Stewards accepted the reasons for the late declaration of Jockey C. Graham on THE THREE HUNDRED in Race 9.

RACE 1: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M

MISHANI HERCULES – Began awkwardly.

BUCKEYE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m. When asked to comment on the performance of BUCKEYE, Jockey Z. Lloyd could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SPLASH OF STEEL – Leaving the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of ZOUFAME whilst over-racing. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300m and was obliged to shift wider to improve. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

ZOUFAME – Began awkwardly, was bumped and lost ground.

ROYAL AIR FORCE – Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of ROYAL AIR FORCE, Jockey J. McDonald reported that his mount was inclined to hang out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative B. Killian advised that the colt would now be sent for a spell.

MISTY VEIL – Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of MISTY VEIL, Jockey J. Melham reported that in her opinion the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer C. Maher confirmed that it was his intention to send the MISTY VEIL for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


SCRUMPTIOUS – Over-raced in the early stages and passing the 700m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of MASHEAN, which shifted out whilst over racing.

COOL MOON – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

MASHEAN – Over raced in the early stages and became awkwardly placed on the heels of MISTY VEIL leaving the 1000m. Raced wide. On entering the home straight became awkwardly placed on the heels of MISTY VEIL and as a result shifted wider on the track. Laid out in the early part of the home straight.

BOTTLES OF SHELLS– Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with ZOUFAME.
Raced wide.

ALABAMA CHARM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200m and was obliged to shift wider to improve.

RACE 2: GOLD COAST TURF CLUB MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP (WEIGHTS RAISED 1KG) 1200 M

KING GUTHO – Over-raced in the middle stages and passing the 700m, had to be steadied from heels. Raced wide.

EARL OF BANTRY – Momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away. Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of EARL OF BANTRY, Jockey J. Melham stated that the gelding had to cover too much ground, which was detrimental to its finishing efforts.

MEAN APPROACH – Over-raced throughout. Raced in restricted room passing the 900m. Near the 700m, had to be steadied from heels. Continued to over-race and passing the 600m had to again steady after improving onto heels.

LETMELETGO - Raced wide. Approaching the 900m, was obliged to steady when racing in restricted room to the inside of OBEROI PRINCESS which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. Harley the rider of OBEROI PRINCESS was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

REVOLT – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 50m between ARCTIC LEGEND and ASTRA STAR, which shifted out to improve. Jockey S. Cormack the rider of ASTRA STAR was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Began awkwardly.

DECIDUOUS – Began awkwardly.

PARTY SPIRIT- Raced wide.

OBEROI PRINCESS – Blundered on jumping away and bumped with MASTER OF DISGUISE. Raced wide. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

JEMELDI - Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of JEMELDI, Jockey A. Jones reported that JEMELDI raced ungenerously for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ARCTIC LEGEND – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn until the 200m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

STRATIFIED - Raced wide. Over-raced in the middle stages and passing the 700m, had to be steadied off heels. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 400m.

THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages and passing the 700m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Held up from the 500m until the 200m.

MASTER OF DISGUISE – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.



RACE 3: THE STAR GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS THE DEBUT 2YO PLATE 1000 M

PROFIT IN PARADISE – Over-raced in the early stages. Severely hampered leaving the 600m by CHERRY BOMSHELL, which shifted out whilst being restrained.

TENGUN TOMMY – Shortly after the start bumped with SHE'S HOTSTUFF. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out over the concluding stages.

WENDELL - Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of WENDELL, Jockey A. Hyeronimus reported that the colt travelled well, however when asked for an effort failed to respond and proved disappointing. He further added that in his opinion the WENDELL may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed WENDELL to be lame on its near hindleg. Co-Trainer A. Bott was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.

DOLLY BOOM – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

LADY MOSCATO – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide.

TOORAK JEWEL – Bumped on jumping away and shifted in, momentarily unbalancing its rider.

WARREGO RIVER – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance of WAREGO RIVER, Jockey C. Williams stated that in his opinion WARREGO RIVER would derive benefit from today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have clinical signs of heat stress.

