WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SAND (GOOD 3)

Race 1: Graham Hughes BM 55 Handicap- 1517 metres

WAY UP THERE- Due to no other available rider, Jockey A. Coome was permitted to ride 1 kilogram overweight.

CLASPED- Contact with another runner at the start.

LOOKSLIKERAIN- Contact with another runner at the start.

CURLEW- App. M McNelis was permitted to rider ½ a kilogram overweight due to no other available riders. App. McNelis was fined $100 for failing to claim any of his allowance. AR 92(12)

INFINITE MISS- Stood flat-footed and lost ground at the start. Trainer D Gardiner was advised that the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate. Mr Gardiner indicate the horse would now be spelled.

LUCKY DIPPER- Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to have swelling in its near fore fetlock. A veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to its next start.

GUNDY STORM- Rider reported that his mount resented the kickback in the middle stages and shifted wider on the track to avoid it.

Race 2: Bob Lisle BM 60 Handicap- 850 metres

FRAHA- Saddle shifted to the offside near the 600 metres. Shifted out near the 250 metres, took another runner wider.

ELIAZER- Taken wider near the 250 metres.

Race 3: Butler & Sons Maiden Plate- 850 metres

PURE CLASS- Lost off hind plate prior to entry to the enclosure. On jumping, commenced to buck and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer J Pointon advised that the mare would be required to trial over at least 800 metres in a raceday saddle.

MINTO’S PRINCESS- Rider reported that from near the 200 metres commenced to lay in and was unable to ridden out.

OUR GIRL CHARLOTTE- App M McNelis was only able to claim ½ kg of his claim and not to his riding weight. He was fined a further $100 for this offence. Stewards took into account he was returning to riding after a period of time off. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: Lisa Lowe Open Handicap - 1000 metres

BJORN- Little slow to begin.

FINAL CHAPTER- Following its engagement at Rockhampton on Friday 18th, where it placed 3rd in a Class 4 over 1300 metres beaten 2.7 len, it underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Public announcements were made to this effect. Trainer C Garland indicated the gelding may now be spelled.

Race 5: Dennis Schultz BM 65 Handicap- 1194 metres

GO DIGGER- Began awkwardly. Rider reported that from the 1000 metres the gelding resented the kickback and lost ground from the 850 metres where it was shifted wider on the track. Rider stated that once able to do so, the horse made up ground.

DUAN THEO- Slow to begin.

SPOOKY MOO- When App M McNelis was not fit to fulfil his engagement and no other riders available to take the ride, Stewards declared the mare a late scratching at 3.40pm. No deductions were required. App McNelis will be required to supply a medical prior to his next riding engagements.
