SUPPLEMENTARY:
From Ipswich Turf Club Meeting 25/3/2015 – Race 3
Trainer K. Schweida reported that blood tests taken from CURTAILMENT the day following the race had revealed an elevated white blood count indicating that the filly was suffering from an infection. Mr Schweida stated that CURTAILMENT would now be treated for the infection and will trial before racing again.
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 14/3/2015 – Race 4
Trainer C. Martin reported that an endoscopic examination of JEFFERSON PARK following the track revealed no abnormality. Mr Martin indicated that JEFFERSON PARK would now continue with its current racing preparation.
Race 1: McEvoy Mitchell Racing Maiden Plate – 2200m
1st – Gallantly 2nd – Bulldog’s Pride 3rd – Tequila Slammer 4th – Classic Star
BULLDOG’S PRIDE – Connections advise the gelding may be ridden further back in the field today compared to its last start. The horse was ridden accordingly. App L. Attard was reminded of his obligations with regards to excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner.
CASINO MOON – Slow to begin.
MR MALU – Raced wide early before being ridden to the lead near the 1400m.
CLASSIC STAR – Jockey S. Galloway reported that the filly raced flat today and may have felt the effect of its last start performance on a heavy track. The stable indicated that the filly may now be sent for a spell.
Race 2: Bayside Plasterboard QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Man Of His Word 2nd – Agree To 3rd – Major Consul 4th – Heroic Lass
The start was delayed when TRUE SAGA proved difficult to load. Trainer B. Guy was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
AGREE TO – Began awkwardly. Jockey S. Galloway reported that the colt was inclined to race greenly throughout the race. Jockey Galloway was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
DARK NAZAR – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide for the majority.
MS MYOLA – Jockey J. Morris reported that the saddle shifted and as a result he was unable to test the filly at any stage in the home straight.
EIGHT BELOW – Hung out approaching the home turn. When questioned as to the performance jockey C. Whiteley stated that the filly failed to travel comfortably at any stage throughout the race and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
MAN OF HIS WORD – Laid in throughout the home straight.
HEROIC LASS – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 3: Rix Developments Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Gunsmoke 2nd – Panya 3rd – Assertive Love 4th – Rumour Hazit
The start of the race was delayed when CHICAGO proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Caltabiano was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
KELLIE PICK – Slow to begin.
PANYA – Slow to begin.
SIMPLY SHOWTIME – Near the 1000m had to be checked and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and disappointed for a run to the inside of LOVESONG on straightening and was then held up in the early stages of the home straight.
GEIGER BABY – Near the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of SIMPLY SHOWTIME.
CHICAGO – Near the 1000m had to be steadied from heels. When questioned as to the tactics and overall performance jockey L. Rolls advised that his instructions were to take up a handy position. Jockey Rolls stated that after beginning fairly he attempted to push forward however, was unable to muster the necessary speed and instead of being caught wide he elected to restrain and take a trailing position behind GEIGER BABY. Jockey Rolls added that for this reason he was forced to race further back than anticipated. Jockey Rolls further added that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action today and was inclined to lay in behind other runners when placed under pressure leaving the 500m and in his opinion was disappointing. Trainer M. Caltabiano noted that the mare was wearing concussion plates today as it has suffered from hoof issues in the past. Nonetheless Mr Caltabiano expressed his disappointment in the performance and stated CHICAGO would now be sent for an immediate spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery rate. A swab sample was taken.
ENTIRE SAVINGS – Near the 200m shifted in abruptly resulting in App S. Eilbeck having to stop riding and straighten.
RUMOUR HAZIT – Jockey A. Taylor was fined $200.00 for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race.
Jockey A. Allen the rider of GUNSMOKE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SIMPLY SHOWTIME, which had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey Allen’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 5 April 2015 and to expire midnight 17 April 2015.
Following the running of this race K. Wharton was stood down by the Club’s doctor and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 4: Coastal Fresh Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Safecracker 2nd – Water Boy 3rd – Gundy Magic 4th – Chief’s Fav
OTHER WAY - As J. Morris was overweight stewards permitted A. Allen to be substituted as the rider. Jockey Morris was subsequently fined $100.00.
TWINCITI DANCER – Prior to the start was inspected by the veterinary surgeon at the request of its rider and cleared to take its place in the race. Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground.
ART OF PURFECTION – Began awkwardly.
OTHER WAY – Hampered on jumping away. Inconvenienced near the 100m. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Allen was fined $300.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
RUMOURING – Hampered on jumping away. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey C. Whiteley stated that after beginning well he was able to push forward to the lead with relative ease and was able to set a steady tempo during the early stages. Jockey Whiteley added that during the middle stages the mare was pressured when other runners improved to his outside. However the mare was under pressure leaving the 500m and proved disappointing. Jockey Whiteley was of the view that the mare may be better suited over shorter distances. Stable representative Ben Rodgers was at a loss to explain the poor performance and undertook to advise stewards should any abnormalities come to light in the days subsequent to the race.
CHIEF’S FAV – Overraced in the early stages.
GUNDY MAGIC – Held up rounding the home turn.
LACADA RAIN – Obliged to cover extra ground rounding the home turn and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner.
