The following runner was declared a late scratching at 8:06am due to no available rider:
Race 3 – BOTTOM BAR
 
Stewards extended leniency regarding late rider declarations due to the limited number of riders available at the meeting.
 
 
RACE 1: TJF MILK MAIDEN PLATE 3YO & UP 1000M
BULLRUN – Inclined to lay outwards over the final 100m.
 
LISTING CAPITAL – Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
ANTHROPOLOGY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
BEL SONG – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOQUITO – Slow to begin.
 
MILITARY GIRL – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing mild signs of colic and was treated accordingly, no veterinary stand down required.
 
ROYAL ARTIST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey E Bell reported that in her opinion the mare may have choked down in running and has recommended the addition of a tongue tie to ROYAL ARTIST’s gear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed ROYAL ARTIST to have a poor post-race recovery. Trainer G Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares record due to a poor performance.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a good 3.
 
 
RACE 2: FARM AND CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS & GOLDACRES Class B Handicap 1000M
 
TAKE THREE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Shifted wider to improve approaching the 400m, carrying EMERALD JOY wider on the track. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLASHMASTER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
KENNY THE BAKER – Hampered on jumping by EMERALD JOY which shifted outwards and slow into stride as a result. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Hampered for clear racing room over the final 100m when TAKE THREE laid inwards and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages. Jockey R Silvera Olivera (TAKE THREE) was reminded of his obligation to ensure his mounts maintain a straight course under riding.
 
MIDNIGHT MAGGIE (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
EMERALD JOY – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards hampering KENNY THE BAKER. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 400m carried wider by TAKE THREE. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
TENNER – Inclined to lay outwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
RACE 3: EMERALD FORD QTIS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1280M
 
DESERT STAR – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure.
 
I’M STELLAR – Blundered on jumping. Bumped with STRAYA PRIDE shortly after the start.
 
STRAYA PRIDE – Began awkwardly. Bumped with I’M STELLAR shortly after the start and lost ground as a result. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
HOLY HOLY HOLY – Slow into stride. Impeded shortly after the start when MISS ELOTAN shifted outwards and as a result was eased to find a position on the rail. Leaving the 900m was crowded by WAYFARER’S WAY, which laid inwards despite the efforts of its rider, and lost ground as a result. Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight. Near the 100m switched inwards across the heels of WAYFARER’S WAY which shifted outwards under pressure. Apprentice N Olzard (WAYFARER’S WAY) was reminded of her obligations to ensure her mount maintains a straight course when under pressure. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey R Silvera Olivera stated that he was not overly disappointed with the performance considering that after beginning only fairly he elected to obtain a position on the rail, subsequently travelling well in the early stages, he had lost ground near the 900m and as a result took some time to regain momentum. He further added that when under pressure in the home straight he had difficulty obtaining clear racing room and having to alter course over the final 100m.
 
TOO MANY KISSES – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
WAYFARER’S WAY – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Leaving the 900m laid inwards despite the efforts of its rider, crowding HOLY HOLY HOLY. Near the 100m shifted outwards under pressure briefly hampering HOLY HOLY HOLY resulting in that runner switching inwards to maintain clear racing room.
 
MISS ELOTAN – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted outwards impeding HOLY HOLY HOLY. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOTTOM BAR – Was declared a late scratching at 8:05am due to no available rider.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 900m in which HOLY HOLY HOLY (jockey R Silvera Olivera) lost ground. After hearing evidence from apprentice N Olzard (WAYFARER’S WAY), jockey W Satherley (TOO MANY KISSES), jockey R Silvera Olivera (HOLY HOLY HOLY) and viewing the available replays, it was determined that leaving the 900m WAYFARER’S WAY laid in and away from TOO MANY KISSES despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in HOLY HOLY HOLY becoming crowded and losing ground. Stewards considering the evidence from riders and the limited replays available could not be satisfied to the required standard that the interference suffered could be attributed to any one rider, however advised all riders to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
RACE 4: PIRTEK EMERALD OPEN Handicap 1280M
 
ECHO POINT – Slow to begin.
 
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. When questioned in relation to the performance apprentice J Dooley stated that she was instructed to not get trapped wide and as a result after not beginning well she elected to ease to find a position with cover, she further added that when asked for an effort the gelding failed to respond as expected.
 
FINE SHOT – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of ECHO POINT momentarily near the 150m. Jockey J Rudd was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) in which he failed to ride his mount out fully to the finish.
 
I’M ZAC – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid outwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZIPITALIST – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey N Summers stated that the gelding was back in distance today in comparison to its most recent starts and from the outside barrier was unable to find a position close to the speed, getting trapped wide with cover. She further added that ZIPITALIST was on the wrong lead from a point near the 800m which may have proved detrimental to the geldings chances over the concluding stages.
 
MOORABINDA MICK – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight. Jockey R Silvera Olivera pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR211(1) in which he returned to scales in excess of 0.5kg overweight. In determining penalty stewards were mindful of Mr Olivera’s clear record in relation to the rule in the preceding twelve months and his guilty plea. Mr Olivera was subsequently fined $100.
 
BOLD HUSSAR – Slow into stride. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
BAYERISCHE – Briefly held up for clear racing room upon entering the home straight.
 
 
RACE 5: PRIME PLUMBING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1630M
 
COLD ONE – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
FINAL COMMENT – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. Briefly held up approaching the 100m before switching wider on the track.
 
MADAM EXCELS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
FINAL MISSION – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
LATIN LOVE – Fractious prior to the start. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
