front gate. Acting on veterinary advice stewards ordered ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1.45 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on CHANGEINTHEFORTUNE be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

11¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, TIERES TOUCH
9¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, BAR BABY
5¢ in the dollar for the placer for 3rd, RUN WINDRED
Trainer Mr T. Rowe informed stewards that the gelding will now leave his stable; nevertheless he was advised that he must furnish a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again.
RUN WINDRED - Slipped behind on jumping and then was crowded for room shortly after.
HAMUNAPTRA - Leaving the 100 metres improved onto the heels of a weakening runner and had to be shifted out to improve.
Approaching the crossing near the 700 metres TIERES TOUCH (App. M. Murphy) shifted in very abruptly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced, shifting in and crowding the running of TOXICITY (Jockey K. Stone), which had to be checked. BAR BABY (App. C. Jokic), which was following, was hampered as a consequence.
Rounding the turn near the 500 metres TOXICITY (K. Stone), which was racing greenly, shifted out, became awkward on the heels of another runner and had to be steadied. HAMUNAPTRA (Jockey D. Simmons), which was following, was also hampered as a consequence. Jockey K. Stone was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than is permitted under the rule.
RACE 4: Fowlers Group BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - GUNDY STAR 2nd - KAMARAH 3rd - GO GIRLFRIEND 4th - INSIDE PAGE
KAMARAH - Apprentice C. Jokic was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for striking the gelding with the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than is permitted under the rule.
GO GIRLFRIEND - Jockey S. Wilson was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for striking the mare 8 times prior to the 100 metres, 3 times more than is permitted under the rule.
RACE 5: - Century Cranes BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - STANDFORD 2nd - MAL'S PRIDE 3rd - SERGEANT SHRIVER 4th - VENCEREMOS
SIGNIFICANT CHOICE - Began awkwardly then raced wide without cover throughout.
STANDFORD - Slow into stride.
SERGEANT SHRIVER - Buffeted between runners rounding the home turn.
MAL'S PRIDE - Jockey G. Kliese was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the gelding 6 times prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than is permitted under the rule.
VENCEREMOS - Lost its near hind plate in running. Jockey B. Swaffer was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the gelding 6 times prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than is permitted under the rule.
RACE 6: Jack Wilson Memorial Class 1 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - RYLEE'S SAGA 2nd - JUMBO RUMBO 3rd - NIC'S DRAGON 4th - DEVASTATING RHYTHM
SERIKOS FLYER - Slow to begin.
SOTTERO - Buffeted between runners at the start. Bumped by another runner in the early part of the home straight.
PENTHOUSE POPPY - Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
HELOW TUCKER - Raced with its head up during the middle stages.
DEVASTATING RHYTHM - Shortly after straightening for home shifted out and made contact with another runner.
LEGENDARY PLUME - Rounding the home turn improved up onto the heels of HELOW TUCKER. Shortly after straightening for home shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
RYLEE'S SAGA - App. M. Murphy was fined $100 under A.R. 137(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
BUSH VERSION - Jockey B. Swaffer was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the gelding on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 2 more than is permitted by the rule.
PHANTOM SOX - When questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding, Jockey S. Kaya said that his mount travelled comfortably in the lead, however when placed under pressure shortly after straightening weakened and thereafter was disappointing. Jockey Kaya said that in his opinion the gelding performs better over shorter distances than today's event.
Race 7: Edmonton Pharmacy Class 4 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - FOUR JAYS 2nd - DEE DOUBLEYOU 3rd - CASHED IN BULLY 4th - SHERIDAN
STRICTLY MAGIC - Slow to begin then raced wide without cover throughout.
FOUR JAYS - Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.
DRAGON HART - Crowded for room shortly after the start. Raced ungenerously in the early stages, then made the first turn, near the900 metres, awkwardly.
I'M MARIAH - Jockey K. Stone was fined $100 under A.R. 137A for using the whip on the mare on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 3 more than permitted under the rule.
AIR OF HEAVEN - When questioned regarding the poor performance of the mare, Mockey M. Kai said that his mount travelled well in a prominent position, however shortly after straightening weakened noticeably and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.Trainer Ms J. Ball undertook to report back to the stewards in the days following the event.