WITCHES LUCK – Inconvenienced near the 300m.
WATER BOY – Hung out over the final 200m and bumped SAFECRACKER on a number of occasions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SAFECRACKER – Bumped by WATERBOY on a number of occasions over the final 200m and near the 100m became unbalanced for a short distance. Jockey M. Hellyer (WATERBOY) was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out. Raced wide throughout.
ONEMORE FOR NAARA – Had to be steadied from heels over the concluding stages.
VALTARI – Jockey N. Day was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
Race 5: Jeep Men Of League Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Vimzig 2nd – The Dark Passenger 3rd – Grappa Brandy 4th – Riva Del Mar
WATERFRONT – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide throughout.
ROSES FOR CHLOE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
CABANATUAN – Began awkwardly.
SHEZ EKTRAORDINARY – Began awkwardly.
HAVEN DUKE – Tightened for room on jumping away.
UNIQUE FLYER - Tightened for room on jumping away. Near the 1100m inconvenienced and then overraced for some distance thereafter. Raced wide throughout.
RIVA DEL MAR - Tightened for room on jumping away.
AWESOME MORE - Tightened for room on jumping away. Raced wide in the early stages.
ONEMORE TWIST – Blundered on jumping away.
TWILIGHT PRINCESS – Raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Queensland Rugby League BenchMark 65 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Groovy Gal 2nd – Captain Tango 3rd – Rustic Play 4th – Casinomac
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards reviewed the patrol footage to ascertain whether any runner had been impeded by two patrons who had invaded the course proper over the concluding stages of the race. Stewards were satisfied that this incident had no material affect on the placings and subsequently declared correct weight. Stewards have obtained particulars of the individuals involved and will inquire into their actions at a time and date to be fixed.
EPIC CHOICE – Steadied from the heels of SHOWABITOFHEART shortly after the start.
Race 7: Waxy’s Class 3 Plate – 1400m
1st – My Last Fling 2nd – Chillin With Dylan 3rd – Forelock 4th – The Deestructor
RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
UNADULTERATED – Slow to begin.
AMAJILL – Bumped shortly after the start.
FORELOCK – Bumped shortly after the start.
VINTAGE BON – Overraced in the early stages.
CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Jockey J. Morris reported that the colt began better than expected today which resulted in it racing further forward than anticipated. Jockey Morris added that the colt raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained and would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start.
Race 8: QT Hotel Gold Coast Ratings Band 0-62 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Duorosa 2nd – Habsburg 3rd – Dubai Gee Eye 4th – Full Hammer
OUR GRAND FINALE – As App M. Powell was reprimanded for failing to claim his full allowance and was subsequently replaced by App S. Eilbeck.
LOGICAL OUTCOME was examined behind the barriers by the veterinary surgeon at the request of the rider and was subsequently found to be lame in the off fore leg. LOGICAL OUTCOME was withdrawn by order of stewards at 3.21 p.m. All monies invested on LOGICAL OUTCOME were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 3.21 p.m.:

Race 9: GCTC Easter Raceday – April 4 BenchMark H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Not Too Sure 2nd – Florida Fellow 3rd – Diamond Trail 4th – Warhogg
RIVER SPIRIT – Trainer S. Lee was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of C. Whiteley as the rider.
BLOODED – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
EUPHONIC – Raced wide in the early stages.
NAKANAI – Near the 800m had to be steadied when tightened for room. App S. Eilbeck (DIAMOND TRAIL) was reprimanded for shifting out at that point.
DIAMOND TRAIL – Momentarily disappointed for a run approaching the 200m.
JOHNNYDRAMA – Raced wide throughout.
Race 10: Win A Legassick Diamond Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Round Mountain Gal 2nd – Starocity 3rd – Star Lady 4th – Our Songbird
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Trainer B. Ahrens advised that from the wide barrier today the mare may be ridden further back in the field. Jockey J. Morris reported that after beginning well he was obliged to race wide and as a result elected to allow the mare to stride forward to settle outside the leader. Raced wide in the early stages.
WAR ROBE – Slow to begin.
LEGAL COUNSEL – Began awkwardly.
STARS OF LOVE – Slow to begin and was then hampered shortly thereafter. Approaching the 900m improved into restricted room between KIRCHNER and WAR ROBE and had to be steadied.
OLIVE COM – Near the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of LEGAL COUNSEL, which shifted out. When questioned as to the tactics adopted trainer M. Dunn noted that the filly was having its first start for his stable and he had instructed the rider to obtain a midfield position if possible. Mr Dunn stated that from the awkward barrier the filly was obliged to settle further back than anticipated. Mr Dunn indicated that he may consider varying tactics at the filly’s next start, in which case he was advised to inform stewards prior to the race.
KIRCHNER – Improved onto heels and had to be steadied approaching the 900m.
BON JET – Approaching the 900m had to be steadied when tightened for room between LUNAR VOYAGE and LAMBENCY, which had a tendency to lay in. C. Small (LAMBENCY) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
STAROCITY – Near the 700m had to be steadied when tightened for room by BON JET, which was inclined to lay in.
STAR LADY – Raced wide throughout.
PERSIST – Raced wide throughout.
