GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
 
Race 6. J. Stanley +0.5kg
 
Race 1. Trainer G. Heinrich was fined $300 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider for ANTILLES GOLD (Race 1) and CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS (Race 3.)
 
Race 3. Co-trainers T Edmonds & S. McLean were fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider for BRUTAL ADVANCE.
 
Race 6. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer A. Campton for failing to scratch dual acceptor SUJEED in Race 6 when it obtained a run in Race 8 on late Thursday afternoon.
 
Race 8. Stewards accepted the reason for late rider replacement of D. Turner for SUJEED for A. Allen.  
 
Race 8. Trainer L. Freedman was severely reprimanded pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch SINGULAR in Race 8 by the prescribed time. Stewards in determining penalty, noted Mr. Freedman’s good record in relation to the rule.
 


Race 1: MITEK MAIDEN PLATE             1400 Metres

ANTILLES GOLD – Slow to begin.
 
BOOTS WITH THE FUR – Raced wide with cover throughout. Weakened in the home straight. Rider N. Day reported his mount was not suited to the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
WEEKEND ARTIST – Raced wide without cover.
 
BOROGORU – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
AKKU – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight when under pressure.
 
Following the running of this race at 1.16pm, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (8), retrospectively.
 

Race 2: DINDAS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP      1200 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 mins when FULLY SUBSCRIBED required farrier attention at the barriers.

ELLTITUDE – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
VALENCIA ROC (NZ) – Near the 700m, was awkwardly placed to the inside of ELLTITUDE, which laid in. Approaching the 500m, steadied when disappointed for a run between CITY BOUND and ELLTITUDE. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 300m.
 
CITY BOUND – Slow to begin.
 
LADY ENCRYPTEAU – In the early stages, laid in.
 
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS – Knuckled on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. 
 
SANS EGAL – Shifted out under pressure in the early part of the home straight, carrying FULLY SUBSCRIBED wider. Approaching the 100m, rider B. Lerena momentarily fumbled with his whip.
 
Rider A. Allen (FULLY SUBSCRIBED) pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on ten occasions prior to the 100m. Rider A. Allen’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days commencing midnight the 23rd of June and ending midnight the 1st of July 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and the QRIC Penalty Whip guidelines. Rider Allen was also severely reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 

Race 3: HUME DOORS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP          1200 Metres

BRUTAL ADVANCE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
KING MAL – Slow to begin.
 
JUNGLE WARRIOR – Began awkwardly.
 
SOWILO RODINA – Slow to begin.
 
TELL NO GOSSIP – Apprentice J. Williams reported his mount did not handle the track conditions.
 
CHAYSE 'N' PENNY – Began awkwardly. Rider A. Allen was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the final 2 strides of the race.
 
KENNY THE BAKER – Rider T. Brooker reported her mount did not handle the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
 
 
Race 4: HYNE TIMBER QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP                   1000 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when the saddle on SEATICUS required readjustment. Trainer of SEATICUS, R. Davidson was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR194 for presenting the gelding late in the enclosure.  

REIGN OF IVANHOE – Slow to begin.
 
SEATICUS – Raced very wide throughout.
 
ELUSIVE DOMINA – Slow to begin.
 
EMJAY STAR – Apprentice C. Vitler reported his surcingle displaced during the event. Raced wide throughout.
 
GOLDARNIE – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this race at 3.05pm, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (9).
 
 
Race 5: VANTAGE WINDOWS & DOORS BM65 HANDICAP                2050 Metres

JUNGLE JET (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider R. Wiggins reported after beginning awkwardly and despite travelling wide in stages, failed to respond to his riding from the 500m and was eased down from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke reported he was expecting a forward showing from the gelding and supported the horse accordingly. He said despite beginning awkwardly and being wide, he was disappointed with the run, however; attributed it to the track conditions. He added JUNGLE JET is a gross horse, and he would be looking to start the gelding over a similar distance on a good surface.
 
KAREEM – Rider D. Turner reported his mount was under pressure prior to the home turn, failed to respond in the home straight. He added the gelding failed to handle the track conditions.  
 
CANADIAN EXPRESS – Held up from passing the 500m until passing the 400m.
 
QUINKY DEEL – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and was subsequently transported to Scenic Rim veterinary hospital for further assessment. Trainer T. Newing was advised QUINKY DEEL will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
TALAKAI – Raced wide without cover from the 1100m.
 
MINGARDOS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Made the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly. Rider T. Brooker was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the home straight.
 
ABOVEFORTY – As apprentice J. Williams was overweight, he was replaced by rider T. Marshall. Apprentice Williams was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride and found to be overweight.
 
KATERINI – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MAGADAN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Made the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly.
 
TRAPEZE TORQUE – Rider J. Stanley reported it was not his intention to lead, however; after beginning well, he found himself in a more forward position.
 
 
Race 6: WESBEAM OPEN HANDICAP           1000 Metres
 
TWO YA GOT – Raced wide with cover throughout. Apprentice C. Vitler reported it was his intention to be forward, however; the gelding did not begin as expected from the wide gate and to avoid racing wide, he elected to find cover.
 
HEARTONI – Raced wide without cover.
 
I AM VOODOO – Began awkwardly.
 
MAGURO – Momentarily tightened approaching the 400m when CAMPAI rolled out, before shifting back in.
 
RUSSIAN SUB – Change of tactics – attempt to settle midfield. Settled in a mid to rear position. Began awkwardly.
 
PUNGO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
KAVAK – Slow to begin.
 

Race 7: EZEQUOTE WINTER PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS SERIES BM75 HANDICAP                    1200 Metres
 
The start of the race was delayed approximately 2 minutes when SHAPIN POWER became fractious and struck its head in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 4.49pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on SHAPIN POWER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st SULTRY SIREN 5c win, 5c place
2nd BOWRIDER 7c place
3rd BEEBEE DAZZLER 5c place
 
Trainer A. Plumb was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.
 
BEEBEE DAZZLER – Near the 200m, shifted out across the heels of DIRTY DANCING to obtain clear running.
 
MISSILE ONE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until shifting out across heels near the 250m.
 
 
Race 8: LANGS BUILDING SUPPLIES CLASS 2 HANDICAP               1400 Metres
 
ROCK HARD LOVE – Slow to begin.
 
SUJEED – Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
 
PALANTUS – Raced three-wide without cover during the early stages.
