GENERAL
Stewards accepted the reasons for all late rider declarations.
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 5. C Whiteley +.50kg (55.5kg)


RACE 1: PECO TRADING / R D O EQUIPMENT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

FINAL COMMAND – Disappointed for a run leaving the 150m to the inside of BLUE’S CHOICE which rolled in slightly, before shifting out near the 50m.

THE HINDUSTAN (NZ) – Passing the 100m was awkwardly placed on the heels of JELAILA when laying in under pressure.

DRACARIAN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

PRESSURE SWITCH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ZAVY'S SUN – Fractious in barriers as start was affected. Raced ungenerously with head up for a short distance passing the 800m. Raced wide without cover for the majority.

I AM PIETRA – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.

MISHPAT – Rider, Apprentice V Soulsby reported her mount had a tendency to hang throughout the event.

MOVER AND SHAKER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

RUPEEZY – Held up for a short distance near the 150m before shifting in to obtain clear racing room.

RACE 2: BOGGABILLA TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB / AMBROSE HAULAGE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 M

TORVECCHIO – Shifted in on jumping bumping heavily with ELEGANT LUCY. Raced keen in the early stages. Checked near the 50m when close to the heels of EGYPTIANS REWARD (App R O’Connell) which shifted out under riding. Rider App R O’ Connell pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a), the particulars being that near the 50m App R O’Connell made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting into the line of TORVECCHIO who had to check and as a result lost its rightful running. App O’Connell had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight Saturday 25 July and concluding Tuesday 4 August, eligible to resume Wednesday 5 August 2026. In issuing penalty. O’Connell was advised of his rights of appeal.


AUTOFICTION – Commenced to yield ground from the 1100m and finished tailed off. App V Soulsby reported when her mount started to lose ground, she placed the gelding under pressure however when AUTOFICTION failed to respond she elected not to pressure the gelding further. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer R Hay advised it would be his intention to retire the gelding, nonetheless, Mr. Hay was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

INTENSE STEEL - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the 2nd occasion. As this was the second such bleeding attack, under the provisions of AR79(6) Trainer J Taylor was advised that the gelding would now incur a lifetime ban from racing.

EGYPITIAN'S REWARD – Shifted out on jumping bumping ELEGANT LUCY.

INVISIBLE TARGET – Bumped with ELEGANT LUCY upon entering the home straight.

KHANT FAIL (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

ELEGANT LUCY – Lost ground on jumping when bumped heavily between runners. Bumped with INVISABLE TARGET upon entering the home straight. Shifted in abruptly passing the 50m.

HI FRANK – Near the 900m was eased off heels when racing keen.

RACE 3: MORELLA AG / GOONDIWINDI COTTON BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M

STRATIFIED – Began awkwardly and bumped.

DUSAN – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

UNCLE RUSS – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.

ASTIN LANE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SHUT EYE (NZ) – Tightened for room and lost ground on jumping when STRATFIELD and ASTIN LANE shifted ground on jumping.

KOGA NINJA – Passing the 150m was held up when disappointed for a narrow run between DUSAN and SUTHERLAND when both runners shifted ground marginally, before shifting out near the 100m.

HOREB – Commenced to lose ground from the 600m and finished tailed off. Rider, App V Souslby reported the mare jumped well and travelled comfortably early, however near the 600m started to lose ground despite her urges and proved disappointing. Trainer S McEwan reported to Stewards that this was her first start with HOREB and coming off a spell and she believes that the mare would derive significant fitness benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer S McEwan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for being uncompetitive.

RACE 4: LOWES PETROLEUM / MCGREGOR GOURLAY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400 M

ARAMINTA – Bumped with HARLEQUIN FIELD upon entering the home straight.

TOKYO BANDIT - Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain a position with cover closer to the inside running rail.
HARLEQUIN FIELD - Raced wide without cover. Bumped with ARAMITA upon entering the home straight. Approaching the 100m raced in restricted room when racing to the inside of ARAMINTA before being bumped by ROWDASH which had shifted out and away from USUAL LIMITS. Was then steadied when close to the heels of ARAMINTA (App R O’Connell) when that runner was shifting ground under pressure. App R O’Connell was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident.

USUAL LIMITS – Passing the 1000m shifted out across the heels of HOLLER DASH (App A McColm) which shifted in when not fully clear. App A McColm was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

CAUSEWAYS – Eased when improved onto heels passing the 900m when the pace of the race slackened.

BUGDEN – Raced keen in the early stages.

ROWDASH - Eased when improved onto heels passing the 900m when the pace of the race slackened. Approaching the 100m shifted out and away from USUAL LIMITS bumping with HARLEQUIN FIELD, then raced in restricted room between HARLEQUIN FIELD and USUAL LIMITS (App B Baker) which had shifted out when placed under pressure. App Baker was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident. Continued to race in restricted room until being carried in close to the heels of USUAL LIMITS and was steadied.


RACE 5: CARRINGTON COTTON BOGGABILLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M

HASTEN DELIGHT – Rider App V Soulsby reported that her mount raced flat and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer J Methven advised Stewards that the gelding would most likely be retired from racing. After the meeting had concluded, on review of the films, Stewards identified that App V Soulsby may have been in breach of the rules surrounding her whip use within this race. It was decided to give Ms. Soulsby the opportunity to view the films before inquiring into her whip use, therefore Stewards elected to adjourn an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed.

GRINZINGER KNIGHT – Began awkwardly. Held up for a short distance passing the 150m before shifting out and bumping with WARILLA GORILLA.

WARILLA GORILLA – Bumped with GRINZINGER passing the 150m.

UNDER THE LIMIT – Approaching the 100m bumped with ARIAT and became momentarily unbalanced.

BETTER TOMORROW – Slow to begin. Tailed off in the straight. Rider App B Baker reported after being slow away was obliged to race further back than anticipated which is not the gelding’s normal racing pattern, and when she placed the gelding under pressure proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

CONNEWARE – Slow to begin.

ARIAT – Bumped with UNDER THE LIMIT approaching the 100m. Laid in over the concluding stages.
