As non-claiming apprentice Ms. O. Kendal was late arriving on course due to transportation difficulties, she was replaced in Race 1 (WATEGO’S BAY) – N. Thomas and Race 2 (POWER CRUISE) – App M. Goring.
RACE 1: LADBROKES PLACE EXTRA TO 10TH MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) – 950 Metres
The start of this race was delayed due to the ambulance arriving late on course.
SMART 'N' LOUD – Shifted out at the start forcing runners to its outside wider.
RADIANT POWER – Forced wider on jumping. Lost a tooth cap during running resulting in a small amount of blood in its mouth on returning to the enclosure.
WATEGO'S BAY – Forced wider at the start and crowded TOO MUCH CHILLI.
TOO MUCH CHILLI - Began awkwardly and was then crowded for room and lost ground.
IT'S SHOWTIME – Laid out rounding the home turn.
JUST A DUCHESS – Jockey B. Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres with a totality of 18 times. Jockey Kennedy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 25th July 2026 and expire midnight 1st August 2026. Jockey Kennedy was advised of his appeal rights.
RACE 2: CORAL COAST CATERING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD AND THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 1250 Metres
The start of this race was delayed due to the delay from race 1.
ROSSA VISTA – Delayed the start further when proved difficult to load. Raced greenly in the early stages.
SALTY SISTER – Began awkwardly and shifted in crowding SPIETH IMPEDIMENT and lost ground. Restrained from heels near the 700 metres and shifted wider.
POWER CRUISE – Shifted out at the start crowding SPIETH IMPEDIMENT. Restrained from heels approaching the 900 metres and shifted wider leaving the 700 metres.
SPIETH IMPEDIMENT – Crowded for room at the start. Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres and was steadied.
BUSH ETIQUETTE – Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing SPIETH IMPEDIMENT.
ZIG ZAG TORQUE – Raced greenly for the majority of the race and made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly having to be restrained a number of times. Improved onto heels near the 400 metres and was steadied.
MONDAY CLOSE – As jockey T. Chambers was not riding at today’s program she was replaced be jockey S. Cormack. Laid in approaching the 900 metres crowding BABUSHKA DOLL.
BABUSHKA DOLL – Crowded for room near 900 metres.
RACE 3: R & D MCGEE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
ACCEPT POWER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
GOLDEN GLAZE – Raced wide in the early stages before improving forward approaching the 800 metres.
FANCY GARTER – Restrained off heels near the 400 metres and had difficulties obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
PRINCESS SHANGHAI – Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. Raced wide throughout.
HOT PURSUIT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 4: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
ELLIE'S DREAM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages.
LAZENBY – Slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the early stages.
VOUCHERS - Slow into stride.
MISS BOHO FASHION – Slow into stride.
SAVEE – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Jockey dropped his off-side rein leaving the 100 metres.
LA MANO – Shifted in at the start brushing with DIAMOND LUCY.
DIAMOND LUCY – Brushed on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CINCINCITY – Raced ungenerously over the 700 metre crossing and when being restrained shifted in and away from LA MANO crowding FLOURISH. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of CINCINCITY apprentice L. Guernier was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Lost its off-hind plate during running.
FLOURISH – Stewards inquired into the reason FLOURISH lost ground near the 700 metres. Apprentice S. Pointon explained that the mare was not entirely comfortable racing to the inside of CINCINCITY which shifted in crowding FLOURISH after racing ungenerously soon after the crossing.
RACE 5: RIVERS INSURANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
KIRIKAN (NZ) – Slow into stride.
BLUEBIRD BAY – Slow into stride.
INDEFINITE (NZ) – Put in an awkward stride near the 1000 metre turn.
ROCK THE SUNRISE – Over-raced for a short distance leaving the 900 metres. Jockey B. Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive with a totality of 18 times. In considering penalty stewards considered jockey Kennedy’s honesty in regard to this breach and also the cup carnival meetings approaching in North Queensland and ordered in all the circumstances that the suspension be served concurrent with his previous breach of this rule in Race 1. Jockey Kennedy was advised of his appeal rights.
PEACHTREE FLYER – Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. Co - Trainers T & P. Rowe were advised that PEACHTREE FLYER shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: i. a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or ii. an official trial or jump-out, in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. AR 79(4).
RACE 6: THE ARCHERS ADVANTAGE OPEN HANDICAP – 1900 Metres
READY TIGER – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages.