CHERRY BOMSHELL – Began awkwardly. Passing the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of WARREGO RIVER, resulting in the filly having to shift out, contacting PROFIT IN PARADISE and losing ground. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m and was obliged to shift in to improve. Passing the 150m was momentarily inconvenienced by SHE'S HOTSTUFF which shifted out marginally whilst weakening.

SHE'S HOTSTUFF – Shortly after the start bumped with TENGUN TOMMY and lost ground.

CASCADING – Near the 700m, shifted in and bumped with PROFIT IN PARADISE. Momentarily inconvenienced leaving the 600m, having its hindquarters contacted by PROFIT IN PARADISE, which was carried out. Raced wide.

After the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4 at 1:51pm.

RACE 4: QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS SUBZERO 2200 M

ENCODER – Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stable representative advised that the intention would be to continue on with the gelding’s preparation.

MANZOICE - Approaching the 200m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SOCIAL OUTCAST, which shifted out under riding. Jockey D. Moor the rider of SOCIAL OUTCAST was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. When considering he matter Stewards were mindful of Jockey J. McDonalds’ attention being drawn to the fallen rider and as a result he was unable to take corrective measures.

SNITZANOVA– Over-raced for a short distance approaching the winning post on the first occasion.

PRIVATE LEGACY – Over-raced in the middle stages. Shortly after straightening, attempted to improve into a neat run between WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA, which shifted out marginally and SUN WORSHIPPER, which shifted in marginally at the same point WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA commenced to weaken, resulting in PRIVATE LEGACY clipping the heels of WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA and falling. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey J. Collett was examined by QAS officials and stood down from the remainder of his riding engagements. Jockey J. Collett was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.

WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA - Shifted in at the start and bumped with MISS JOELENE. Shortly after straightening, shifted out marginally, having its hindquarters contacted and became awkward in its stride.

SUN WORSHIPPER – Turned its head as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Shifted in marginally on straightening, having its hindquarters contacted and became awkward in its stride.

SLY BOOTS – Raced wide.

WAPITI – Over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 300m, had to take evasive action and shift wider to avoid the fallen horse and rider.

TAMBELOA – Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that his mount over-raced in the early and middle stages and was reluctant to settle, resulting in the colt establishing a significant lead on the remainder of the field.

BROSNAN – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m, had to take evasive action and check to avoid the fallen rider and horse, resulting in BROSNAN losing significant ground.

SOCIAL OUTCAST – Laid out under pressure in the early part of the home straight.


RACE 5: TAB MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES & MARES 1300 M

The start of this event was delayed approximately 4mins owing to the fall in the previous race.

ZASZOU – Raced wide.

IT'S A KNOCKOUT - Raced wide.

SUNSET DREAMING - Raced wide.

RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – Near the 1000m, momentarily inconvenienced and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DANCE TO THE BOOM, which shifted in. Jockey A. Jones was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Continued to over-race for a short distance thereafter.

POSTER GIRL - Raced wide. Jockey M. Harley was fine $500 pursuant to AR 132(6)(b) for using his whip in an action that raises it above his shoulder.

YES LULU - Near the 1000m, commenced to over-race and had to be restrained off heels.

MISS KIM KAR – Near the 900m improved and contacted the heels of SUNSET DREAMING and blundered.

BRIGHT BLONDE – Commenced to over-race for a short distance when the placed in restricted room.

MISS CARTEL – Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied off the heels of YES LULU which was restrained as the pace of the race slackened.

RACE 6: HOWDEN MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS 1200 M

HIDDEN WEALTH –Bumped near the 600m and became unbalanced. Raced wide. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by SPYWIRE, which was carried out marginally by AXIUS, which was attempting to shift out to improve. Leaving the 200m, became awkwardly placed on heels whilst weakening. When asked to comment on the performance of HIDDEN WEALTH, Jockey T. Berry reported that in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate racing amongst other runners and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

THE INSTRUCTOR – Shortly after jumping away became awkward in its stride, shifting in, contacting PRE EMINENCE.

