Race 1: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE ITC QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M
The start of this race was delayed when BOARD DIRECTOR proved difficult to load.
BOARD DIRECTOR – Proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's barrier manners.
JETINTOIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
JOBIWOOD – B. El-Issa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of SILIQUA, which was taken in tightening the running of WITCHES LUCK, which had to be checked and lost its position. B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 17 January and expire at midnight on Wednesday 28 January 2015.
MACSPICK – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer B. Park was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate before the horse is permitted to race again.
SILIQUA – Taken in on to another runner near the 800m.
ALEXSTRASZA – Took charge of its rider during the preliminary, declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 11.51 am. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ALEXSTRASZA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 11.51 am:
13 cents in the dollar for the Win #6
12 cents in the dollar for place of winner #6
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #4
10 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
EQUAL RULER – Hung out rounding the home turn, shifting wider on the track, enabling JOBIWOOD to improve to its inside.
WITCHES LUCK – Tightened for room, had to be checked and lost its rightful near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained a puncture wound to the medial aspect of the off hind cannon.
Race 2: BROTHERS JUNIORS RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
EMMA'S POCKET – Slow into stride. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 500m and was then forced wider again when DEAR HILLARY simultaneously shifted out to improve, forcing that runner wider. Bumped approaching the winning post.
LEGS UNBARRED – Slow into stride.
MISTRESS OF FIRE – Rider dropped his whip leaving the 200m.
BELLARIAT – Shifted out approaching the winning post and bumped another runner.
MISTRESS MONICA – Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer F. Adams stated that he was disappointed with the filly's performance today and was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than that the filly may be better suited to a longer distance than that of today's race. Rider R. Vigar stated that it was customary for the horse to be a slow beginner, however failed to run on as expected when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MISS PURLESS – Began awkwardly.
CASINO MOON – Raced wide in the early stages.
Following this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
Race 3: KARALEE TWIN RIVERS SENIORS RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
MEROVECH – Taken inwards by another runner a short distance after the start. Forced wider near the 1000m.
ROYAL ROULETTE – Bumped at the start. Steadied to avoid heels near the 1000m, forced another runner wider.
BROOKTON ICE – Bumped heavily at the start, then tightened for room a short distance later.
LAREBIL – Slow to begin.
HE'S DIFFERENT – Began awkwardly, shifted in making contact with ROYAL ROULETTE, became unbalanced, then shifted out making heavy contact with BROOKTON ICE and as a result was tightened for room a short distance later.
SLALOM – Blundered on jumping away. Shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running leaving the 700m and was forced extremely wide rounding the home turn.
Race 4: SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND DIVISION OPEN H’CAP – 1200M
Due to a clerical error, A. Taylor was advertised as the rider of RUN ROYAL RUN when A. Collett had been engaged as the rider of that horse.
Correct weight was delayed to allow L. Rolls (NICKIERA) and trainer K. Kemp and rider A. Fancourt (TOUGH TAIMZ), 2nd and 3rd placegetters respectively, to view the stewards' patrol footage to ascertain whether they had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner STORM CRAZY. After viewing the videos, both riders and Mr Kemp declined to lodge objections and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.
RUN ROYAL RUN – As the gelding was having its first start from a lengthy spell, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air.
TOUGH TAIMZ – Inconvenienced in the home straight. Had to be steadied from heels when inclined to lay in and another runner shifted out slightly near the 300m.
STORM CRAZY – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight, inconveniencing TOUGH TAIMZ. R. Fradd was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 5: IPSWICH FAVOURITE CLUB THE JETS CLASS 3 PLATE – 2150M
SUPERCOACH – Began awkwardly.
SAN CLEMENTE – Had to be checked near the 1900m when tightened for room when racing to the inside of UNSPOKEN (B. El-Issa), which when overracing shifted in crowding the running of SAN CLEMENT before improving forward and assuming the lead. B. El-Issa was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
STAR FORMATION – Slow to begin.
SPORT OF KINGS – Slow to begin.
JETTING TO LONDON – Slow to begin. Performed below expectations. Rider R. Fradd reported that the horse had made an abnormal respiratory noise over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had a slower than normal recovery rate. Trainer R. Lipp will be advised that he must furnish the results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse's next start.
PRETTY PICTURE – Slow to begin.
Race 6: IPSWICH DIGGERS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M
GOLFING – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
JOLIE MADELEINE – Had to be steadied near the 700m when tightened for room by SANSHO DAYU (A. Taylor). A. Taylor was advised to exercise more care.
ELISARO – B. El-Issa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when improving forward when insufficiently clear of JOLIE MADELEINE, which was taken in, placing SLEEP TIGHT in restricted room, which as a result had to be restrained and shifted in tightening the running of TITANOMAGNETITE, which had to be restrained and lost its position. B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 17 January and expire at midnight on Wednesday 28 January 2015, with the term of suspension to be served concurrently with the term of suspension imposed in Race 1.
DANORO LAD – Threw its head in the air at the start and was then further inconvenienced by SLEEP TIGHT, which shifted in, resulting in DANORO LAD losing ground.
NADOR – Lost its off fore plate in running.
SANSHO DAYU – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress and the thumps.
JERALY – Tightened for room near the 800m by ELISARO (B. El-Issa), which shifted in. B. El-Issa was reprimanded.
Race 7: BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB IPSWICH CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M
FASTNET HEART – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slower than normal post-race recovery.
MONSIEUR HUGHES – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
FELTON PHANTOM – Raced three wide throughout.
ROMAN SECRET – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey M. Dracos was advised to keep his mounts straight when under pressure.
Race 8: SUN PRODUCE VALLEYS RUGBY LEAGUE RATINGS BAND 0-62 H’CAP – 1666M
REGAL CONSERVE – Bumped on hind quarters near the 300m.
LEPRECHAUN LAD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Apprentice L. Tilley was cautioned regarding his use of the whip over the concluding stages.
ROYALTOWN ROAD – Shifted in when attempting a narrow run between horses near the 300m and made contact with the hind quarters of REGAL CONSERVE.
SINGARAJA – Buffeted between runners for a short distance after the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
SEIZE THE FIRE – Raced wide in the early stages before improving forward to the lead.
QUIET COLLECT – Jumped out at the start and made contact with another runner.
Race 9: SPRINGFIELD PANTHERS JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
TELMEMORE – Lost its near fore plate in running.
MAXIMUM MERRITT – Blundered on jumping away.
OUTBACK CARLSON – Raced wide in the early stages.
LANIKAI MISS – Taken outwards by another runner at the start and had to be steadied from heels.
PHANTOM WHISPER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
LYNYRD SKYNYRD – Shifted out at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
TRUE PRINCE – Connections advised that from the good draw today, whilst the horse raced back in the field at its previous start, the intention will be to have the horse ridden in a mid to forward position today. The horse was ridden accordingly.
JUST A ROCKSTAR – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
