GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 6 - Jockey B Lerena - +1kg – (56kg)
 
 
Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)
 
 ALZURRI – Began awkwardly.
 
IMPOSING TIGER – Became awkwardly placed on heels rounding the home turn when attempting to obtain clear running.
 
LORD DANILO – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer J. Johnston was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.  
 
LUCIFER THE CAT – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested.
 
MAJOR FREESTONE – Began awkwardly and shifted out before being bumped. Laid out for some distance near the 1100m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MALOTRU – Bumped on jumping. Laid out for some distance near the 1100m. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Marshall advised, in his opinion, the gelding may not have appreciated the softer track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and an upper respiratory noise Trainer J. Bruce was advised that a veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic examination would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race. Mr Bruce advised that consideration would now be given to the gelding’s immediate racing future.
 
MISTER SWEET – After being marginally slow into stride was bumped before becoming awkwardly placed on heels and being momentarily steadied. Carried wider near the 1100m and raced wide from then on.
 
LIPSTICK LIES – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPRING DAZE – Bumped on jumping and was crowded soon after. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WORDLY SPIRIT – Laid out near the 1100m when momentarily crowded, raced wide from then on. Laid in rounding the home turn and under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C. Bayliss was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted that Jockey Bayliss maintained third position, however were of the opinion that his vigour over the final three strides was far below the expected standard. When asked to comment on the mare settling more forward on this occasion, Jockey Bayliss advised that obtaining a forward position had been consistent with the instructions previously, however the mare had been unable to do so on those occasions over shorter distances.
 
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 7.
 
 
Race 2: DOMESTIC & FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)

Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing the Official Judge Mr S. Fahey to review the patrol footage of the event to definitively confirm the placings as the photo finish had failed to capture an image. After reviewing the official patrol footage, Mr Fahey determined that PROCLAIMER, originally declared thirdplace, had finished ahead of DENUTO, originally declared second place, and subsequently amended the official placings as follows:
 
1st HEAVENLY LOVE
2nd PROCLAIMER
3rd DENUTO
4th FRATIANNO
 
After conferring with connections of both PROCLAIMER and DENUTO, Steward declared correct weight on the Judges’ amended placings. Corrective measures were undertaken by the Photo Finish Operator and Stewards confirmed the equipment’s operability prior to the next event.
 
BATE – Bumped soon after the start. Bumped on entering the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Trainer’s Representative C. Richardson advised that in his opinion the gelding was disappointing, however may not have appreciated the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DENUTO – Bumped on jumping and again soon after.
 
FRATIANNO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HEAVENLY LOVE – Shied at the winning post and shifted out abruptly resulting in Jockey M. Savva becoming badly unbalanced.  
 
GOOD HEARTED WOMAN – Bumped near the 1000m when ENIDZEL improved onto heels and had to be shifted out. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Commenced to give ground near the 400m.
 
AOOM’S CHOICE – Shifted out and around heels to obtain clear running near the 200m.
 
VICTOIRE D’AMOUR – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
ENIDZEL – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 1000m having to be restrained before shifting wider and bumping GOOD HEARTED WOMAN. Bumped on entering the home straight.
 
STANDLEE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
PROCLAIMER – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: TEMPORARY FENCE & BARRIER HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (860m)

MISS DE MEDICI – Bumped approaching the 400m. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of LEICA PHERRARI near the 150m before continuing to lay in and becoming again awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner near the 50m.
 
ANGELIC BOOM – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
HACKING – Bumped approaching the 400m. Crowded passing the winning-post and shifted in when LEICA PHERRARI shifted ground.
 
LEICA PHERRARI – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly on heels near the 700m before commencing to lay out. Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight, before shifting in passing the winning-post and crowding HACKING. Apprentice J. Hampson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
FLUDWAY – Began very awkwardly, bumped and lost ground.
 
TOUTE SWEET – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
 
Race 4: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)

DASHING BASICS – Bumped soon after the start. Dictated inwards leaving the 900m when DAY TO REMEMBER shifted in.
 
DAY TO REMEMBER – Jockey M. Savva pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in that leaving the 900m, she did permit her mount to shift in, dictating DASHING BASICS into the line of MUCHACHO, which was eased and carried inwards, in turn resulting in BERTUS having to be checked and further carried inwards resulting in RUPEEZY being checked and tightened for room. Jockey Savvas’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days, commencing Sunday, 25 May 2025 and to conclude Sunday, 8 June 2025 on which day she may ride. In assessing the matter, Stewards considered the degree of interference and carelessness, Jockey Savva’s guilty plea and record in relation to the rule. Jockey Savva was advised of her rights to an appeal.
 
MUCHACHO – Bumped on jumping. Tightened, obliged to shift in and eased near the 850m when DASHING BASICS was dictated inwards by DAY TO REMEMBER.
 
SHAQUE D’AMOUR – Bumped on jumping. Shifted out and away from heels soon after the start.
 
ONATARE – Bumped on jumping.
 
