GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 7 – KEEP IT LOKI – F. Larson +0.5kg (55kg)
Race 8 – SECRET ROSE – D. Peisley +0.5kg (56.5kg)
 
Due to a misunderstanding, rider D. Peisley was dually engaged in race 8 and was subsequently replaced by rider B. El-Issa on PECCAVI.
 
 
Race 1 - VILLAGE ROADSHOW THEME PARKS MAIDEN PLATE 2224M
 
KALAMIA KING – Near the 1900m, steadied and carried in towards the heels of SHIP HAPPENS by HELLUVA ROAD (A. McColm), which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice A. McColm was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.

MOANA NUI (NZ) – Crowded for room shortly after the start. Laid out near the 500m.
 
MR BETTERMAN – Raced keenly whilst being restrained early. Hampered near the 500m and carried wider. Approaching the 300m was bumped.
 
SHIP HAPPENS – Laid out rounding the first turn near the 1800m.
 
DESERT ANGEL – Began awkwardly and bumped HELLUVA ROAD.
 
DISGRUNTLED – Near the 500m, improved onto the heels of JUST BEAUTY, which was carried out by MOANA NUI, which laid out. As a result, MR BETTERMAN was hampered and carried wider. FIVE OF US, which was racing to the outside JUST BEAUTY was also carried wider. Approaching the 300m, shifted out and bumped MR BETTERMAN. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIVE OF US – Raced keenly whilst being restrained early. Carried wider near the 500m.
 
HELLUVA ROAD – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover from the 1800m until approaching the 1400m.
 
JUST BEAUTY – Raced wide from the 1200m. Near the 500m, raced in restricted room when carried out by MOANA NUI.
 
MISS FIRESTAR – When questioned regarding his tactics from the 1000m, rider J. Taylor explained he had no specific instructions, however, it was his intention to be in a forward position, so he allowed his mount stride from the 1000m. He added the mare doesn’t have a sprint and hoped if he allowed his mount to improve from that point, it might be more competitive in the finish.


Race 2 - SEA WORLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400M
 
WASAI – Laid out rounding the home turn.

MAHMOA (NZ) – Raced in restricted room near the 1100m.
 
AGADOO – Laid in from the 200m and near the 150m, momentarily inconvenienced CAUTIONARY TAIL.
 
EDGE OF INFINITY – Change of tactics; attempt to be closer from the good gate. Settled behind the lead.
 
RULER'S HEART – Began awkwardly.
 
SILENT ANSWER – Raced in restricted room near the 1100m.
 
STYLISH EDITION – Near the 1100m, shifted out to avoid the heels of CAUTIONARY TAIL.

KARMA COMET – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice S. Champkin pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, 14 in totality. Apprentice Champkin’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 12th September 2026 and to expire midnight 22nd September 2026. Apprentice Champkin was also severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(c) for using her whip when out of contention.
 
CAUTIONARY TAIL – Near the 150m, inconvenienced and taken in by AGADOO (R. Wiggins), which laid in under riding. Rider R. Wiggins was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider D. Turner advised from the barrier, his instructions were to settle in a mid to forward position and to not be caught wide. He added that with not much speed mapped in the race and from the awkward gate, he was obliged to go forward.


Race 3 - WARNER BROS MOVIE WORLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1800M
 
HE'S A SAINT (NZ) – Late withdrawal at 1:52pm on veterinary advice after being kicked in the tie-up stalls. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HE’S A SAINT be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply;
 
1st SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – 0c the win, 2c the place
2nd ALL ABOUT ARTIE – 2c the place
3rd DRAW ATTENTION – 1c the place
 
Stable for trainer S. Morrisey was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing or trialling.
 
SEALORD (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Near the 1600m, checked when tightened.
 
CRYPTO MAGIC – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TULONG – Change of tactics; attempt to lead from inside gate. Settled behind the lead. Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ALL ABOUT ARTIE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SEALORD. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider J. Franklin explained when caught wide early, he was of the view he had to press on to avoid covering extra ground, which resulted in his mount taking the lead.
 
DRAW ATTENTION          – Improved onto heels leaving the 1500m and shifted in. Near the 800m, bumped with FIERCE LUVA when attempting to shift out and then steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of AMELIORATION. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
EXPLOSIVE POWER (NZ) – Near the 250m, checked when tightened between BILLS ANGEL (B. Thornton), which shifted in slightly and FIERCE LUVA (B. Wheeler), which shifted out slightly and was then taken out by TULONG, which laid out. Both rider B. Thornton and rider B. Wheeler were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
FIERCE LUVA – Whilst racing keenly leaving the 1500m, improved onto heels and shifted out. Near the 800m, bumped with DRAW ATTENTION, which attempted to shift out to improve.
 
