SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Eagle Farm 22/03/25 – Race 7
Stewards concluded an inquiry into Jockey A Mallyons’ riding of FIELDS OF MYRTLE at Eagle Farm on 22 March 2025. Stewards examined the wagering data on the race and reviewed FIELD OF MYRTLE’s most recent starts. Jockey A. Mallyon explained he had intentionally held the mare under pressure until the final stages based on her previous performances, a view supported in part by Trainer M. Dunn, who nonetheless agreed greater early pressure might have bridged the gap to HERMANITA on straightening. While stewards found that Jockey Mallyon erred in delaying his mount’s run in the straight, they were not satisfied to the requisite standard that his ride constituted a breach of the rules. Stewards reminded Jockey Mallyon of his obligation to ride in a manner that does not invite the stewards’ scrutiny in future.
