GENERAL
 
Stewards inspected the track and upgraded to a Soft 5 at 11am.
 
UNCLOTHED was declared a late scratching from Race 2 at 7:45am on veterinary advice. Trainer P. Shailer was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
CODE BUSTER was declared a late scratching from Race 2 at 7:45am for acceptable reasons.
 
As Apprentice C. Collis was unable to make the allocated weight in Race 4, he was replaced on MISS PERSONALITY by Apprentice T. Fenlon. Apprentice C. Collis was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight
 

Race 1: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

SPANISH TREASURE – Raced wide. Raced greenly rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
VAREJAO – Raced wide.
 
WALLY'S BOY – Raced wide.
 
EKHIDNA – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly in the middle stages. Improved onto heels approaching the winning post.
 
MOON JEWEL – Began awkwardly, lost ground and was then hampered shortly after the start.
 
CRYPTIC BEAUTY – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped EKHIDNA.
 
ORCHID VALLEY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 


Race 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1000 M

RUTHVEN RUSH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
 
STRIKE WEAPON – Raced keenly approaching the home turn.
 
CERETTI – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 300m.
 
KACHI – Began awkwardly and bumped MISS LEANA.
 
MISS LEANA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide.
 
TRICKETT'S JEWEL – Over-raced in the middle stages. Inclined to lay in, in the home straight. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that his mount failed to let down in the home straight as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MISHANI SENORITA – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP         1000 M
 
BRAZEN ACT – Inclined to lay in leaving the 300m and bumped with SIGLO DE ORO.
 
MR PLAYTIME – Began awkwardly and bumped MISSING BOUNDARIES. Near the 800m, was bumped by MISSING BOUNDARIES, which was over-racing. Raced wide.
 
TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over-raced for a short distance approaching the home turn, before being held up and shifting in near the 250m to secure clear running.
 
BOOM BREAK – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight. Near the 300m, was bumped and became unbalanced when SIGLO DE ORO, which was racing greenly, shifted in.
 
CLIODHNA MAEVE (NZ) - Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after having raced at Gatton on the 28/06/25 and was cleared to start. Became fractious and contacted the running rail on leaving the mounting yard and underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
TOSMIAN – Began awkwardly and bumped SIGNATURE TART. Raced wide. Leaving the 200m, laid in for a short distance before being corrected.
 
BOMBARD – After being caught wide in the early stages, was obliged to be restrained to take up a rearward position. Obliged to stop and straighten near the 150m.
 
SHANIDAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of SHANIDAR, Apprentice E. Lang stated that the filly did not appreciate today’s conditions however was pleasing in its finishing efforts. She further added that it was the stables opinion that SHANIDAR would appreciate a step up in distance.
 
SIGLO DE ORO – Raced greenly in the home straight. Near the 300m, bumped BOOM BREAK, and as a result became unbalanced. Shortly thereafter, shifted out and bumped with BRAZEN ACT.
 
SIGNATURE TART – Bumped at the start. Raced wide.
 
MOANA GOLD (NZ) – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MISSING BOUNDARIES – Bumped on jumping. Near the 800m, when racing keenly shifted out and bumped with MR PLAYTIME.
 

Race 4: QCF CHARITY RACEDAY 19 JULY CLASS 2 HANDICAP         1000 M

I AM CAVIAR – When asked to comment on the performance of I AM CAVIAR, Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for the geldings disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
PORT ERIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 300m, shifted in to obtain clear running.
 
ECCLESTONE – Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of ECCLESTONE, Apprentice E. Lang reported that in her opinion, the gelding would derive benefit from today’s run and appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ENCOURAGED – Slow to begin. Raced greenly and shifted out rounding the home turn. Near the 300m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of PORT ERIN, which shifted in. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester, the rider of PORT ERIN was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that near the 300m, when under riding and changing positions, did not make sufficient effort to be fully clear of ENCOURAGED (J. Huxtable)  resulting in that runner becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PORT ERIN and having to take evasive action which resulted in ENOURAGED losing its rightful running. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, commencing midnight the 5th of July and concluding midnight the 13th of July.
 
INDAZA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide.
 
CHERISH THE DAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MOOD KILLER – Slow to begin.
 