PREACHBULL – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 150m.
 
SHIRLEY PEARLY – Crowded soon after the start and bumped. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, before shifting out and inconveniencing SCRUFFY near the 150m. Jockey J Lloyd was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). Jockey J. Lloyd was fined $200 under the provisions of AR128(2) for leaving the course without permission.
 
SOCIALLY RED – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
BERTUS – Bumped on jumping. Tightened, obliged to shift in and check near the 850m. Momentarily crowded near the 500m.
 
SCRUFFY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Obliged to momentarily steady from heels near the 150m when  
 
PIPATINA – Laid out rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Thompson advised his mount had been inclined to lay out throughout the event and proved difficult to ride out. Jockey A. Thompson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.  
 
RUPEEZY – Bumped on jumping. Tightened and obliged to check near the 850m when BERTUS was carried inwards.
 
 
Race 5: LVTC 2025 STARLIGHT FOUNDATION CHARITY GOLF DAY 27 JUNE RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP (1100m)

RYLOV – Bumped on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after having to be steadied. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
JACKA STANDS ALONE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LET’S DANCE JANDY – Bumped on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
THE LOUVRE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
HEY DAISY – Blundered on entering the home straight.
 
RUBYDOO – Began awkwardly and bumped. Blundered on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off-fore consistent with being galloped on.
 
TIPSY TIGER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Allen was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
BEAN BALL – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
NOBLE INTENT – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BOLD RANSOM – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps.
 
TOO MUCH MAKEUP – Slow into stride and buffeted. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Lost its off-hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 6: TICKETS ON SALE FOR THE 2025 GATTON CUP CALCUTTA 27 JUNE CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1400m)

REGAL EDITION – Bumped on jumping. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Zechner advised that, in his opinion, the gelding was not suited by the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
HAYAKU – Bumped on jumping and was slow into stride.
 
SMOOTH FLIGHT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages before becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 1000m. Laid out for some distance near the 1100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CAVALGEIRO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
READY TO MINGLE – Raced keenly on heels and laid near the 1100m before being crowded for a short distance.
 
 
Race 7: TICKETS ON SALE FOR THE 2025 LADBROKES GATTON CUP 28 JUNE RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP (1400m)

BEAT HOLLOW – Began very awkwardly.
 
BEAUTY EIGHT – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
DIVINE GEM – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
MISS MONEYPENNY – Slow into stride before becoming awkwardly placed on heels. Crowded for some distance passing the 1100m and bumped on a number of occasions when MIGHTY JUDD attempted to shift in, before becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 1000m and buffeted. Improved onto heels near the 800m and head to be steadied. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 300m.
 
BOLD AS BRASS – Momentarily crowded near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.  
 
MIGHTY JUDD – Shifted in and bumped MISS MONEYPENNY on several occasions passing the 1100m. Continued to crowd that runner for some distance until approaching the 700m. Stewards, after taking evidence from Jockey M. Hellyer (MISS MONEYPENNY) and Jockey M. Kennedy, advised Jockey Kennedy that she was to exercise greater care in similar circumstances and relieve pressure when making contact with another runner for a considerable distance. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
CRYPT DE PIN – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
 
Race 8: OFFICIAL 2025 LADBROKES GATTON CUP AFTERPARTY FALEVY’S HOTEL GATTON RATINGS BAND 0-62 HANDICAP (1600m)

SOCK’EMSID – After beginning caught wide early was permitted to stride forward near the 1100m to obtain a forward position outside the leaders near the 800m, before pressing forward and obtaining a one-off position near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out and away from heels on entering the home straight when THEBARBEROFSEVILLE shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice M. Philpot advised in her opinion, that the wide run proved detrimental to the gelding’s finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
AMENOPHIS – When questioned in relation to the gelding leading, Apprentice G. Simmons advised after beginning well and identifying a lack of early pace, she allowed her mount to stride forward and obtain a leading position near the 1100m.
 
THEBARBEROFSEVILLE – Bumped on jumping. Shifted out on entering the home straight momentarily hampering SOCK’EMSID which was crowded out onto BAVARIAN LADY. Apprentice K. Lenton was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
VIADELAMORE – Began awkwardly.
 
BILPA MOREA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Toowoomba on Saturday, 17 April 2025 and was cleared to start. Blundered on entering the home straight. Shifted out and away from heels near the 300m to obtain clear running.
 
GIDDY GAN’S JOY – Laid out for some distance soon after the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 400m.
 
TOBA – Shifted out and away from heels soon after entering the home straight to obtain clear running.
 
MONTESSA – Bumped on jumping and shifted out away from heels soon after. Raced keenly near the 1100m, shifted in and bumped the inside running rail before laying out. Raced keenly for some distance thereafter.
 
BELLA BABE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped on entering the home straight and shifted out.
 
BAVARIAN LADY – Shifted out away from the heels of SOCK’EMSAID which was carried out by THEBARBEROFSEVILLE near the 300m before being bumped.
