GENERAL

Stewards adjudicated on a betting dispute between a punter and bookmaker Mr E. Phillips in relation to a winning bet on VIENNA ROYALE in Race 5. After hearing evidence from both parties and the betting steward, it was resolved that Mr Phillips pay the punter the face value of the ticket.

Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN SPARKING F&M 0MW H’CAP - 1050m

BO ROSSA – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

NOT A SINGLEMOMENT – T. Bell was fined $500 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

HARDLEY – Reared as the gates opened.

Race 2: RACING RETRO MAIDEN PLATE - 1350m

The start of this race was delayed to allow for an interstate event to be run.

BLAKE’S LAD – Tightened for room near the 900m.

REVELIO – Kicked behind the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to run. Raced wide without cover. Bumped and forced out on to another runner at the entrance to the straight. Shifted the off fore plate in running.

ALL ON OUR OWN – Shifted in near the 250m and hampered runners to its inside. Bumped and had to be checked away from heels at the entrance to the straight.

DIGGLER – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners. Overraced approaching the first turn and continued to overrace until near the 700m. T. Bell reported that he lost his offside iron in the incident shortly after the start and regained it near the 1000m.

FIRE PLACE – Apprentice T. Wolfgram accidentally dropped his whip near the 100m.

LAREBIL – Overraced in the early stages.

I DOUBT I CAN – Began awkwardly. Hampered near the 250m.

IPPY GIRL – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the mare settle just off the pace if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden in a more forward position. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

MISSUS MELMAN – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced in the early stages. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 900m and shifted in, tightening another runner.

VINNIE LOVES ME – Apprentice B. Grylls pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at the entrance to the straight she permitted her mount to shift out acutely, making contact with REVELIO, which was forced out on to ALL ON OUR OWN, which had to be checked away from heels. Apprentice Grylls’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term to commence at midnight on Wednesday 7 January and expire at midnight on Friday 23 January 2015.

ROSE OF TRAVESTON – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners. Shifted out off heels after leaving the 900m. Hampered near the 250m.

Race 3: QUEST BREAKFAST CREEK CLASS 6 PLATE - 1350m

QUEEN OF THE LOCHS – Brushed by another runner approaching the winning post.

NOVEMBER GREY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running inside the 200m.

RENEWED VITALITY – Shifted in approaching the winning post and brushed another runner.

COMACINA – Slow to begin.

Race 4: BRISBANE MARRIOTT HOTEL BM75 H’CAP - 2220m

SECRET GARDEN – Apprentice M. McGuren reported at scale that although he had been instructed to have the mare more forward today, it was not his intention to race outside the leader, however as Secret Garden was forced to race wide early, he elected to allow it to stride forward. Trainer P. Nolan was questioned as to the tactics adopted on Secret Garden. He stated that as the mare had been very sluggish out of the barriers at its last two starts he had instructed apprentice McGuren to have the horse forward, possibly midfield.

CRUZ BY – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

LEVER LEVER – Lost its near fore plate in running.

AMAZING ROSAIS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress and the thumps.

STAR FORMATION – Raced wide without cover from the 1000m. Apprentice S. Fawke was questioned regarding his riding of Star Formation in the middle stages. He stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding forward from back in the field after leaving the 1000m in an attempt to make a sustained run. Trainer P. Butterworth confirmed the instructions.

JUDGE RUBY – Apprentice J. Orman was dislodged in the preliminary and suffered a harmless fall. Had to be checked away from the heels of a weakening runner near the 700m and again had to be steadied from heels approaching the home turn.

Race 5: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1200m

SHE’S MISS DEVINE – Bumped on the home turn. M. Cahill reported at scale that his mount hung in under pressure in the straight.

MISTER BOOZE – Overraced in the early stages and got its head up. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.

THE LYNCHES – L. Cassidy reported at scale that his mount became unbalanced near the 1000m when racing fiercely.

DENARIUS – Shifted out to improve on the home turn and made contact with another runner. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was accidentally struck on the head by the whip of another rider.

RED BOWERS – Got its head in the air when racing ungenerously near the 700m. Held up over the concluding stages.

FUSINA – Had to steady away from heels after passing the 800m.

HEART OF THUNDER – C. Munce reported that his mount, after jumping away, got its head low and had a tendency to hang out, which resulted in him losing some ground.

MISHANI VIKING – Slow to begin.

OCEANTES – Held up for clear running from the early stages of the straight until the 100m.

Race 6: CHANNEL SEVEN 0-70 H’CAP - 1640m

NEURUM ROAD – Jumped away awkwardly.

WALHAAN – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.

CASINO BRIDE – Tightened for room shortly after the start between runners.

PRINCE OF SOFIA – Shifted in near the 1500m and brushed the running rail, and after leaving the 1400m had to be checked off the heels of another runner and in doing so got its head up and lost ground.

PURE GREED – Slow to begin.

SHOW OF STRENGTH – Had to be steadied away from heels making the first turn. Disappointed for a run near the 300m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had been galloped on on the off foreleg.

Race 7: XXXX GOLD C,G&E 0MW H’CAP - 1050m

FLORIDA FELLOW – Jumped awkwardly.

RIVER SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and then made contact with another runner shortly after the start.

IONA FAST ONE – Raced wide throughout.

CRYON – Raced wide throughout.

LONG LASTING – Held up rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in in the straight and then held up for clear running from the 200m.

THIS IS WAR – Slow to begin.

VIENNE – Became awkward when bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start.

Race 8: WWW.BRC.COM.AU 0-70 H’CAP - 1200m

BLOODED – Held up rounding the home turn.

TISANI TOMSO – Shifted in under pressure near the 100m.

PARTY SPIN – Had to check off heels after passing the 800m.

HEARTBREAK HARRY – Tightened for room near the 100m. Had to be checked to avoid heels near the 50m.

PURE SHORES – Slow to begin.

WEARING WINGS – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. Held up rounding the home turn. Held up for clear running inside the 100m and did not obtain clear running for the remainder of the race.

IT’S A THRILLA – Held up rounding the home turn. Held up over the concluding stages.

WIDOW’S WALK – Bled from both nostrils during the event. The Meagher stable was advised that the mare will be ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to starting again must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.

TEARS – Held up rounding the home turn. Had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ONE GREY, which shifted in approaching the winning post.

SAGACIOUS FLAME – Bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that the mare will be ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to starting again must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
