DODGE THE GREY – Jockey R. Fradd was questioned regarding his riding of the gelding particularly after leaving the 1000m whereby he allowed the eventual winner TRAKSTAR, which was racing 3 wide, to cross him. Jockey Fradd stated that it was always his intention to have DODGE THE GREY in a forward position and he rode the gelding aggressively in the early stages and as a result was positioned just behind the leaders. He added that after leaving the 1000m when TRAKSTAR improved quickly to his outside and forward of him he made the decision to take hold of DODGE THE GREY, which afforded TRAKSTAR the opportunity to cross his mount. He further added that in his opinion it was advantageous to be following TRAKSTAR as this would give him a good trail into the race. Jockey Fradd stated that once he elected to improve his position passing the 600m his mount was immediately under pressure and found little under hard riding. Whilst his explanations were noted he was reminded that he should always ride his mounts in a competitive manner which would not leave him open to question. Trainer J. Meagher stated after viewing the video that in future the instructions will be to ride the gelding aggressively throughout the race.
App S. Payne the rider of COSMONAUT was fined $200.00 for changing gear after weighing out.

It was evident that approaching the 400m and leaving that point WE’RE READY shifted out and then shifted back in, which resulted in J. Lloyd becoming unbalanced and falling. J. Lloyd was advised that he must obtain a full medical clearance before racing again. In this incident WHATALOVELYDAY struck J. Lloyd and blundered.