AMELIORATION – Near the 150m, carried out and hampered by SHEDRIVESABENTLEY (A. McColm), which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice A. McColm was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Began awkwardly. Near the 1600m, raced in restricted room and became unbalanced.
 
Rider A. Thompson (CRYPTO MAGIC) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 1600m, when racing close to the heels of DRAW ATTENTION, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SEALORD, resulting in that runner being tightened onto SHEDRIVESABENTLEY, which became unbalanced and SEALORD being checked. Rider Thompson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 13th September 2026 and to expire midnight 25th September 2026. When considering penalty, account was taken of the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
 
 
Race 4 - TOPGOLF OPEN HANDICAP 1000M

KRAKARIB – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the mounting enclosure gate. Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding his tactics early, apprentice A. McColm advised his instructions were to lead and not restrain the gelding as it has a breathing issue. He added in hindsight, he shouldn’t have pressured the gelding in the middles stages and allowed MAXIMUM OUTPUT to lead the event, in an endeavour to give KRAKARIB the chance to finish the race off better.
 
SHAKO – Laid out and away from BRING ME KASH approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
BRING ME KASH – Laid out from the 700m until the 300m.


Race 5 - WET’N’WILD BM58 HANDICAP 1000M
 
EAGLE'S FIRE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

IL FRATELLO (NZ) – Slow into stride. Raced in restricted room near the 400m to the inside of SIGLO DE ORO.
 
SIGLO DE ORO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Rider B. Wheeler reported the gelding began well from a good gate and settled more forward than expected, adding SIGLO DE ORO had been freshened up.
 
FUNHOUSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HI TIAGO – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 500m awkwardly placed on heels and was steadied. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
KVAS – Began awkwardly.
 
SHAPIN POWER – Change of tactics; more forward. Settled behind the speed. Near the 700m, steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of SIGLO DE ORO. Put in an awkward stride leaving the 200m and was eased down from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
TALK THE TORQUE – Raced wide throughout.
 
QUEIN STEP – Raced wide throughout.
 
MA'S EPIC – Had its tongue tie refitted behind the barriers. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.


Race 6 - PARADISE COUNTRY BM70 HANDICAP 1200M
 
SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Began awkwardly.
 
CERTIFIED COPY – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUMENS LENNY – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BRECHEN – Bumped on jumping. Cast its off-fore plate in running.


Race 7 - AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400M
 
ARTFUL PERSUASION – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 800m, improved onto heels and was steadied. Rider J. Franklin reported his mount traveled well, but didn’t let down when placed under pressure. He added the gelding raced keenly with blinkers on for the first time. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
PROCHESTER (NZ) – Slow to begin. Near the 800m, improved onto the heels of ARTFUL PERSUASION and steadied.
 
CHICAGO KING – Blundered at the start.
 
DREAM THINKER – Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1000m, improved onto the heels of WARNA and steadied. Raced wide from the 800m.

HEY DAISY – Began awkwardly.
 
TOO DARN FINESSE – Raced keen early and near the 1200m, steadied from the heels of MELTDOWN (D. Turner), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider D. Turner was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
KEEP IT LOKI – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 1100m, improved onto heels and steadied. Leaving the 800m, improved onto heels, steadied and shifted out. Eased down from the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrhythmia. Co-Trainer M. Sears was advised KEEP IT LOKI would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of an ECG prior to a 1000m gallop with a cardiac auscultation performed by a veterinarian within 15 minutes of the gallop. Co-Trainer M. Sears advised it is the intention to send the gelding for a spell.


Race 8 - THE MICHAEL PELLING 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1400M

MONGOLIAN SPRING (NZ) – Apprentice M. Apel dropped her whip approaching the 200m. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m.
 
HANG OUT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
SIR DON – Laid in shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YES DONALD YES – Began awkwardly.
 
BIRMINGHAM – Began awkwardly.
 
HOMERIC – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Leaving the 100m, bumped by RED SAMOVAR and taken across the heels of PECCAVI. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider R. Stewart advised it has always been the intention to settle in a forward position, however the gelding hasn’t begun well and has settled further back at its previous starts. He added from the inside gate today, after beginning reasonably well, he was positive on the gelding, which took up a more forward position.
 
OUT OF LUCK – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
LADY WINDERMERE – Rider J. Franklin advised after beginning well from the wide barrier, he elected to press forward and take the lead.
 
PECCAVI – Change of tactics; attempt to be closer from the good gate. Slow into stride. Settled in a midfield position.
 
RED SAMOVAR – Improved onto the heels of SECRET ROSE near the 450m and was steadied. Approaching the 100m, steadied when tightened for room between MONGOLIAN SPRING and HOMERIC, both of which shifted ground. Leaving the 100m, taken out and bumped with HOMERIC when MONGOLIAN SPRING (M. Apel) shifted out when not clear. Apprentice M. Apel was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