FAR TOO EASY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed FAR TOO EASY to be displaying clinical signs of severe heat stress. Trainer D. McColm was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again. Trainer D. McColm advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

PAYLINE – Shortly after jumping away became awkwardly placed on the heels of THE INSTRUCTOR. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight approaching the 200m raced in restricted room before passing the 150m, shifted in to improve into clear running.

SPYWIRE – Over raced near the 900m whilst racing in restricted room. Again, raced in restricted room approaching the 600m.

ZEALOUSLY– Raced wide.

GIN A TONIC – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. When asked to comment on the performance of GIN A TONIC, Jockey B. Melham reported that after being caught wide, his mount was obliged to do extra work, and when asked for an effort, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Following today’s disappointing performance, Trainer B. Laming was advised that GIN A TONIC would now be required to officially trial prior to racing again.

PRE EMINENCE – Bumped shortly after the start.

AXIUS – Over-raced in the middle stages. Approaching the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of FAR TOO EASY when the pace of the race slackened. Laid out rounding the turn from the 600m. Continued to over-race for a short distance thereafter


SCAMPI – Over-raced in the middle stages.


RACE 7: TAB MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC 1200 M

ZIP LOCK – Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and passing the 250m, shifted out abruptly making heavy contact with KNIGHTSBRIDGE.

TORNADO VALLEY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 500m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of DOUBLE COOL. Momentarily inconvenienced when racing in restricted room passing the 300m between ITCHINTOGO and DOUBLE COOL which shifted out before being corrected.

ITCHINTOGO – Began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with MYSTICAL.

UNIT FIVE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in passing the 300m to obtain clear running.

KNIGHTSBRIDGE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 250m, was contacted, hampered and carried wider.

SHIKI – Over-raced in the middle stages. Severely hampered and carried out on entering the home straight by KNIGHTSBRIDGE which was carried out by ZIP LOCK, which shifted out in an attempt to improve. Hampered and carried wider passing the 250m, by KNIGHTSBRIDGE which was carried out by ZIP LOCK which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. Harley the rider of ZIP LOCK was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Carried wider passing the 200m by KNIGHTSBRIDGE, which shifted out under pressure.

MYSTICAL – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with ITCHINTOGO, shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with LEAVES OF LORIEN.

MAGRITTE – Began very awkwardly, shifted in and was then restrained to obtain a position. Over-raced in the middle stages.

TIGRONI – Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ITCHINTOGO, which shifted in to take up a position closer to the rail. Jockey R. Maloney the rider of ITCHINTOGO was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

LEAVES OF LORIEN– Bumped heavily on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced wide. Passing the 1100m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels

INHABIT – Began awkwardly. Passing the 800m, shifted out whilst over-racing. Raced wide. Lost its off-hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps. Following INHABIT’s disappointing performance, Trainer M. Hickmott was advised that the filly would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.

DOUBLE COOL – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1000m.


RACE 8: GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS 1400 M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey D. Moor the rider of 4th placed CASH THE PARTY viewed the official video footage and after having done so elected not to lodge an objection.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey T. Berry the rider of the second placed NINJA against first placed TORQUE TO BE SURE (B. Melham), alleging interference over the final 200m. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, were of the opinion that leaving the 200m, TORQUE TO BE SURE commenced to shift out under riding, making contact with NINJA approaching the 100m. Over the final 100m, TORQUE TO BE SURE continued to shift out, carrying NINJA wider on the track until approaching the finish. When considering the interference suffered to NINJA, the ¾ length margin between 2nd and 1st and how both runners finished the race off, Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred, TORQUE TO BE SURE would have finished ahead of NINJA at the conclusion of the event and therefore dismissed the protest of 2nd vs 1st, and declared correct weight on the judges numbers.

NINJA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide. Passing the 150m, was contacted and carried wider on the track and inside the final 100m, was obliged to shift wider when carried out by TORQUE TO BE SURE.

O' OLE – When questioned regarding the performance of O’ OLE, Jockey E. Brown reported that in his opinion O’ OLE may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer B. Baker confirmed that the filly would be sent for a spell.

DAMIEN - Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in in an attempt to improve.

