GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following weight variations for this meeting- Race 2 and Race 4- Jky N Fazackerley +.5kg. The start of Race 1 was delayed allowing for remedial work to be undertaken between the 700m and the 500m point. Due to significant track deterioration after the running of race 1, between the 700 and the 500m point Stewards downgraded the Track rating to a Good 4. Stewards further delayed the start of race 1 due to the sprinkler system coming on in the 1000m chute. Stewards inspected the area of concern and were of the opinion the area was safe and proceeded with the race meeting. Stewards raised concerns again with the Club regarding the placement of sponsorship flags which were placed approximately a short distance from the inside rail. After consultation with the Club, the flags were repositioned inside the sand track area with consideration being given to relocating them for future meetings.

Jky Fazackerley pleaded not guilty. After consideration of further submissions by Jky Fazackerley, he was found guilty of the charge. In determining penalty, Stewards considered the QRIC Careless Riding template and that he had incurred a recent suspension at Ipswich on 17/4/2026. Jky Fazackerley’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days commencing on the 7/5/2026 up to and including 15/5/2026 allowing him the freedom to return on the 16/5/2026. Jky Fazackerley was advised of his right to a review of the decision. Laid in while racing in the home straight. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr J Bellamy regarding the performance of the horse.
