SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Doomben 22/04/26
Race 2: Trainer’s representative C. Cavanagh advised Stewards that TSZYUYA would now be sent for a freshen up.
Race 7: Trainer M. Dunn advised Stewards that SINATRA pulled up well upon return to the stables. The gelding was examined by the stable veterinarian, which found no abnormalities. He further added that it is his intention to continue with SINATRA’s preparation and drop back to country or provincial races.
GENERAL
Co Trainers A. & R. Archibald were fined $300 pursuant to AR 206(2) for the late gear request of blinkers off for SWISS EXILE in Race 6.
Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of Apprentice C. Baker as the rider of DEMON DARB in Race 8.
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards inspected the track and downgraded it to a Soft 7 at 9:53am.
RACE 1:SKY RACING FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M
BENGAL DIAMOND – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running leaving the 600m. Passing the 200m, was obliged to alter course and shift in to avoid the heels of BLAKEMORE AVENUE.
BLUE SPINEL – Approaching the 600m, commenced to over-race for a short distance after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of DIRTY DANCING. Held up for clear running leaving the 300m. Jockey A. Jones reported at scale that in her opinion BLUE SPINEL may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ENTERPRISE LUCIA – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages.
SAVAGERY VIBE – Leaving the 600m, commenced to over-race and had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of BLUE SPINEL. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and passing the 50m, was obliged to stop and straighten. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to it’s off-side knee.
PARTY SPIRIT – Raced wide.
CINQUE TERRE – Raced wide.
JOY A PLENTY - Declared a late scratching at 10:10am due to the track downgrade. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that JOY A PLENTY would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 7 or worse.
AMORE VELOCE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
BEREZKA – Raced wide. Jockey R. Maloney reported at scale that in his opinion BEREZKA may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MORE LOVE – Raced wide.
RACE 2: RESINC SOLAR CHARGE OF BEERSHEBA COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M
BEAUX RUMBLE – Over-raced in the middle stages. Approaching the 900m, was carried in by LET'SFACETHEMUSIC, which shifted in.
LET'SFACETHEMUSIC – Shifted in on jumping away.
PANTELONE – When asked to comment on performance, Apprentice B. Osmond reported that PANTELONE raced flat throughout and in his opinion may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions.
ESTRONDO – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey V. Duric reported that ESTRONDO may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
DAGGERS – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of BEAUX RUMBLE, which was carried in by LET'SFACETHEMUSIC. Jockey G. Geran the rider of LET'SFACETHEMUSIC pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that leaving the 900m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BEAUX RUMBLE and as a result, BEAUX RUMBLE was carried in and across the running line of DAGGERS,resulting in DAGGERS having to be restrained to avoid heels. Jockey G. Geran’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 28th April and concluding midnight 5th May 2026. Jockey G. Geran was advised of his right of appeal. Leaving the 400m, shifted in marginally, becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of BEAUX RUMBLE and as a result shifted back out, hampering WINSOME STAR.
EYE OF THE EAGLE – Hampered on jumping away.
WINSOME STAR – Slow to begin. Momentarily hampered leaving the 400m.
RACE 3:JOHN BAKER BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1000 M
PRE EMINENCE – Change of tactics – Attempt to settle further back with cover. Settled back and raced wide without cover throughout. When asked to comment on performance, Apprentice J. McMurray reported that PRE EMINENCE proved disappointing when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MANOLO BLING – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped MUSCHIALLI shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and passing the 250m was obliged to stop and straighten.
ACRES AWAY - Declared a late scratching at 12:25pm due to the track downgrade. Trainer B. Healy was advised that ACRES AWAY would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 7 or worse.
MUSCHIALLI - Bumped shortly after the start.
PALAWA KANI – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported at scale that PALAWA KANI was inclined to over-race. Approaching the 800m, improved into restricted room, resulting in the mare being awkwardly placed at heels and commenced to over-race.
RACE 4:NAKED ACCOUNTING RATS OF TOBRUK BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1600 M
PERFECT PLAY (GB) – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
LUPINE (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping away. When asked to comment on performance, Apprentice J. McMurray reported that in his opinion, LUPINE may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions.
CAVALRY MAN – Began awkwardly.
ECLAIR AWESOME – Began awkwardly.
EXTRAORDINAIRE (FR) – Hampered on jumping away.
EXCEED SPEED – Race wide throughout. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that after being caught wide, EXCEED SPEED proved disappointing over the concluding stages.
I'M HEROIC – Change of tactics – Settle further forward. After beginning awkwardly, settled at the rear of the field.
RETAINER – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported that RETAINER failed to travel from the 600m and in his opinion may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions.
SIR WINNIE – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that SIR WINNIE raced flat throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer R. Lipp stated that in his opinion SIR WINNIE may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions and was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.
CELESTIAL BLAZE – Jockey V. Duric reported that it was not his intention to establish a significant lead on the field, however his mount over-raced early and was reluctant to settle.
GLASS OF ROSE – Lost its’s off-fore plate.
After the running of this race, after persistent showers, Stewards downgraded the track to a Heavy 8 at 1:42pm.
RACE 5:THIS STORY AUSTRALIA CALAWAY GAL 1200 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins, owing to MAGRITTE having to be resaddled upon arrival at the barriers.
ESPERANZA - Over-raced in the early stages. Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room for a short distance after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of THE AUTUMN AFFAIR. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that when placed under pressure, ESPERANZA failed to respond to her riding which she attributed to the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and a minor laceration to its off foreleg. Trainer R. Lipp was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the subsequent days.