TORQUE TO BE SURE – Jockey B. Melham was fined $1000 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

SPANISH TREASURE – Approaching the 1000m commenced to over-race when racing in restricted room. Raced wide.

BENEVAC – Commenced to over-race whilst being restrained in the early stages and as a result raced fiercely with its head in the air in the early stages for a number of strides.

CELLARMASTER (NZ)– Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance.

JIMMY'S BROTHER – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted MEMO.

MEMO – Hampered on jumping away. Over-race in the middle stages. Passing the 150m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of TORQUE TO BE SURE which shifted out under riding, Jockey B. Melham the rider of TORQUE TO BE SURE was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding and advised to stop and straighten his mounts when shifting ground in future.

RECUPERATO – Raced wide.

HI BARBIE– Jumped away awkwardly. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 1000m by RECUPERATO which shifted in before being corrected.

ADORABLE THOUGHT – Slow to begin. Shortly after straightening raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of DAMIEN which shifted in for a number of strides before being corrected.

CRASH THE PARTY – Was obliged to alter course over the final 50m to avoid the heels of NINJA, which was carried out by TORQUE TO BE SURE, which shifted out under riding.

NORTY FORTY – Slow to begin.

RACE 9: MAGIC MILLIONS CUP 1400 M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, T. Gollan the trainer of 2nd place BOOMTOWN BOSS viewed the official video footage and after having done so elected not to lodge an objection.

YELLOW BRICK – When asked to comment on the performance od YELLOW BRICK, Jockey E. Brown reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated the quick back up.

NEED SOME LUCK– Raced in restricted room passing the 1100m to the inside of YELLOW BRICK which was carried in by MAGNATEAR which shifted in and away from TUFF TU MUS. Jockey T. Brooker the rider of TUFF TU MUS was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Raced wide. Inconvenienced approaching the 200m by MERIDIUS which became awkward in its stride and shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider. When asked to comment on the performance of NEED SOME LUCK, Jockey T. Berry reported that the gelding travelled well, however did not quicken as anticipated when placed under pressure in the home straight and added that he was of the opinion that NEED SOME LUCK would appreciate bigger tracks. A post -race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DEPTH OF CHARACTER – Slow to begin. Held up on entry to the home straight and was unable to secure clear running until the final 50m.

WEST OF AFRICA – Slow to begin. Held up from the 200m and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line.

KING OF ROSEAU – Inconvenienced approaching the 200m by MERIDIUS, which became awkward in its stride and shifted out abruptly before being corrected

COOL JAKEY – Approaching the 200m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THE THREE HUNDRED, which shifted in marginally and GETAFIX which was carried out by RUN HARRY RUN. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


MAGNATEAR – Passing the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TUFF TU MUS which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey T. Brooker the rider of TUFF TU MUS was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

MERIDIUS – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps.

TUFF TU MUS – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed severe heat stress. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again. Trainer D. Vandyke advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

GETAFIX – Held up for clear running for the entirety of the home straight.

BOOMTOWN BOSS – Momentarily inconvenienced, having its hindquarters contacted leaving the 200m.

RACE 10: MAGIC MILLIONS CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 M

Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to enquire into whether ZOUBABY was afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from Jockey D. Moor and the official starter, Stewards concluded that ZOUBABY became fractious and reared on its own accord, therefore was declared a starter.

FLEETWOOD – Raced wide. Obliged to alter course approaching the 100m to improve into clear running.

TALTARNI FIELDS – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 150m by MISS PERSONALITY, which shifted in under pressure.

JOHN RAMBO – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

SILENTSAR – When asked to comment on the performance of SILENTSAR, Jockey T. Clark reported that the gelding races best when able to dictate its own terms in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

HEROIC MISS - Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Rodd reported at scale that he became concerned with the action of the mare and as a result elected not to place HEROIC MISS under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

BINE – Raced wide.

MISS PERSONALITY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps.

ZOUBABY – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Raced wide.

CASH -Slow to begin and was them hampered when SILENTSAR shifted out.

DELEXO – Blundered on jumping away.