CHOIR BOY – Over-raced for a short distance approaching the 1200 metres.
ELLA TE AMA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
PEROVIC – Compounded over the concluding stages.
RACE 7: MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 2100 Metres
KHAMIS – Slow to begin. Made contact with the running rail near the 1000 metres and shifted out.
ACCLIMATISE – Began very awkwardly. Inconvenienced near the 1100 metres and was steadied. Checked and shifted wider near the 1000 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Subsequently stewards reminded jockey B. Kennedy to bring any concerns he may have in racing matters to the attention of stewards.
PREFER TO DANCE (NZ) - Raced keenly in the early stages.
HEIR JORDAN – Bumped on jumping. Made contact with the running rail near the 1000 metres and was unbalanced.
AMALFI AMORE – Shifted out at the start bumping with HEIR JORDAN. Shifted out leaving the 1100 metres when racing ungenerously inconveniencing ACCLIMATISE. Shifted in near the 1000 metres tightening the running of STADIUM OF LIGHT which had improved to its inside and had to be checked and shifted in tightening the running of EYELEFTIT which was restrained, when being corrected AMALFI AMORE shifted back out hampering ACCLIMATISE which was checked and shifted wider. Apprentice L. Guernier, in company of senior rider S. Cormack pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) in that near the 1000 metres she permitted AMALFI AMORE to shift in when not clear to do so resulting in STADIUM OF LIGHT being checked and then shifting out hampering ACCLIMATISE which was also checked. Stewards deemed this incident in the mid-range and in considering penalty considered Ms. Guernier’s good recent record regarding this rule, her forthright evidence and guilty plea. Ms. Guernier’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 1st August 2026 and expire midnight 11th August 2026. Ms Guernier was advised of her appeal rights.
STADIUM OF LIGHT (NZ) – Improved into a run to the inside of AMALFI AMORE which shifted out near the 1000 metres and was checked soon after when tightened for room.
EYELEFTIT – Tightened for room near the 1000 metres and was restrained. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed soreness to its near hind fetlock. Trainer B. Bailey was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to EYELEFTIT racing or trialing again.
RACE 8: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1450 Metres
BUFFET BUSTER – Shifted in at the start bumping with WHIRLWIND. Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly.
WHIRLWIND – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Compounded over the concluding stages. Crowded for room near the 200 metres when tiring and was momentarily steadied.
PREMIUM STAR – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to explain the improved performance today trainer A. Malliff explained he believes PREMIUM STAR prefers racing at this track and was now stepping up to a more suitable distance along with the soft track conditions which were beneficial to its performance today. His explanation was noted.
NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Made contact with the running rail near the 1000 metres.
TSUNAMI – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
MISS SHU (NZ) – Shifted in under pressure near the 200 metres momentarily crowding WHIRLWIND.
SKOGAFOSS – Disappointed for a run near the 200 metres when unable to take advantage of that run and went to the line without being fully tested.
BETTA AL – Held up for clear running from the 200 metres until leaving the 100 metres.
RACE 9: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 950 Metres
The start of this race was delayed due to the horses arriving late at the barriers.
THIRTEEN UNDER – Delayed the start further after being fractious in the barriers and undergoing a veterinary examination and being cleared to start. Slow to begin.
IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Delayed the start further after being fractious in the barriers and undergoing a veterinary examination and being cleared to start. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 500 metres causing jockey W. D’ Avila to become unbalanced and as a result shifted out bumping THE KAMIKAZE.
BLUE STEEL – Slow to begin. Shifted in abruptly soon after the start being awkwardly placed near the running rail and was corrected.
GAMADALE NIP– Slow to begin.
THE KAMIKAZE (NZ) – Bumped near 500 metres and was unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 10: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE OPEN HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
VALENKI – Slow into stride.
KHABALOV – Slow into stride.
LEAN EAGLE – Slow into stride. Reacted to the rail movement which was contacted by MOEGREEN racing forward of it and put in awkward stride near the 1000 metres.
MOEGREEN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Made contact with running rail near the 1000 metres. Over-raced in the middle stages.
SPIRIT MEISTER – Jockey M. Abe pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres with a totality of 21 times. Jockey Abe’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 1st August 2026 and expire midnight 7th August 2026. Jockey Abe was advised of his appeal rights.
