GENERAL
 
Appr Jky J Busuttin was a late riding inclusion to this meeting with late riding changes as per the Stewards Summary. Due to the limited availability of riders, the following weight variations to apply at this meeting- Race 4 and Race 5- Appr Jky J Busuttin- no claim. As a result of the incident in Race 4, Race 5 and Race 6 start times were amended to 4.57 and 5.20pm respectively. Prior to the running of Race 5 Stewards inspected the racing surface between the 500m and the 300m and as a result ordered that the Club perform remedial work on that area of the track. Stewards along with senior riders inspected the racing surface after the work was performed and were of the opinion it was deemed safe to continue the meeting.
 
Race 1: GIBSON GRAZING MAIDEN PLATE 1400M
 
BOULEVARD BOY- Began awkwardly and jumped out at the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MARANOA METEOR- Began awkwardly and bumped with BELLE FRANCAIS at the start. raced wide for the majority.
 
GLUTTONY- Approaching the 1000m laid in marginally and bumped with JAKEBRAKE. Tended to lay in when under pressure in the home straight.
 
JAKEBRAKE- Raced wide from the 800m for the remainder. Bumped with ELLE’S MY NAME at the 200m point.
 
TIGER PAW- Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding, a post-race veterinary examination was undertaken no abnormalities were detected. Under AR75 Trainer Mr G Barbierato was advised that the horse would require to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next start.
 
BELLE FRANCAIS- Began awkwardly then bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ELLE’S MY NAME- Bumped at the 200m by another runner.
 
Race 2 PHOENIX ENERGY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200M
 
HORRIBLE HANK- Laid out from the 500m. Appr Jky I Jessop was reminded of her obligation to ensure she ride’s her mounts out to the finishing line under AR 131(b).
 
ACEROD- Began awkwardly and then bumped at the start losing ground.
 
MR WANDJI- Began awkwardly when jumping out and bumped with ACEROD which in turn bumped with TOUCH OF GRACIE.
 
GALEKA- Slow to begin, laid in in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
TOUCH OF GRACIE- At the 1150m was dictated out with the rider Appr Jky R O’Connell having to ease his mount. Bumped with MR WANDJI in the home straight.
 
ZARIPPA- Threw its head about as the start was affected.
 
YES I’M UGLY- Slow to begin. At approximately the 1150m when crossing to obtain a more forward position Appr Jky S Callow permitted her mount to dictate TOUCH OF GRACIE out resulting in the rider of TOUCH OF GRACIE having to ease his mount. Appr Jky S Callow was issued a severe reprimand under AR131(a) for Careless Riding.
 
Race 3: WARREGO WATER MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
COLINTON- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in while racing in the home straight.
 
WEATHER- Began awkwardly.  Put in a few awkward strides between the 500 and the 300m, was held up for a run at the top of the straight. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered. This examination revealed no lameness but detected harsh lung sounds in the right lung with minor coughing sounds that may have contributed to the performance of the horse. Trainer Mr W Nugent gave stewards an undertaking that he would contact them should the horse develop any significant issues in coming days.
 
TALLEYRAND- Began awkwardly and made contact with the barriers gates. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MARKHAM MISS- Began awkwardly raced up on heels of LA SWISH at the 900m point.
 
OUTDOOR CAT- Reared just prior to the start being affected, then began awkwardly making contact with the barrier gates. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LA SWISH- Began awkwardly and jumped in the air soon after the start.
 
Race 4: CUBICO BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
BELACON- Raced wide for the majority.
 
HEY PUMPKIN- Stood flat footed at the start and missed the start by approximately two (2) lengths. Held up for a run at the 200m point ran on well. Stewards acting under AR75 advised Trainer Mr P Webster that a Warning would be placed on the horse.
 
ONE MORE THING- Reared before the start and put forelimbs over the barrier gate. A pre-race veterinary examination was performed with no abnormalities being detected and subsequently passed fit to start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MY SICADA- Raced wide for the majority.
 
RICH AND JOYFUL- A delay to the start occurred to allow for the nose roll to be refitted. Laid out for a short distance in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
SPRING BIRD- Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
 
EASY COME- Slow to begin. Commenced to put in short strides at the top of the straight shortly after was pulled up by the rider who then dismounted. As a result of a catastrophic injury to the sesamoid of the right foreleg during the race, the horse was euthanised on human grounds. Samples were taken for analysis.
 
Race 5: CAMM AGRICULTURAL GROUP DALBY AMATEUR’S CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
 
GRINZINGER KNIGHT- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in while racing in the home straight.
 
KORUTO- Slow to begin.  Began to improve into the race from the 600m point. Forced to ease off heels of UNLEASHED at the top of the straight and then in the home straight was dictated outward by UNLEASH losing ground and momentum, when approaching the 100m was then forced to redirect his mount to the inside of UNLEASH finishing the race off well.
 
UNLEASH- Appr Jky O’Connell was harmlessly dislodged the rider enroute to the barriers. Failed to go the early speed and dropped back from the 1200m.  Began to improve into the race from the 900m while racing wide. Shifted in while racing extremely wide in the home straight dictating KORUTO out. As a result, Appr Jky R O’Connell was issued with a severe reprimand under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in when not fully clear of KORUTO.
 
KIPTANUI- Raced wide for some distance from the 800m.
 
TRAPEZE LEGEND- Laid in when under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISS NICOLINI- Broke through the barrier gates prior to the start. Only trotted a short distance before being pulled up by the rider. A veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected and was subsequently passed fit to race. Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room from the 1000m for a short distance. Then raced wide with cover from the 800m. When returning to scales Appr Jky J Busuttin weighed in overweight at 57.5kg. Stewards acting under the provision of AR211 Stewards issued a penalty in the way of a $300 fine for breach of the rule.
 
Race 6: GDL RURAL QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M
 
PROPHET OF BOOM- Began awkwardly and veered out towards the outside rail before harmlessly dislodged the rider taking no further part in the race. Under the provision of AR75 Trainer C and K Geran were advised the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
HARLEQUIN FIELD- Dipped shortly after the start, raced towards the rear of the field for the majority.
 
KNOWITALL FRANK- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LORD PROTECTOR- Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier gates. Raced towards the rear of the field during the early stages and began to improve into the race from the 900m.
 
TORTILLA- Raced wide from the 800m for the remainder.
 
TRUSTY BANDIT-Declared a late scratching at 8.55am due to no rider being available.
 
POWERFUL WARRIOR-Declared a late scratching at 8.30am due to no rider being available.
