As Jockey J. Bayliss had transport difficulties, he was replaced in Race 1. on MR BETTERMAN by Jockey A. Keeley.
Race 1 - 11:11 GOLD STAKING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800 Metres
IRON BULL – Slow to begin.
LAURIE'S QUILL – Raced wide throughout.
BOBBY'S MY MATE – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 400m, bumped on the hindquarters by HELLUVA ROAD and became unbalanced. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey B. Thornton reported that after beginning awkwardly from the wide barrier, he elected to settle further back to obtain a position closer to the rail.
BARTLE FRERE – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
BOSCATINE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced in restricted room at the 400m and bumped with RAFA. Apprentice M. Apel could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance other than the fact that the gelding was inclined to over race in the middle stages. Trainer A. Chau was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for the poor performance.
I SAY I SAY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide until the 900m. Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RAFA – At the 400m, steadied from the heels of BARTLE FRERE which laid in under pressure. Jockey B. Thompson could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer’s representative was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for the poor performance.
BILLS ANGEL – Underwent a pre race veterinary inspection after becoming fractious on arrival at the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MR BETTERMAN – Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room to the inside of I SAY I SAY (T. Marshall) which was racing tight. Jockey T. Marshall was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Near the 200m, became momentarily awkward at the heels of I SAY I SAY which laid out.
FIVE OF US – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.
HELLUVA ROAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 400m, bumped with BOBBY’S MY MATE.
SHE LOVES ME – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Jockey G. Goomany’s pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 12 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey Goomany’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days commencing at midnight the 5th of September 2026 and concluding at midnight the 16th of September 2026.
ACTS ALONE – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
MISS FIRESTAR – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
Race 2 - ALLCOIN MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres
PIERATA'S SPIRIT – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PIETARI. Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PIETARI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced for an extended period and was cleared to start. Hampered between runners on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
GANCEDO – Began awkwardly and was bumped.
KASUMI – Began awkwardly.
MISHANI SENORITA – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3 - DISCOVER BENOWA GARDENS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
BOOM CHIKA WOW – Slow to begin, then tightened between runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 50m, raced in restricted room and went to the line without being fully tested.
BOUND FOR MOSCOW – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running leaving the 200m, and near the 150m improved onto the heels of the weakening SWEET REBELLION and was checked. Unable to obtain clear running from that point onwards and went to the line without being fully tested.
THUNDER EMPIRE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
SWEET REBELLION – When asked to comment, apprentice B. Youngberry stated that her mount was inclined to race keenly in the early stages, however was disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SUMMER STUNNER – Trainer G. Doughty was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR206(1) for the late gear application of pre race ear muffs. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly throughout.
MISHANI CABELLO – Slow to begin.
ZEDDICH – Raced wide throughout. Aproaching the 50m raced in restricted room and was steadied, and went to the line without being fully tested.
STORM PETAL – Change of tactics; to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Settled in a mid to rear position. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Near the 700m, got its head up whilst being restrained. Laid in under pressure leaving the 200m and approaching the 150m, improved onto the heels of MISHANI CABELLO, checked and shifted out. Jockey B. Wheeler reported his mount raced very greenly throughout.
Race 4 - ALLTRA SMARTCHAIN SOLUTIONS OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
DEEP RESPECT – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
THINKHARDANDFAST – Slow to begin.
COUNT NICHOLAS – When asked to comment, apprentice B. Youngberry reported that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer A. Campton advised that it is the intention to send the gelding for a freshen up prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
LADY SHOTGUN – Slow to begin.
Race 5 - DRIVE THE FUTURE WITH BYD CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
ROGUERY – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1200m.
OLD SONG – Slow to begin.
HE'S A SAINT (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Baker reported her mount was inclined to lay in throughout, particularly in the middle stages when her mount was over racing.
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Leaving the 1200m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when HE’S A SAINT laid in. Continued to race ungenerously with its head up until the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.
FLASH PRINCE – Improved onto heels approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
CONTRERAS – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 150m, and then again was unable to obtain clear running over the final 50m and went to the line without being fully tested.
Race 6 - AUSTRALIA CHINA BUSINESS COUNCIL QLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
OUTAKANDY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
BEREZKA – Began awkwardly and bumped OUR HUNTRESS.
CHILLIWACK – Leaving the 1000m, whilst racing keenly, had to be steadied from heels. Raced wide in the early stages.
MR BUBBALUSKI – Began awkwardly and bumped. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
BATTLE OF VIENNA – Raced wide throughout.
OUR HUNTRESS (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
BUTTERFLY STYLE – Slow to begin.
SUPIDO'S CHOICE – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
MAQUISA – Began awkwardly and bumped MR BUBBALUSKI. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 200m.
Race 7 -GOLD COAST CHINATOWN YEAR OF THE HORSE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
BUCKEYE – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice A. McColm reported that gelding travelled well throughout, however was flat in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CHATTERLEY – Improved onto heels near the 700m and shifted out. Improved onto heels near the 400m, steadied and shifted out. Unable to obtain clear running from the entrance of the home straight until the 200m. Laid in over the final 150m.
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR – Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
AUTUMNGIRL – Raced wide throughout.
DIVINE JUSTICE – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 200m.
VERONA AFFAIR – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m, shifted in and bumped the inside running rail.
WILDSPITZE – Raced wide throughout.
READY TO DRINK – Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 150m.
Race 8 - TAB CLASS 1 PLATE 2200 Metres
EXPLOSIVE POWER (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
MORE YOU THINK – Jockey B. Thornton reported that his mount was inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight and wasn’t suited to today’s track conditions.
SIR ZINO (NZ) – Near the 2050m, steadied when racing in restricted room between MAHUIKA MAROI and NUKATABE (A. McColm) which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice A. McColm was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
TRIPLE TIME – Slow into stride.
MAHUIKA MAROI (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
RAINBOW GLITTER – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Weakened from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. Trainer C. Zintilis was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), RAINBOW GLITTER shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.
NUKATABE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
