Race 1: MATER DEI P&F QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1350M
CAPITANEAR – Pulled hard in the early stages. Hung out under pressure over the final 150m.
FLYING SAND – Inclined to hang out after leaving the 600m.
MAN OF HIS WORD – J. Byrne reported that the colt was hampered on the home turn by FLYING SAND when that runner shifted wider on the track and following this MAN OF HIS WORD did not respond to his riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DREAM FINNISH – Slow to begin.
LADY NO MORE – Jumped away awkwardly and then blundered.
Race 2: QLD ACCOUNTING GROUP OPEN H’CAP – 1615M
BEWHATYOUWANNABE – Blundered shortly after the start. Lost its near fore plate in running.
ONGOING VENTURE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event and found to have sustained a superficial laceration to the nearside ear in transit to the track and was cleared to start. Jumped awkwardly.
FRETON – Slow to begin.
Race 3: PREMIER RACING PARTNERSHIPS QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2020M
HENRYVONHUFEISEN – Raced three wide throughout. Rider dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
TOUCH OF BELLA – Jumped away awkwardly. Brushed the running rail near the 1600m when tightened for room. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
MORE IMPACT – Raced three wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to the position outside the leader near the 1000m.
BENICO’S PRINCE – Eased passing the winning post on the first occasion when momentarily tightened for room. Hampered passing the 1600m when bumped by RABASCO. Raced three wide throughout.
HERRSCHAFT – Unable to improve when held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
RABASCO – Trainer B. Hill advised that it would be the intention for the horse to be ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Shifted in when being steadied near the 1600m and tightened another runner.
LARABEE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
CAUGHT A CRACKER – Commenced to overrace and shifted out near the 1300m.
DUOROSA – Tightened near the 1600m. Had to be steadied from heels near the 900m.
TORPEDO – Trainer B. Hill advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden a little quieter in a midfield position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Jumped away awkwardly.
As L. Cassidy was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements following this event due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 4: MARSH ADVANTAGE INSURANCE BM75 H’CAP – 2020M
ROCK MUSICIAN – Raced three wide throughout.
COSMONAUT – Trainer B. Smith advised that if circumstances permit the horse would be ridden in a forward position. The horse was ridden accordingly.
VALERIE D’AMOUR – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to the lead approaching the 1000m.
ONE LAST WHIFF – Momentarily tightened for room and made contact with the running rail near the 1200m.
The remainder of the meeting was abandoned at 3 pm due to inclement weather, including a severe thunderstorm and heavy rain, and due to the state of the track.
