SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Good 4 at 1:14pm.

RACE 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

BLACK ASSASSIN - Obliged to alter course near the 200m in order to improve. Near the 150m, was bumped by TORO CHASE and became unbalanced. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of BLACK ASSASSIN, Trainer P. Campell reported that after resuming from a spell, the gelding had shown maturity and was pleasing in its most recent jump out, and as such, was confident of a forward showing.
 
FUNHOUSE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped TORO CHASE before shifting in and bumping RALOS STAR. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room for some distance when TORO CHASE commenced to shift in, resulting in FUNHOUSE becoming unbalanced. Apprentice C. Sutherland, the rider of TORO CHASE was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Raced wide. When asked comment on performance, Jockey C. Collis reported that after receiving early pressure and being buffeted between runners, the gelding failed to travel comfortably however, he was not overly disappointed with FUNHOUSE’s overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
LEGAL CAUSE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with RALOS STAR. Near the 1100m, eased from the heels of RALOS STAR which shifted in. Leaving the 150m, was obliged to shift out to improve. Shortly after passing the winning post, the saddle slipped resulting in Jockey C. Taylor losing both of his irons.
 
RALOS STAR – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room for some distance resulting in RALOS STAR becoming unbalanced.

THE AVIATOR – Shifted out approaching the winning post. Jockey D. Moor reported that his mount shied at the winning post and as a result was unable to ride with his normal vigor at the conclusion of the event.

TORO CHASE – Near the 150m, shifted in and bumped BLACK ASSASSIN.
 
RACE 2: SUNSET SOIREE BOOK NOW BM70 HANDICAP          1200 M

REVOLT – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels of KING OF MINTO, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J. McMurray the rider of KING OF MINTO was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MAJESTIC BOOM – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
KING OF MINTO - Blundered on jumping away. Leaving the 200m, commenced to lay in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Apprentice J. McMurray reported that after beginning awkwardly, the gelding failed to muster early speed and took longer than anticipated to take up a forward racing position however, travelled well once finding the lead, but proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOPHET – Near the 150m, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of KING OF MINTO, which laid in under pressure.
 
APOLLO TEN - Shortly after the start, steadied from the heels of CAPITAL DIVA which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey B. Lerena the rider of CAPITAL DIVA was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Laid out rounding the home turn. On entering the home straight, Apprentice C. Sutherland temporarily lost use of his nearside rein. Laid out approaching the 200m. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that his mount slipped at the start.
 
CAPITAL DIVA – Raced wide until the 700m.   
 
RACE 3: GIRLS DAY OUT 7 MARCH FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE      1200 M

EDGE OF INFINITY – Slow to begin and then hampered shortly after the start. Near the 300m, shifted out and bumped TREFOIL.
 
EUPHORIC MISS – Forced wider near the 600m.
 
KIAVELA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 150m.

MEDITERRA – Laid out under pressure leaving the 300m.   

TREFOIL – Commenced to over-race approaching the 600m, improved onto heels and shifted wider. Leaving the 300m, shifted in marginally and bumped EDGE OF INFINITY.
 
WESTERN LIGHTS – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, when racing in restricted room, commenced to race greenly for a short distance.
 
RACE 4: SKY RACING CLASS 5 HANDICAP   1630 M
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the official photo finish to determine if there was a margin between the 2nd and 3rd placegetters. After doing so and being comfortably satisfied that there was a margin, Stewards declared correct weight on the Judge’s numbers.

CENTRAL PARK – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 1200m, had to be eased from the heels of LAST COMMAND, which laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
VICTORY COMMAND (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide until approaching the 1100m.

RAMP IT UP – Bumped with PIREONTI shortly after the start.
 
JUNE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

PIREONTI – Bumped with RAMP IT UP shortly after the start.
 
RACE 5: XXXX GOLD QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE            1110 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to RUM AND KIRK requiring its bridle to be readjusted upon arrival at the barriers.

RUM AND KIRK – Began awkwardly and bumped with MERCATELLO. Near the 900m, commenced to race keenly. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey A. Mallyon reported that he wasn’t overly disappointed in the gelding’s performance and in his opinion, RUM AND KIRK would derive benefit from today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STRIKE WEAPON – Began awkwardly and shifted out.        
 
VEOMAS (NZ) – Commenced to over-race near the 900m and bumped with OUR COMBINATION. Raced wide with cover. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported that the gelding over-raced in the early stages which in his opinion this may have had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

BOOZIE MISS – Raced wide throughout.
 
DON'T DOUBT MISSY – Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run near the 250m and was then held up until approaching the 150m.
 
OUR COMBINATION – Hampered on jumping away. Approaching the 1000m, commenced to over-race when awkwardly placed at the heels of RUM AND KIRK. Bumped near the 900m by VEOMAS (NZ).

RECONCILIATE – Raced wide for the majority.

MERCATELLO – Began awkwardly and bumped with RUM AND KIRK.

 
RACE 6: MAGIC MILLIONS MARCH YEARLING SALE CLASS 1 PLATE       1110 M

HOMERIC – Slow to begin.         
 
SUM INVICTUS – Near the 900m had to be eased after improving onto the heels of JUNGLE WARRIOR. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
IMPACT ZONE – Near the 500m, raced in restricted room to the inside of DISMANTLE, which laid in.

DISMANTLE – Bumped with OCEAN JOY on jumping away. Raced wide until the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
IMMEDIATE – Had difficulty securing clear running leaving the 150m.
 
OCEAN JOY – Bumped with DISMANTLE on jumping away.

 
RACE 7: LADBROKES MATES MODE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD BM65 HANDICAP      1200 M
 
THE BEAR - Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, shifted in and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
 
CARBONARA - Hampered on jumping away. Leaving the 150m, shifted out abruptly after being struck with the whip resulting in the filly becoming awkward in its action for a number of strides. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
POINT VEGA – Bumped with EKHIDNA on jumping away.

CRYPTIC BEAUTY – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with ODE TO BEAUTY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its near foreleg. Cast its near fore plate.

CYBER CITY – Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected and was subsequently backed out. Underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.

EKHIDNA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped POINT VEGA. Hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the home turn shifted out in order to improve and bumped ODE TO BEAUTY.

SUSSUSUDIO – Raced wide.

ODE TO BEAUTY – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide. Bumped by EKHIDNA rounding the home turn.
 
SECRET CYPHER – Hampered on jumping away. Near the 900m, improved onto the heels of CRYPTIC BEAUTY and had to be steadied.