MAGRITTE - Raced wide.
FEARLESS WIN – Raced wide.
REMEMBRALL - Began awkwardly, contacted the outside barrier partition and lost ground.
AFFARI - Raced wide. Leaving the 800m, had to be steadied after racing in restricted room to the inside of FEARLESS WIN, which improved to that runners outside to establish a three wide line.
RACE 6:THE INDUSTRY PLATFORM KOKODA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
HATCHET – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey V. Duric reported that in his opinion, HATCHET would derive benefit from today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CLOUDLAND (NZ) – Reared as the start was effected. Approaching the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of HATCHET. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of CLOUDLAND (NZ), Trainer K. Lee’s stated that the gelding had excuses for its performances for the first two runs of this preparation and with the conditions to suit today, was confident of a forward showing.
SWISS EXILE – Shifted in on jumping away.
OUROBOROS – Declared a late scratching at 10:05am due to the track downgrade. Trainer M. Hoysted was advised that OUROBOROS would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 7 or worse.
RACE 7:LADBROKES MICK DITTMAN PLATE 1000 M
DR FARTHING - Shifted in on jumping away and bumped LA BELLA BOOM.
ANGEL LADDER – Shifted in on jumping away.
SYLPH – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start.
LA BELLA BOOM – Bumped on jumping away and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
FINANCIALLY FAMOUS – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide.
DESANTO – Laid out throughout the event. Raced wide. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey T. Marshall reported that after beginning only fairly, he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated and was slightly disappointed with today’s efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer J. Mason was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the subsequent days.
RACE 8:MORETON HIRE PRINCESS STAKES 1600 M
SPICY LU – Bumped with SHE MOVES TOO on jumping away.
SMEXY - Laid in in the early part of the home straight and was obliged to stop and straighten passing the 300m. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey T. Berry reported that in his opinion, SMEXY may be better suited to less distance than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer N. McCall agreed with the comments of T. Berry and was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of SMEXY in the subsequent days.
SAMARELLE (NZ) - When asked to comment on the performance of SAMARELLE (NZ), Jockey R. Maloney reported that in his opinion, SAMARELLE (NZ) may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Charlton was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the subsequent days.
SHORTCUT – Bumped with DIVERSITY on jumping away.
FIREBALL MISS – Hampered on jumping away. Leaving the 1000m, shifted wider on the track and raced three wide for the remainder.
SHE MOVES TOO – Change of tactics – Attempt to settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled midfield. Bumped with SPICY LU on jumping away.
DIVERSITY – Bumped with SHORTCUT on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey C. Schofield reported that DIVERSITY failed to travel from the 500m and in his opinion may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer M. Freedman was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the subsequent days.
SPICE PRAWN – Shifted out on jumping away.
NORTY FORTY – Blundered on jumping away.
MISS ADRIFT – When asked to comment on performance, Apprentice J. McMurray reported that MISS ADRIFT over-raced and, in his opinion, may be better suited to distances shorter than today’s event.
PARADISE AS USUAL – Passing the 1400m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of SHORTCUT which shifted in before being corrected. Jockey M. Rodd the rider of SHORTCUT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.
RACE 9:CRICKS HIGHWAY BRISBANE HANDICAP 1600 M
ANTINO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
KNIGHT'S CHOICE - Declared a late scratching at 1:16pm due to the track downgrade. Co Trainers J. Symons and S. Laxon were advised that KNIGHT'S CHOICE would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 7 or worse.
MISS JOELENE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SEA KING (GB) - Declared a late scratching at 1:16pm due to the track downgrade. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that SEA KING (GB)would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Heavy 8 or worse.
MARGOT'S DEEL – Near the 400m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of MISS JOELENE, which shifted out to improve into clear running. Jockey C. Graham, the rider of MISS JOELENE pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. The particulars being that approaching the 400m, she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MARGOT'S DEEL and as a result of this shift, MARGOT'S DEEL has had to be checked to avoid heels. Jockey C. Graham’s license to ride in raced was suspended for 11 days commencing midnight 2nd May and concluding midnight 13th May 2026. Jockey C. Graham was advised of her right of appeal.
LUCKY GIRL (IRE) - Declared a late scratching at 1:16pm due to the track downgrade. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that LUCKY GIRL (IRE) would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Heavy 8 or worse.
EXOTIQUE MISS – Over-raced for a short distance leaving the 1300m whilst being restrained. Laid out whilst weakening over the concluding stages.
RISING PACIFIC (NZ) - Declared a late scratching at 1:16pm due to the track downgrade. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that RISING PACIFIC (NZ) would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Heavy 8 or worse.
KRONENBOURG (NZ) – When questioned regarding KRONENBOURG (NZ) leading in today’s event, Apprentice E. Lang explained that her instructions were consistent with those provided at the Mooloolaba Cup over 1600m and similar to the instructions given at its first start this preparation at Doomben over 1350m. She added that over the 1350m, KRONENBOURG (NZ) was unable to show early gate speed and settled further back than anticipated. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer T. Gollan stated that with the addition of blinkers and tongue tie and having conditions to suit, KRONENBOURG (NZ) was able to take up a favourable leading position from a wide barrier. He further added that given today’s pattern of horses failing to make ground, also may have contributed to today’s performance.
DEMON DARB – Trainer’s representative O. Peoples advised Stewards that consideration would be given to spelling DEMON DARB and would report back to Stewards on the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.
