Race 1: Racing Retro QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1350m
As R. McMahon’s arrival at the track was delayed, R. Thompson was substituted as the rider of Lady No More.
FLYING SAND – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages.
LADY ATHENA – Jumped away awkwardly, losing ground.
DREAM FINNISH - Jumped away awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider.
SWEET REPEAT – Overraced in the early stages.
LADY NO MORE – Raced wide without cover.
FAVOURED GRACE – Rider G. Colless reported at scale his mount may have come to the end of its preparation, adding that the filly did not handle the track conditions today.
EMMADEE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had been galloped on on the outside heel of the near hindleg.
Race 2: Carnival Ball 16th May F&M Class 6 Plate – 1200m
VALID CONTRACT – Shifted out and brushed another runner near the 300m. Rider D. Browne reported that his mount lost its off fore plate shortly after the start, and at no stage felt comfortable on the rain affected conditions.
WRITE CHEEK – Brushed and became unbalanced near the 300m.
Race 3: Carnival High Tea 29th May Class 6 H'cap – 2200m
SCOTTY BE GOTTI – Jumped away awkwardly. Had to be check away from heels near the 1600m and shifted out.
GOTTA ZIP – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
COUP D’ETAT – Lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 4: The Professor Geoff McKellar Memorial QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1200m
ROCKLEIGH – Slow to begin.
DESERT GENERAL – Jumped away awkwardly.
AMIZADE – Lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 5: Novatel Brisbane Airport CG&E Class 6 Plate – 1200m
On return to scale a protest was lodged by G. Colless, rider of the 3rd placegetter, LORDAG, against LUCKY BLACK being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 250m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, it was established that near the 250m LORDAG had to be checked across the heels of the eventual winner, LUCKY BLACK when tightened for room between LUCKY BLACK and BELEGIC. Whilst it was acknowledged that LUCKY BLACK had shifted slightly, stewards were of the opinion that the majority of the shift came from BELEGIC and therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

Race 6: Brisbane Marriott Hotel Open H'cap – 1200m
On return to scale a protest was lodged by J. Byrne, rider of the 2nd placegetter, ARCHITECT, against KEMPELLY being declared the winner, alleging interference from the 200m to the 50m. In dismissing the protest stewards were of the opinion that whilst KEMPELLY had shifted ground inside the 200m taking ARCHITECT wider, they were not satisfied that this incident warranted a reversal of placings, and the protest was dismissed and the Judge’s placings were confirmed. Near the 50m ARCHITECT and KEMPELLY brushed when both horses shifted ground.
JETSET LAD – Prior to the start the horse became restless in the barrier stalls. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
ELUSIVE STORM – Checked after passing the 600m.
MR FAVULOUS – Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted in shortly after leaving the 600m after being brushed, resulting in another runner having to be checked. Rider apprentice M. McGillivray was advised in similar circumstances he must endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress following the event.
Race 7: Stradbroke Eve Calcutta 5th June Benchmark 85 H'cap – 1350m
As B. Stewart was to be overweight on Dodge The Grey, T. Harrison was substituted as the rider of that gelding. B. Stewart was fined $200.
TINTS – Declared a late scratching at 1.30pm after being injured in its float en route to the track.
DODGE THE GREY – Slow to begin. Rider T. Harrison reported at scale her mount failed to handle the track conditions today.
CHALUKPA – Rider J. Taylor reported at scale his mount failed to handle the track conditions today.
Race 8: which was weakening.brc.com.au Class 6 H'cap – 1600m
GULLY COMMAND – Declared a late scratching at 1.30pm after being injured in its float en route to the track.
As R. McMahon was to be overweight, A. Allen was substituted as the rider of NEVER IGNORE. R. McMahon was fined $200.
WHAT A GAL – Slow to begin.
STAR FORMATION – Slow to begin. Had to be checked off the heels of another runner near after leaving the 800m when the pace steadied. Shifted out abruptly again near the 650m when checking off heels.
MISS HUSSON – Hampered shortly after the start by another runner, which shifted out. Had to be steadied from heels leaving the 700m.
COSMONAUT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Held up for some distance approaching the home turn.
WHO’S NEXT – Rider T. Harrison reported at scale it was not her intention to lead, however when racing wide in the early stages she elected to push forward.
CREDIT ONLY – Rider G. Goold reported at scale it was not his intention to race outside the leader, however after beginning well he allowed his mount to stride forward.
