GENERAL
As riders T. Schiller, B. Shinn and N. Callow were indisposed due to injury, rider replacements were made as per the Raceday Meeting Summary.
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 1. M. Rodd +1kg
Race 3. M. Harley +0.5kg
Race 1: THE STAR CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
SIBAAQ (GB) – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported that the gelding raced keenly during the middle stages and failed to settle, and passing the 600m commenced to give ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
VICTORY WIN – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
EAGLEMONT (IRE) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 300m.
FELIX THE SCAT – Hampered on jumping. Rider M. Du Plessis reported that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
SPACE AGE (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Apprentice C. Collis reported that in his opinion, the gelding was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
ANEMACORE (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer S. Dwyer was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (8).
Race 2: KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
REDFORD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover.
DEEP RESPECT – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Was able to improve into clear running passing the 250m, passing the 100m raced in restricted room for a short distance.
LADY SHOTGUN – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
HARBOURMASTER – Raced wide throughout. Rider C. Williams reported that his instructions were to be forward however when caught wide, he was obliged to settle in that position.
REDZOUST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
TERRESTAR – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
CHERRY ROSE – Raced wide throughout. Rider S. Cormack reported that the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
DIVINE PURPOSE – Slow to begin.
WINSOME STAR – Slow to begin. Rider R. Dolan reported that the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FAT FINGERS (NZ) – Underwent a pre race veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
Race 3: LIVING TURF QUEEN ELIZABETH II CUP 2400 Metres
ALEGRON – Slow to begin.
IMMEDIACY (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced entering the home straight when racing in restricted room. Rider J. McDonald reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy traffic conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
NIKAU SPUR (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
ETNA ROSSO (IRE) – Raced wide throughout.
FLYING BANDIT – Over raced for the majority. Passing the 1300m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. Rider J. Ford reported that the gelding was unsuited by the tempo of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MR WATERVILLE (IRE) – Slow to begin then hampered shortly afterwards. Raced wide throughout.
WARP SPEED – Near the 700m, momentarily inconvenienced when IMMEDIACY shifted out to improve. Rider of IMMEDIACY, J. McDonald was advised to exercise greater care.
CAMPALDINO (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
DILLIAN – Obliged to steady when racing in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 600m. Approaching the 200m, had to alter course after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of IMMEDIACY.
Race 4: SKY RACING LORD MAYOR'S CUP 1800 Metres
TAVI TIME (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
REGAL AZMON – Slow to begin.
NEW ENDEAVOUR (IRE) – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
JENNILALA – Rider C. Newitt reported that the mare was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G. Bedggood was advised to report back on the post race condition of the mare in the days subsequent.
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (9).
Race 5: AQUIS STALLIONS BRC SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES 1400 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately 8 minutes when PRINCE TYCOON broke through the barriers and galloped riderless for a considerable distance before being recaptured. PRINCE TYCOON was declared a late scratching at 2.07pm. FABULANTES underwent a pre race veterinary examination when after becoming fractious and momentarily cast. FABULANTES was also declared a late scratching at 2.07pm after sustaining a laceration to off hindleg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on both PRINCE TYCOON and FABULANTES be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

N. Young, co-trainer of PRINCE TYCOON, was advised that the colt must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
GRAFTERBURNERS – Raced wide throughout. Carried wider on entering the home straight. Rider J. Collett dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
GALLO NERO – Rider T. Berry reported that the colt failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
COOL ARCHIE – Rider M. Harley was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m.
BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME – Raced wide throughout.
TORQUE TO BE SURE – Over raced during the middle stages.
AERODROME – Over raced during the early stages.
BESKAR – Rider M. Zahra reported that the colt failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and, in his opinion, may be better suited to distances shorter than today’s event.
CALL DA VINCI – Over raced during the middle stages. Carried wider at the point of the home turn by AERODROME which shifted out. Rider J. Lloyd was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m.
UNITED STATES – Raced wide throughout. Rider J. McDonald reported that the colt failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
HI BARBIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
FARNICLE – Raced wide throughout.
Following the running of race 5, the track was downgraded retrospectively to a Heavy (10). Following the running of this race, the riding group raised concerns with visibility and due to the deteriorating track conditions, the riding group withdrew their services and the remainder of the meeting was postponed at 2.32pm.