SUPER ZAMBONI – Raced wide. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
MISS WATERLINE – Raced wide.

Race 5: LADBROKES BET TICKER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1845 M

CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Raced wide.
 
BAK DA MAN (NZ) – Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrythmia. Trainer J. Bruce was advised that a veterinary clearance, inclusive of ECG results and a satisfactory cardiac auscultation veterinary report post gallop of at least 1000m would be required prior to being permitted to race again.
 
KNIFE’S EDGE - Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
HEIKA – Held up rounding the home turn. Leaving the 200m, was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of TWIGMAN, which shifted in slightly, and as a result, HEIKA was obliged to steady and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. Trainer M. Dunn was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), HEIKA shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. 
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Very slow to begin.
 
MISS CHENERY – Raced wide early. Near the 1100m, was forced wider when DIANAS AFFAIR shifted out.


Race 6: EAGLE FARM 160 YEARS RACEDAY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1300 M

FIREFORCE – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that FIREFORCE began awkwardly and may have gotten its tongue over the bit, which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its finishing effort.
 
NOVEMBER SUN – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Bayliss reported that near the 600m, when racing to the inside of HEAVENLY IMPACT, the filly received a slight bump and failed to respond to his riding for the remainder of the event, proving very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 

Race 7: XXXX GOLD CLASS 5 HANDICAP    1200 M

VOLCANIC LOVE – Slow to begin.
 
MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
THE KEWESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after having an extended spell and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
BINDI'S CHOICE – Disappointed for a run near the 80m when LADY WARDELL shifted out.
 
Race 8: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1600 M

CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) – Raced wide.
 
RING BEARER – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 250m.
 
ROCK HARD LOVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Hampered near the 700m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice C. Vitler was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
 
BOONDOCKS – Bumped near the 300m.
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
FLYWHEEL – Raced wide with cover. When asked to comment on the performance of FLYWHEEL, Jockey R. Maloney stated that despite racing three wide with cover the gelding failed to let down as expected and was disappointing.
 
THE CULLINAN – Near 800m, went amiss and was eased out of the event. Upon veterinary examination it was revealed that the gelding had fractured both sesamoids in its off-foreleg, was euthanised and samples were collected. Jockey G. Cartwright took no ill effect from the incident.
 
SAVANNAH GANGSTER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
THE IRISH (IRE) – Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider approaching the 300m to secure clear running and bumped with BOONDOCKS. Apprentice C. Collis was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
RASHFORD – Tightened on jumping. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running leaving the 300m.
 

Race 9: LADBROKES QUICK MULTI CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1400 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 mins owing to an incident in Race 8.
 
LOVEWILLCOMELATER – Over-raced in the early stages and near the 1000m took hold of the bridle, obliging its rider to check and shift out to avoid the heels of VELOZES. Raced wide.
 
MAKE A CALL – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 200m until the 100m.
 
LITTLE JEANIE (NZ) – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 400m until the 200m.
 
TRISKELION (NZ) – Over-raced in the middle stages and was obliged to steady near the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn. Near the 300m was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of HELLO LOVELY, which shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider.
 
VICTORY FLAME – Slow to begin. Near the 250m, was obliged to steady from the heels of LOVEWILLCOMELATER which was taken out by VELOZES which was racing greenly and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
 
VELOZES – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and shifted ground despite the efforts of its rider.
 
YOU KAY SQUEEZE – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, particularly in the middle stages, Apprentice C. Vitler stated that his instructions were to settle back in the field which is consistent with its’ racing pattern. He further added that the mare, after beginning fairly, was reluctant to muster early speed and settled several lengths behind the body of the field in the middle stages. Apprentice C.Vitler further stated that approaching the home turn YOU KAY SQUEEZE then improved before finishing off the event. Stewards whilst noting Apprentice C. Vitlers’ comments advised that in similar circumstances there would be an expectation that he demonstrates greater vigor in order to maintain contact with the body of the field. Stewards noted his comments.
 
HELLO LOVELY – Shifted out abruptly near the 300m before being corrected.
 
BERNICE'S SPIRIT – Jockey L. Dempsey reported at scale that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout. Raced wide.
 
BOROGORU – Raced wide.
